1- GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS 1.1 Inspection On receipt of your new mixer please inspect and report any transit damage to Euromixers Limited. 1.2 Introduction To ensure optimum performance from your new mixer please refer to the following installation / operation instructions.

5 1- GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS 1.1 Inspection On receipt of your new mixer please inspect and report any transit damage to Euromixers Limited. 1.2 Introduction To ensure optimum performance from your new mixer please refer to the following installation / operation instructions. 1.3 Safety The following instructions are important. All site rules and safety procedures must be observed when installing and operating your mixer and appropriate actions taken to identify and eliminate potential risks. Mount the mixer securely onto the mixing vessel complete with shaft and impeller before connecting to the power supply. Do not touch any moving / rotating parts. Dis-connect from the power supply before moving the mixer. Safety warning / information labels attached to the mixer WARNING Failure to observe the above instructions could cause severe personal injury. 1.4 C.E. Marking C.E. marking and / or associated documentation applies to the mixer only, When the mixer is installed it becomes an integral part of a larger installation which is not within the scope of supply and C.E. marking is the responsibility of others. 1.5 Storage Euromixers Portable Mixers are prepared for short-term storage prior to despatch. This storage period should not exceed six months.. If equipment is to be stored do not stack the cartons. Store in a clean dry indoor location that is free from wide variations in temperature. Storage area should be free from vibration and excessive heat. Inspect for external corrosion at six month intervals. Apply rust preventative as required.

6 Electric motors are not suitable for long term storage and if subject to adverse moisture conditions damage may occur to the windings. 2 - INSTALLATION 2.1 Motors Check the nameplate data on the motor to ensure the available power supply agrees with the motor requirements. If the motor has been stored in a damp location, the windings may require drying. NOTE: Do not obstruct the normal flow of ventilating air through or over the motor. Connect the motor in accordance with the 17 th Edition of the Wiring Regulations BS EN Harmonised EEC standard and local site standards / requirements, but do not make the connections permanent until the motor rotation has been checked, see the mixer nameplate for the direction of rotation Jog the motor to check for correct rotation prior to securing wiring. Normal mixer rotation is clockwise when viewed from above. To reverse direction of rotation on 3ph motors change over any two-power supply leads. IMPORTANT All electrical work must be carried out by a suitably qualified electrical engineer. If any additional motor auxiliary devices such as thermistors are used, these should be connected correctly in circuits and insulated from motor power cables. 7 2.2 Motor operation Good air circulation round the electric motor is important to achieve full performance and optimum life, keep the motor clean do not restrict air flow round the motor. Prior to permanently wiring the electric motor: Check nameplate data on the motor to ensure the available power supply agrees with the motor requirements. Protective devices and cables should be the correct size and rating for safe load carrying and to interrupt the circuit on overload. Check motor leads with connection diagrams on motor nameplate and/or conduit box so that the correct connections are made. Motors / mixers should be installed in accordance with the 17 th Edition of the Wiring Regulations BS EN Harmonised EEC standard Check the output shaft rotation against the mixer nameplate This is normally clockwise when viewed from the top. For standard three-phase electric motors, the rotation is reversed by switching any two power leads. Check operating motor amperage against nameplate amperage. Check that the mixer run smoothly, and without vibration. NOTE: Work on the electric motor must be carried out by a suitably qualified electrical engineer. 2.3 Mixer Mounting Bolt the mixer on a suitable support structure on top of the tank, 2.4 Mounting Options Plate / Gearbox flange 2.5 Shaft Shaft should extend to approx 2 impeller diameters off the tank bottom cut to length with a hacksaw if necessary. Fit the mixer shaft in the Drive Shaft Item 4 and tighten the 2 set screws Item 11 which are 120 deg apart to secure the shaft in place. 2.6 Impeller Position the impeller on the mixer shaft. Tighten impeller set screws securely, a sticker is attached to the impeller showing the correct orientation.

8 2.7 Impeller Rotation Impeller rotation is normally clockwise when viewed from above A rotation arrow is located on the mixer nameplate. 2.8 Start-Up Before start-up, check the security of all hardware and fittings. Recheck that the direction of rotation of the mixer shaft corresponds with the rotation arrow on the mixer nameplate. Check the mixer runs smoothly. 2 OPERATION On ESV electronic variable speed drives adjust the speed so the mixer runs smoothly without any vibration. 3.1 Mounting Position Plate mounted mixers can be mounted vertically on centre in round tanks if baffles are fitted in the tank or angled off centre / vertically off centre - optimum for most mixing and blending applications. On centre mounting -Creates vortexing which speeds up the dispersing and dissolving of light liquids and hard-to-wet powders, which may be required for some applications. CAUTION : Switch the mixer off and dis-connect from the power supply before moving the mixer. 4 - MAINTENANCE 4.1 Lubrication The mixer gear drive is lubricated and sealed for life. All mixer bearings are sealed for life and do not require additional lubrication. 4.2 Routine Maintenance Check the security of all hardware. Visually check, each time the mixer is used that all components are in good serviceable condition, not damaged or worn before operating the mixer.
