2 Welcome board ECU Transit operates a limited version of its normal service during both summer sessions. lthough all regular stops are served, most routes are combined for efficiency due to lower ridership. If you need to travel outside our service area, discount passes for the Greenville rea Transit (GRET) system are available at the Central Ticket Office inside Mendenhall Student Center. More information on GRET is available by going online at or calling Service Calendar & nnouncements Over the summer, there are a few days when service is either modified or suspended completely. These service exceptions are also noted on our service calendar online at transit. Recorded service announcements are also available by calling ECU-US1 ( ). Tuesday, May 14: first day of classes, summer service begins. Saturday, May 25 Sunday, May 26 (Memorial Day Weekend): all service suspended. Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day): all bus service suspended, SafeRide will operate on its normal schedule. Thursday, July 4 (Independence Day): all bus service suspended, SafeRide will operate on its normal schedule. Friday, July 26: last day of classes, all bus service ends normally, SafeRide will not operate. SFE RIDE (RIDE) SafeRide ECU Transit also offers SafeRide, a supplemental point-topoint van service designed to help you get home safely once the day is done. SafeRide operates on the following schedule: Monday Friday... 6:00pm 12:00am Saturday & Sunday :00pm 12:00am To arrange pickup, please call e ready to provide your name as well as locations where you wish to be picked up and dropped off. n ECU 1Card is required to ride; one guest is permitted for each valid 1Card. Service area is limited; most regular daytime bus stops receive two-way service until 10:00pm, followed by one-way service away from campus only until midnight. See the service area map online for more details. Pirate Express lthough Pirate Express has proven to be an extremely popular service during the fall and spring semesters, ridership data indicates little demand for the service during the summer. Due to this low demand, and because the service falls outside of ECU Transit s core mission to provide transportation in support of academic endeavors, Pirate Express will not operate during the summer. Spread the Peak! Every day, thousands of students experience the last minute rush to get to campus just in time for class. With so many classes being held at the same time, our system experiences peak loads in ridership which can result in a crowded ride to campus.
