3 Research at FME of the CTU in Prague Inevitable tool for supporting the high level of education and for keeping high-quality staff approx. 65% of FME turnover covered by R&D projects, grants and contracts. Long term projects supporting the national collaboration of research bodies Centres of Competence, programme of Technological Agency of the Czech Republic. National projects of Technological Agency or Grant Agency of the Czech Republic. Help by Structural Funds and Social Funds of EU (OP PIK, OP VVV), Framework Programme 7, Horizon 2020 (currently 6 projects) and bi-lateral schemes. Start of Public Private Partnership successful for FME because of traditional combining grants&contracts. Strong collaboration with Czech industry and Czech branches of European research companies.

4 Research at FME of the CTU in Prague Strong domains focused on innovations: Machine tool design: new concepts of high productive machine tools, new kinematic concepts with high stiffness and low mass, use of mechatronics. Industry 4.0 Mechatronics: applications in machine tools and automotive engineering (electric and hybrid cars powertrains and control) Aerospace: general aircraft propulsion Biomechanics: joint implantation, bone substitutes design/shaping, vein substitutes&haemodynamics. Power engineering: biomass and alternative fuels, energy efficient buildings (HVAC, integrated control). Materials engineering: composite materials, nanotechnologies applied to surface treatment. Automotive engineering: powertrains, vehicle integrated control&electronics, integrated safety. Example: Research Center of Vehicles for Sustainable Mobility

11 Research Center of Manufacturing Technology (RCMT) History of Department of Production Machines and Equipment (PME) starts on 1920 s RCMT was founded as a research institute in 2000 by the Czech Technology Association and by the Czech Ministry of Education Since 2012 RCMT has become a part of the PME, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Strategic tasks: Education of young professionals in Bachelor s, Master s and doctoral programmes of study Research in the field of production machines and manufacturing technology Support to companies in the field of production machines and manufacturing technology

Optimum concepts and tools for design optimization of future engines hybrid powertrains with energy accumulation and power splitting for electric vehicles advanced control systems of adaptive and predictive control.
