Multiple XP luminaries are connected together via a DC-Bus to deliver engergy back to the grid (energy recovery). The PV-DC controller delivers engergy to the DC bus and draws energy from the DC bus. 7 XP FAQs What is the Stand-alone type? This option of the XP works without connection to the AC mains. It should be used in cases where no mains installation is available or when it is too expensive to build-up the wiring. For which cases should one use the Hybrid type? When using the Hybrid type the battery is charged from the AC mains when the capacity is too low for operation. A mains connection is needed for the Hybrid type. This option is good for harsh weather situations and due to this mode the light output can be garanteed according to the relevant standards. How does the Power Station type really work? A group of SoLED XP luminaries are connected together via a 2-wire DC bus and they are connected to two inverters which operate parallel to each other. During the day the solar-inverter delivers engergy back to the mains and during the night the light-inverter supplies the XP group. No battery is used within the XP luminary. How does the remote controller work? The remote controller is a GSM module connecting the XP over mobile networks to a central management. The remote controller has to be applied with a data SIM card. The SoLED XP can then be controlled, checked and updated by text messages. Different modes of operation can be selected like automatic feedback for maintenance. Why does XP operate the LEDs with DC current having DC light output? Research studies showed that pulsed light (e.g. PWM) worsen distance estimation for moving objects like cars. Due to this security issue XP operates with DC light only. This garantees the highest security standards for lighting. Why is the XP a secure luminary more than others? The XP has a parallel system structure inside. When one unit fails, the other can operate and inform the operator that something is wrong. Especially in street lighting, where security is a top issue, this redudancy system is a big adavantage. How is the XP mounted? The XP is a highly stable construction tested under extreme weather conditions like windstorms. Mounting can be carried out with a ground screw or using concrete. Our sales staff will support you with all the required tools needed for reliable mounting. Where is the battery located? The battery is placed in a special cavity underneath the earth. The standard battery is lead-acid. Who is allowed to install and maintain the XP luminary? Only preferred partners are allowed to install and maintain the XP luminaries. This partner network garantees an all around service and support 24/7. Furthermore, partners can offer interesting service packages to their customers. Queries: Is the XP technology patented? Yes.
