IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS If you have any questions, please call your dealer, or Sunstream at (253) Save These Instructions Your safety and the safety of others is very important. Proper use of the information in this manual will help avoid potential hazards that could cause damage to property and/or personal injury. It is not possible, however, to identify and warn users of all hazards associated with the assembly, installation, operation, and maintenance of the V-LIFT. You must use your own good judgment. SAFETY WARNINGS * Failure to comply with the following rules may result in severe injury and/or death and damage to property. 1. Your V-Lift is a piece of heavy equipment and the act of raising your boat should be treated with respect and good judgment. Children should not operate lift without adult supervision. 2. No one should operate the lift without fully understanding the proper operating procedures. 3. NEVER exceed the maximum capacity of the lift. Overloading may result in mechanical failure and personal injury. Positioning the boat too far forward or aft may overload the lift. 4. Your lift is not designed to be an elevator for people. Therefore, do not use the lift for moving or supporting humans. Load and Unload passengers only when boat is in position. 5. Restrict children and adults from playing on or near the V-Lift. 6. Be sure the V-Lift remains level at all four corners. Out of level installations may cause boat to shift and personal injury. All four corners must be within 6 of each other. 7. Do not stand on the lift in the raised position without the anti-folding clips installed. There is a risk of the lift folding together while floating if the clips are not installed. 8. Do not submerge batteries, valves, blowers or battery charger, or allow AC wires to contact the water. Alternating Currents are hazardous to swimmers and cause accelerated corrosion to nearby vessels. 9. Lift structure, electronics and Pneumatic systems must be inspected annually. FORM NO REV. PAGE 3

STEP 4 TEST AND COVER TESTING Turn on Control Box: Turn key to ON and switch ON/OFF Rocker Switch to ON. Status light should blink once. Test RC Transmitter: Press UP or DOWN and confirm that appropriate cycle functions. If RC does not respond, program per instructions in Use and Maintenance section. Test Blowers: Press UP button on Transmitter or Rocker Switch. Confirm each blower is operating. Cycle will continue for 2 ½ minutes. Cycle can be stopped by pressing either UP or DOWN. Test UP Valves: During UP cycle, confirm that all UP valves function by feeling Blower intake for air flow suction. WARNING: Do not stick your fingers into Blower, blades are sharp. Test Down Valves: Press DOWN button on Transmitter or Rocker Switch. Confirm each Down valve seat has opened by looking or feeling inside valve. Cycle can be stopped by pressing either UP or DOWN button. FORM NO REV. PAGE 23
BUNK ADJUSTMENT Note: Inner bunks positioned too high will cause sides of lift to pinch boat (See Fig 4-A). Outer Bunks typically do not need to be re-positioned on typical V hulls. Outer bunk: The outer bunk is typically located in the position as shown in the instructions, but can be moved in or out if needed. For inboard ski boat, it is usually best to mount the outer bunk on the outer most position to get more prop clearance. Inner bunk The Center bunk height needs to be adjusted depending on the hull shape of the boat. For flat bottom boats, the center bunk needs to be positioned close to the elevation of the outer bunks. For deep V boats, the center bunks typically need to be positioned near the lowest position. For boats with moderate V-shape, the bunk will typically be somewhere in between these positions. 1. Start with your best guess position for the center bunk height based on above. 2. Hand-load boat on lift, making sure sides of boat do not rub on side of lift. 3. If more clearance is needed, lower center bunks. To reduce width of lift, raise center bunks. Make sure prop of inboard boats is clear of lift. FORM NO REV. PAGE 24

INSTALLATION! WARNING The Maximum Capacity for the Lift should be listed on the lift itself - if it is not, call Sunstream immediately to determine your lifts capacity. Operating the Lift with a greater amount of total weight may cause the Lift and boat to become unstable and/or capsize, possibly causing property damage and/or and severe injury to individuals situated nearby.! WARNING Installation or use of the Lift in overly rigorous conditions may cause the Lift to become unstable and/or capsize, possibly causing property damage and/or severe injury or death to individuals situated nearby. LAUNCH THE LIFT The V-lift can be easily by launched from a boat trailer or flatbed trailer. It can also be manually be pushed into the water from shore or ramp, or pushed off dock. Once in the water, the lift can be towed with line around inner bunk legs. Alternatively it can be pushed with square bowed boat. A Motor Mount accessory is available so the lift can be moved with outboard motor.! WARNING TOW ONLY AT SLOW SPEEDS. SECURING TO DOCK Dock line size should be appropriate for size of boat. For side tie: Tie lift to dock with a bow line, stern line and spring line. Lines need to be fairly horizontal, with enough length to allow for lift to raise and lower. For slip tie: use 4 dock lines on each corner with enough length to allow for lift to raise and lower fender as needed to keep lift from wearing on dock FORM NO REV. PAGE 27
USE AND MAINTENANCE Sunstream recommends an annual inspection of the V-LIFT by a Sunstream dealer or other qualified personnel. STORAGE AND OFF-SEASON SUGGESTIONS! WARNING Be sure to prevent rainwater from accumulating in your boat if you plan to leave it on the lift for long term storage. Rainwater accumulating in your bilge can quickly increase your gross weight over the lift capacity. If your waterway freezes during the winter, you will need to remove your V-Lift, as it will be damaged by ice flow. FORM NO REV. PAGE 28
REMOTE CONTROL PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS If your remote will not work, first check to see that it is transmitting. Do this by depressing any of the three buttons and watching to see that the red LED light is working. If so, then the next step is to re-program the receiver. RC701 Programming Instructions 1. SWITCH RC UNIT TO *ON*. 2. PUSH & RELEASE RED PROGRAM SWITCH. 3. PUSH TRANSMITTER *UP* BUTTON 3 TIMES, ON FOURTH PUSH, BLOWERS SHOULD OPERATE. PNEUMATICS AND ELECTRIC POWER The lift raised and lowered by filling the tanks with air. Air is pushed into the tank with a blower, and is controlled with individual Up and Down solenoid valves. Water is exhausted from a 6" hole in the bottom of the tank. Power is supplied by two 24VDC sealed batteries. A Remote Control Box distributes the power to blowers and valves located on each tank. Up and Down commands are provided by a Remote Control transmitter with secure communication to the RC Box, or with a switch on the control box. The valves are sealed to the tank with O-ring seals lubricated with common petroleum jelly. Both up and down valves open whan going down. Valves are opened by 24V solenoid and spring loaded to close, so no power is used to maintain position. Note valves can be manually operated by reaching into the valve body and pressing the valves seat. RIGGING AND HANDLING ASSEMBLED LIFTS A fully assembled lift can be folded along the centerline if anti-folding clips are removed. This position can be maintained with lines tied between the mooring holes. A folded lift is less than 8-6 wide and can be transported (fully assembled) on the road. Hoisting: An assembled lift can be hoisted by straps through the mooring holes. Forklift handling: Fully assembled lifts can be picked underneath with a forklift, either from the side (centered around Union Tube) or from the end with extended forks. FORM NO REV. PAGE 29
BOAT FIT The bunk locations must be checked so that the boat is properly supported. The Outer Bunks must be centered under or between the strakes or chines of the boat hull. Note that a majority of boats do not require adjustment of the Outer Bunk location. The Inner Bunks must be positioned to support the boat near the keel, so the lift does not spread open or pinch closed when the boat is in the up position. Note the aft Inner Bunks and the forward Inner Bunks may not be located at the same height. The boat must also be correctly positioned fore and aft on the lift. Proper position is with the boat is level and both tanks approximately the same depth. Typical boats with outdrives or outboard motors will be located with the transom of the boat approximately even with the aft end of the lift. It is recommended a reference point be identified on the boat hull, or an identification sticker be placed on the hull. TANK MONITORING SYSTEM Tank Monitoring System (TMS) senses if one or more tanks becomes low in the water. The system is designed to activate an UP cycle to add air if water is sensed in the tank. If the TMS system has been activated, an audible signal of double-clicking valves will occur during the Down cycle. TMS is activated if Power is on and last cycle was UP, and water in tanks contacts sensor. V-LIFT MAINTENANCE Monthly: Check condition of mooring lines or mooring system. Confirm lift is level in the fully raised position. Observe condition of tanks and bunks. Clean Solar Panel (optional) as needed. Yearly: Inspect general condition of tanks and bunks. Remove Covers and inspect general condition of blowers and wire harnesses. Remove TMS sensor and wipe clean. Every 3 years: Replace Batteries (approximate life) (Batteries come with 1 year manufacturers warranty) FORM NO REV. PAGE 30
CHARGING A plug is available for plugging in either an AC charger or solar charger under each lid of every tank. For AC charging, plug in AC side of charger to GFI protected outlet. Charger is water-resistant, but should not be submerged. For Solar charging, attach the solar panels to the top to the lid on the sunny side of the boat, or off the lift using an extension wire. ACCESSORIES MOTOR STOP PART# VLAMS1 The Motor Stop accessory is strongly advised for all boats except for inboards, such as ski boats. FORM NO REV. PAGE 31
TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM: Lift will not raise or lower with UP/DOWN Rocker Switch Lift will not raise or lower with RC transmitter Lift does not lower evenly Lift does not raise evenly One or more tanks is lower in the water then others SOLUTION: Check ON/OFF Rocker Switch is ON Check both batteries are connected to Remote Control Box Check STATUS light. If light is blinking, batteries are dead and must be charged. Confirm correct connection of wire harnesses to pneumatics on each tank. Confirm lift operates with UP/DOWN Rocker Switch. If not see above. Reprogram Remote Control Box to transmitter. See procedure in Manual. Confirm all wire harnesses are connected correctly. Identify if one or more valves are not opening. Check operation by observing movement of valve seat (blower must be removed to observe UP valve). Valve can be manually opened by pressing directly on valve seat. Confirm all wire harnesses are connected correctly. Identify if one or more blowers is not operating during UP cycle. Identify if one or more UP valves are not opening. Check operation by removing blower and observing movement of valve seat. Valve can manually opened by pressing directly on valve seat. Press UP and observe how quickly each tank bubbles air from underwater. Check lift hours later to observe if low tank has let air escape. Observe if valves make audible double-click on DOWN cycle. Audible signal indicates TMS has activated and added air to tanks. Confirm proper installation of UP and DOWN valves in tank snorkel holes. Confirm proper installation and lubrication of O-ring seals on UP and DOWN Valve. Identify if tank has leak. Minor leaks may be repaired. FORM NO REV. PAGE 32
TROUBLESHOOTING CONTINUED STATUS light is blinking Valves made audible double-click at the beginning of Down cycle Indicates dead batteries. Charge batteries and cycle RC Box on and off to reset. TMS has been activated by a low tank and has automatically added air. Identify cause of low tank (see above) and resolve. Reset by cycling RC Box on and off. Clean TMS wire ends. Batteries will not maintain charge Check charger indicating light is on (Red is fast charge and Green is trickle charge). Replace batteries. (Note batteries are sealed and do not require maintenance). FORM NO REV. PAGE 33
