6 Main challenge: growth of individual motorisation and suburbanisation Number of cars in neighbouring communes (excluding Gdansk and Sopot) stands for 44% of number of cars in Gdynia Motorisation index for districts Ind. motorisation index in Gdynia in chosen years Almost 3/4th of Gdynia s households has at least 1 car. In 2004 this factor was 56%.

13 Summary SUMP as a complex process; Strong social involvement and participation using different channels; Strong involvement of internal stakeholders (City Office, public transport authority, operators ); Modelling used for concrete purpose (scenarios); Clear goals; Although SUMP sets out a perspective for 2025, action plan is for ; Well integrated with other strategic documents and plans; Need to be adjusted to very local conditions (i.e. strong position of district councils in Gdynia, specific spatial location of harbor, development of hybrid trolleybuses); The first logic link to integrate SUMP with SEAP in Gdynia: electromobility (ELIPTIC project as a good starting point: ).
