2 Guide to Wall & Floor Tiles All our floor tiles are sourced from around Europe and therefore are all graded slightly different depending on the factory. Look at the number next to the tile, then refer to guide box below to decide whether it is suitable for your application. Please be aware that the tiles resistance is not only influenced by these grades but also by where it is laid. For example an area that is subjected to a lot of gravel or grit will deteriorate the tile quicker over time than a clean environment. Grade Definition Areas of very light traffic without footwear - bathrooms only. Areas of light to medium traffic with soft footwear. Areas of medium traffic with normal footwear, suitable for most rooms in the house. Areas of heavy traffic with normal footwear - all rooms in the house also offices, restaurants and hotels.* Areas of very heavy traffic normally a through-bodied porcelain tile suitable for commercial areas like hospitals, garages and shopping malls. * We have been importing and distributing tiles since 1995 so we like to think we are in tune with todays designs and customers needs. We work closely with the factories supplying us to ensure that we deliver the latest tiles at affordable prices without compromising on quality. The key to our success is a one stop order, we supply everything you will need from the tiles, adhesives, grouts and sealers to waterproofing systems, drill bits and undertile heating. All backed up by excellent service. Sizes of tiles can vary from each batch, therefore please be careful if mixing colour s or ranges even though they might be listed as the same size. Some of our floor tiles are tested by the manufacturers for slip resistance, unfortunately at present there is not a standard test used by every country. However we have decided to list any tiles that have been tested for the DIN51130 ramp test which is what most European manufacturers use. Please speak to us for guidance on specification and technical details. * Slip resistance needs to be considered for public areas. We recommend the use of Lithofin cleaning products and sealers for all our natural products. To determine whether a tile is suitable for exterior use depends on how much water it absorbs. As a general rule Glazed Porcelain and Through Bodied Porcelain are suitable. However please ask for advice on technical specification. Please note all floor tiles can be used on walls providing substrate is suitable for the weight of the tile including the adhesive. Please ask for advice on technical specification. All tiles can be prone to "bowing." This is caused in the firing process and is unavoidable. All our tiles are produced to comply with European standards and tolerances. Ensure that you are happy with the finish before laying commences especially if you are planning to lay the tiles in a brick style. We hope you enjoy looking through our latest collection.
