1 Transponder Mounting Procedure E-ZPass transponders (including Indiana E-ZPass, I-PASS and Ohio E-ZPass) are designed to be mounted inside your vehicle s front, behind the rearview mirror and about 1 inch down from where the roof and the meet (See photo at right). It is important to note that some vehicle makes and models have alternative mounting instructions. These vehicles have a near optically clear metallic coating, and this special coating can go by several names, including Solar Ray, Solar Tint, heat-reflected, Insulated or Insta-Clear. This coating should not be confused with the colored tint along the top of the, which should have little to no effect on transponder performance. However, the special coating does have a negative effect on the radio waves used by all E-ZPasscompatible transponders. Commercial Vehicle Install
