In this course period, the student will learn the basics of Electrical Power Generation, The sources which are available in nature from which electric power can be harnessed. Also they study about Substation and Grounding in power system. PRE REQUISITES 1. Basic knowledge about electrical power generation. 2. Basic knowledge about types of electrical power and its components. 3. Basic knowledge about working principle of Motors and Generators. COURSE OBJECTIVES The main objectives of this course are 1. To make the students study about the different sources of electrical power generation. 2. To teach the students about the process involved for harnessing electrical power from different sources available. 3. To teach the students about the general layout of a substation. 4. To explain the necessity of tariffs and importance of power factor improvement. 5. To explain the necessity and different methods of grounding.
