4 PAST PROJECTS AND EXPERIENCE Detail design and manufacture of steel frames for British Antarctic Base Halley VI units. Structures were complex and had to meet stringent dimensional tolerances in order to t the molded insulation panels. All welding had to be quali ed for extreme low temperature. Manufacture under license of 30t portal crane for container handling; design and manufacture of rotating spreader. Design, manufacture and erection of 20t gantry for Tristan da Cunha Island harbor. Had to meet constraints on size of pieces for shipping and be able to be erected without craneage. 3

5 Design and manufacture of container handling yard and reinforced compaction containers for turnkey waste compaction plant for City of Cape Town. Design and manufacture of 80t hydraulic waste compactors for municipal waste, including conveyors, hydraulic system, controls and SCADA system. Detail design, manufacture and installation of lock gate system for V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, including hydraulic actuators, powerpack and controls. 4

Design, manufacture and installation of davits for SA Navy capable of launching and recovering a 10t fast boat in up to Sea State 5 with vessel under way. Design, manufacture and installation of crane with hazardous zone certi cation for coastal tanker. 5

7 Design and manufacture of a range of single and multi-drum winches for shing, mooring, hauling and lifting up to 60t pull and 2000 m of wire. Our range includes scienti c winches with conductor cable and electrical sliprings. Manufacture of umbilical reel for offshore survey vessel. Design and manufacture of crane and four-point mooring system with BV certi cation for oil rig accommodation barge. Winches were supplied with length and tension readouts and automatic position holding and monitoring system. 6

8 35t winches for four point mooring system in Petrel workshop. Design and manufacture of hydraulic drive units for 400t cable reel for CCC Underwater Construction. Dynamic testing of winches up to 55t pull to test operation of brakes during simulated failure while running. This project was carried out on a round-the-clock emergency basis for Petro SA to requalify winches after a near miss incident when static testing of brakes had failed to reveal a potential problem. 7

9 Design and manufacture of hydraulic powerpack with Eex certi cation for use in SASOL petrochemical plant. Design and manufacture of triple drum fuel hose storage reel with Eex certi cation for use on South African Antarctic research vessel SA AGULHAS II. Design and manufacture of road transportable bridge structure for de Beers Marine to allow transfer of 300 ton crawler from ship to shore in isolated ports without heavy crane infrastructure. 8

10 Design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of turnkey vacuum chamber system for lling electrical transformers with oil under vacuum for PowerTech Transformers. Design and manufacture of mining arms and hydraulic actuators for surf zone diamond mining platform development project by Namdeb. 9
