23 Tucano Shorts of Belfast produce the Tucano T1. It is a development of the Brazilian EMB-312 Tucano (Toucan). The canopy is in two sections and is bird strike-resistant for pilot protection. The cockpit layout has been designed to mimic that of the Hawk advanced trainer as much as possible, to aid continuity in training. The instructor s rear seat is raised to allow a clear view over the student s head; this gives the aircraft a humpbacked appearance.
