About Us Vision To develop a solution with low cost, high technology power generation & fulfill India s Power shortage enabling growth of India Establishment 1983 Technologies Type of Solar Power Plants offered : Solar Photovoltaic & Solar Thermal Grid Connected Ground & Rooftop Solar Power Plants Mini Grid Solar Power Plants Offgrid Solar Power Plants Process Heat Solar Thermal Plants Corporate Office Locations Activities Gurgaon, India Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad Setting up Solar PV & Thermal Power Plants Bergen Group India 2
Our Motto. difference is we care Bergen Group India 3
Origin In 1979 while sitting in the town of Bergen in Norway, an Indian NORAD fellow was inspired by sunrise & sunset almost from same location and came back with the idea of setting up an organization which will bring new technologies in Indian electronics manufacturing & renewable energy sector & which will help to end the shortage of power in India & improve thelifestyleof the Indian people. From this idea & inspiration, Bergen Group was formed in 1983 & journey started with many milestones achieved & more to be achieved. F.314, Studentbyen, Moholt 7034, Norway

REC Framework Bergen Group India 10
Salient Features of REC Regulations REC Issuing Authority The National Load Dispatch Centre (NLDC) is the Nodal Agency for implementing the REC scheme NLDC to issue REC to the Eligible entities based on the Energy Injection Report prepared by SLDC Trade of REC REC is valid for a period of 365 days from the date of issuance Transaction of REC shall takes place only at Power Exchanges REC issued to an Eligible entity is redeemed on being sold to an Obligated or Voluntary Entity Only single trade (once through) permissible, multiple trades not allowed Price Range Particular Period: April 2012 March 2017 Solar Non Solar Floor Price (INR) Forbearance Price (INR) Source: Power Exchange India Limited Bergen Group India 11
Alternate approach: Best Practices Germany <1% 71% 28% Ground mounted Rooftop Building integrated Private buildings: 1 10 kwp Social, commercial, agricultural buidlings: kwp Large commercial buildings: > 100 kwp 10% 38% 23% Market share in % of MW installed in 2012 Source: BSW Solar, E.Quadrat GmbH Bergen Group India 12
Alternate approach: Best Practices Germany 1000 Rooftop Programme ( ) Only German producers (local content Capital Grant of 70% of investment provided(50% by the federation and 20% by Federal States) Grid connected PV installation with 1 5 kwp rooftops of single and two family houses were eligible. Every installation had to install 3 meters: Generation meter, metering at production Feed in Meter, metering at fed electricity Import Meter, metering the purchased electricity Obligation for installation operators to record over 5 years monthly meter results Interest rate of 1.91% Bergen Group India 13
Alternate approach: Best Practices Germany USA PV capacity (cumulative) until August 2012: 30,050 MWp Number of grid connected PV systems until August 2012: 1,223,000 Share of national gross electricity consumption: 10% Share of rooftop systems: 71% CO2 savings in 2011: 12.8 million Net metering is popular in 43 States but specific rules defer from States to States. Energy Policy Act 2005 mandates all public electricity utilities to make net metering options available to all customers. California had maximum installed onsite customer generated solar capacity of 991 MWp with 1,01,284 net metering consumers from sites. Bergen Group India 14
Alternate approach: Best Practices South Korea South Korea enacted the Renewable Portfolio Standard 2010, Generators >500 MW to generate a minimum of 2% from Renewable sources in Target is increased by 1% every year and eventually reaches 10% by 2022 Defaulting Generators to fulfill their targets by purchasing RECs on Power Exchange Benefits under proposed mechanism: Generating sources is recorded on monthly basis Cash flow situation of Developers improves by active participation from Generators Provides a fillip to the Market based mechanism for promotion of investments in Renewable energy based projects Distribution licensees avoid the hardship of allocation of funds for purchase of RECs Turkey Domestic Manufactured cells & inverters were given more than 10% additional tariff. Bergen Group India 15
RECs for Solar Water Heating: Australia Australia Key Features of Australia s REC Program has boosted compliance with Solar MRET Regulations adopted in 2001 enable solar water heaters generate RECs for compliance with Australia s Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET) which requires 2% of electricity generation by renewable through RECs anticipated over 10 years are credited to SWH system buyers upon registration of their projects with National Registry. Australia s Solar Water Heating REC program has boosted Australia s solar water heating marks considerably, especially during the first few years of the program when REC prices were higher which in turn Bergen Group India 16
REQUIRED POLICIES CHANGES 17
Policy Changes to light up India by 2020 Reverse Bidding policy should be relooked Additional Tariff for use Made in India Modules & inverters should be given: TURKEY Model Make 10 % RGO mandatory to produce REC Compulsory for All GSM Towers for attest 10kW Solar Installation : harnessing about 5 GW Solar Power For stability of the Grid, Renewable Energy need to be stored for making it available during peak hours. Developers should be given an enhanced tariff. Bergen Group India 18
Senior Citizen Scheme Senior Citizen Home The rooftop of the house remains utilized most of the time. Could used for Solar Installation Say a system of capacity 10 kw is Installed on the 15 Lacs Capital cost Bank finances for the scheme and collects half of the revenue generated every month Half of the revenue generated remains with the old couple who rented out the roof Bergen Group India 19
