Inverters capable of supplying reactive power are needed for this and these are already available. Some of these can be seen for the first time at the Intersolar Europe Also in focus are high-power central inverters for outdoor installation. The company BMSolar S.R.L. from Italy will present the new developments of the product family BlackMagic. This technology, entirely designed and manufactured in Italy, captures the energy that would be lost for reasons more or less known: shadows, mismatching (non-uniformity of the panels), irradiance exposition, installation, aging, increasing energy production up to 80 % and adding features such as anti-fire, fire fight and failure detection. According to BMSolar, the inverter reduces the cost of routine maintenance and repairs, including system monitoring and prevents aging. BlackMagic technology is applicable to both new and existing systems, can be integrated in the junction box of the PV panels and integrates with all types of panels and inverters on the market. The state-of-the-art components selected by Aros Solar Technology research and development for this type of inverter provide conversion efficiencies of up to 98 %, ensuring high quality power under all conditions. Booth: C3.377 By the end of last year, the inverters of the Valenia SpA s Aurus series from the Aurus 20 model up to the Aurus 82 received a General Certificate of Conformity from German TÜV Rheinland. The Italian inverter manufacturer is part of the Valenia Group, which has more than 25 years of experience in designing and producing inverter devices. The Aurus series includes single phase inverters with rated power between 1.7 kw and 6 kw, thus meeting different needs in PV plant design. The series includes models (Aurus 42/52/62/82) offering one or two maximum power point trackers (MPPT). With their advanced tracking technology, the inverters enhance PV systems to capture the maximum power even in cloudy or shady conditions, says Valenia. Booth: C3.380 The inverter manufacturer Siel SpA from Milan, Italy, has recently launched new models of the Soleil HV TL series for PV systems using medium voltage power. The new inverters in the series have an AC power of 330 kw and 660 kw and offer further options to users while still maintaining the reduced dimensions of the existing models (1,500 x 1,000 x 2,000 mm). Products with a rated power of 250 kw and 500 kw have already been launched in the past and the 330 kw and 660 kw models now fill the gaps within the voltage range. According to Siel, its inverters are characterised by a wide range of possible DC voltages from a minimum voltage of around 450 V to a maximum of 930 V. Siel states that the new models allow grid connection of PV plants of various dimensions, reducing both voltage losses on the cables as well as the number of parallel boxes required. Bonfiglioli devices are offered either in a Multi-MPPT configuration for minimum mismatching losses or in a Master-Slave configuration that optimizes power output in locations with low irradiation levels. According to Bonfiglioli, the modular design of their inverters allows them to maintain operability at high levels even in the occurrence of faults. Advanced grid management features ensure operability in a wide range of conditions. Among the technical specifications of Bonfiglioli PV inverters are their power ratings from 280 to 1,580 kw, the modular design, the Master-Slave or Multi MPPT configuration, and a maximum efficiency of 98.6 %. Booth: C4.250 Power-One Italy SpA the Aurora inverter developed by Power-One s Californian design and manufacturing centre is the last Italian product news in our preview. At Intersolar Europe, the company will launch their second micro-inverter, the Aurora Micro I with an output of 250 W. The device offers an alternative to traditional string inverters for small residential installations. Power-One claims that by optimising the power curve for each individual panel, the latest Aurora Micro unit minimises efficiency losses. It reaches an efficiency rating of up to 96.5 %. Maximum DC input voltage is 65 VDC. Up to 17 microinverters can be connected within a string. The Aurora Micro-0.25-I is electrolyte-free. To allow for plant monitoring, Power-One s micro-inverters can be linked to the Internet with the Aurora Concentrator Data Device (CDD). This enables the user to monitor each micro-inverter or optimizer without additional wiring via wireless communication technology. The PVI TL is a new modular inverter. Due to a 67 kw modular structure, the scalable inverter system can be obtained with a wide range of rated power: offered levels are 134, 200, 267, 334 and 400 kw. Through the micro-inverters, each PV module can be configured as a multi-master for up to 6 independent MPPT, or as master slave with a single MPPT. The aim is to improve the energy output in cases of module failures. Booth: C4.170, FG.100 The manufacturer REFUsol from Metzingen in southern Germany states that the very high output voltage of their new REFUsol 023K 460 VAC threephase string inverter makes it suitable for medium voltage applications in large-scale PV systems. According to the manufacturer, the new model closes the gap between the REFUsol 008K 020K string inverter family with an output voltage of 400 V and the REFUsol 333K, which is suitable for outdoor installation and has an output voltage of 690 V. The new MPPT solar charge controller series has two models at 65 A and two at 80 A. The name of the series is VarioTrack. According to Studer, there is 30 % more solar power available to charge a battery, with outstanding 99 % tracking and 98 % conversion efficiencies. Designed for 12, 24 and 48 VDC batteries with an input voltage range of VDC, the VarioTrack is a 4-step-charger in an IP54 enclosure providing a high level of dust protection. Its distinguishing features are a maximum efficiency of 98.6 % (efficiency without auxiliary power consumption), modular construction and expanded grid functionality. It complies with the requirements of VDE-AR-N 4105, the BDEW medium voltage directive and China s Golden Sun programme, among others. The PVS800-MWS MW station consists of two central inverter cabinets rated at 500 kw each, a transformer and medium voltage switchgear. The complete MW station weighs 20 tons. At 50 m 3 the container volume is relatively low. ABB is also presenting its new PVS300 series of single-phase transformerless string inverters. It offers solar inverters with rated powers ranging from 3.3 to 8 kw. The core of the device is a control unit with a graphical display. Contactor and monitoring functions are integrated. Ltd., an Australian-Chinese solar inverter manufacturer with production plants in China, has released a series of new products: first of all, the SolarRiver-D with dual MPPT. Samil Power states that this is useful for customers installing a PV plant on a roof with different pitches and shadows. According to the manufacturer, it complies with the new German standard VDE AR-N-4105 and is capable of active and reactive power control and power reduction. The SolarRiver-D is designed with natural cooling; the power capacity covers 3 kw, 4 kw, 4.6 kw and 5 kw. SolarRiver-US has been especially developed for North America. The design of the housing is identical to that of the CS20 launched in According to Mastervolt, all devices meet the IP65 standard for outdoor environments as well as the German requirements on the reactive power performance of inverters. The company has designed the inverters aiming for high yields even in suboptimal conditions. As a result, the CSinverters have features such as an optimised startup strategy. Mastervolt says that the latter increases the annual operating time by up to 200 hours. All new CS inverters are equipped with two independent MPP trackers. A high DC system voltage reduces the number of strings needed. In addition, the inverters are equipped with watertight AC plugs, integrated carrying handles and a bracket for wall mounting. Booth: C3.150 Kaco New Energy is presenting an energy storage system at the Intersolar that makes it possible to provide power around the clock, supplied by environmentally-friendly solar electricity. It combines Li-ion batteries, a control system and an inverter interface in a single package. It can be integrated into new systems and existing systems. Kaco mentions advantages such as three-phase grid feeding, high system efficiency and simple installation on-site. According to the company, the Powador-gridsave system is expandable and has a comprehensive Energy Management System (EMS). It satisfies the mains grid and system protection requirements of the VDE- AR-N 4105 low voltage directive and also the power control requirements of 6 EEG The Powador-protect uses signals from a ripple control receiver for power control. Kaco is also presenting a new weatherproof central inverter. It carries the name Powador XP500-HV TL Outdoor and is designed for PV generator powers of up to 600 kw. The datasheets are still preliminary and no pictures are available. Kaco has increased the suspense for the trade fair visitors. Kaco will also present the Powador TL3 series of transformerless three-phase inverters in the power class of up to 10 kw. Booth: C3.310 The combination of inverters and storage occupies the central position in the trade fair programme for Kostal. The manufacturer based in Freiburg, South Germany, presents their new Piko storage inverter (power class of 10 kw upwards) with an integrated energy management system. According to Kostal, the system automatically decides whether the electricity generated by the PV system is fed into the public mains grid, stored in the battery or used for own consumption. These decisions are made based on economic and technical factors. The technical improvements are also reflected in the appearance of the inverter, with hand recesses, easier operation and a redesigned DC circuit breaker. Booth: C4.310 The Spanish company Ingeteam Energy S.A. will bring new central inverters to Munich. Among the new products are outdoor versions of the Ingecon Sun PowerMaxter series, rated from 375 to 840 kw. They have a new integrated AC/DC cabinet and are designed for ambient temperatures of up to 50 C. Ingeteam highlights their Sun 800 X345 and Sun 840 X360 models, claiming a maximum efficiency of 98.8 %. Ingeteam is also presenting its Ingecon Sun 1Play HF (2.5 to 6 kw) single-phase series equipped with high-frequency transformers. The devices are designed for outdoor installation, can sustain high temperatures and use high-frequency technology. The new series of single-phase inverters can be viewed as a parallel series to the Ingecon Sun 3Play TL (20 to 36 kw) three-phase inverters without transformers. Ingeteam also has its turnkey Ingecon Sun PowerStation for mediumvoltage grid feeding on display. Booth: C4.160 The Austrian manufacturer Fronius is presenting its new Agilo central inverter. With a power rating of 100 kw, the three-phase device is optimally suited for industrial or commercial PV systems. Fronius states that the inverter is one of the most compact devices in its class, making it easy to transport and install. The Agilo is compatible with the Fronius data communications system for PV system monitoring. The Austrian manufacturer promises continuous yield monitoring at a string level using its new String Control 250/30. Up to 30 strings can be monitored by this device. A special plinth makes it easier to mount the system on the ground. Fronius will also present its house of the future. This is an energy-autonomous single-family home that will soon be commissioned.
