2 The low profile of the boxer engine is an automobile based gasoline engine. The maximum power output is reached at around 5000 RPM. You will therefore need a gearbox to reduce this high engine RPM between 2200 to 2500 RPM. Just like Rotax has done with their 912/4 line of engines. The basic engine is designed with a single ignition system It runs on Mogas, is liquid cooled, and can be equipped with a turbocharger (EJ-22) It will deliver power up to 180 BHP, which is more than enough for most small two or four place aircraft.

18 A 135 horsepower 4 cylinder engine with 2 throttle body injectors and 0.55 brake specific fuel consumption gives: (135 HP * 0.55 lb/hr/hp) / (2*.85) = ~ 43.7 lb/hr (1 lb/hr ~ 10.5 cc/min) BSFC is the amount of fuel your engine uses to make 1 horsepower for one hour. It is usually between 0.42 and 0.58 at wide open throttle. Normally aspirated engines with efficient combustion processes are at the lower end of the BSFC scale [~0.45], Supercharged engines tend to be towards the higher end [~0.55]

22 Wat heeft een EMS nodig aan data Een Motor Management Systeem gebruikt een aantal basisgegevens zoals: de positie van de krukas Toerental druk in het spruitstuk motor temperatuur Gasklephoek lucht temperatuur lambdawaarde. Aan de hand van deze meetgegevens zorgt de EMS voor de juiste hoeveelheid brandstof en dat het lucht-brandstofmengsel op het juiste moment ontsteekt.
