Should be driver for mobility concepts and industry development The many promising SME companies working on EV, are not to be found by the Vehicle Manufacturers Electric energy / infrastructure & automotive are historically isolated from each other Why a NW-European Networking Project on E-Mobility?
4 Project Aims ENEVATE aims to facilitate and support an accelerated and well informed introduction of electric mobility in North West Europe through structured transnational co-operation between public authorities and business representatives. And at the same time to boost innovation and competitiveness of the rapidly developing electric vehicle sector in NW Europe. Agenda Why did we start ENEVATE? 5 The history of E-mobility They have long been particularly suited to certain applications But were not seen as cool By 1900 EVs had 1/3 of the US market. Even Henry Ford s wife drove an EV until the GM EV-1. Developed in the 1990s to respond to California s ZEV Mandate. The history of E-mobility When ENEVATE started EV s were still marginal since then several have been introduced by major manufacturers A remarkable transformation: Renault-Nissan have now sold 100,000 EVs. Nissan has sold 71,000 Leafs: 30,000 in US 28,000 in Japan 12,000 in Europe Top markets are: France, Germany, Italy. As well as in % Norway and NL

E-tour Allgau ee-tour Allgaü - electro mobility and tourism Tourists had an ambassador function Rural traffic conditions The goal was not only to implement e- mobility but also do research and development on e-mobility Different types of Vehicles Users Usage conditions 80% of tourists arrive by private car and use this car also in vacation resort Currently 2% of tourists rent a car, but interviews indicate 37% is very interested when it is an E-car (E-experience)
10 Goal is implementing an improved strategy for charging infrastructure that is strongly related with the leisure industry in Brabant, NL Scope: Initiating projects and supporting organisations in the leisure industry to install and run economical viable charging points at their business locations. 11 Goal to implement an economic feasible e-car sharing program in less populated area with: Lot of commuting between small cities Relatively low congestion No parking issues (low cost) Less density Low frequent public transport (car is king) Transnational EU project development (examples) E-car sharing Limburg High degree of capacity utilization by deploying vehicles: Commuting Recreational/private use Pool-car for authorities and companies Role of ENEVATE Feasibility study based on ENEVATE knowledge and experience.
