2 2009 CHALLENGER WHAT'S NEW WHAT S FOR NEW 2009 FOR 2009 Challenger is a five-passenger, two-door coupe that blends the best American muscle car characteristics with modern Dodge style, engineering and technology. Available in three distinct models SE, R/T and SRT8 the rear-wheel-drive Challenger takes to the streets with three distinct power levels: the confident 3.5L SOHC High Output V6, the next generation 5.7L HEMI VVT V8, and the pavement-pounding 6.1L SRT HEMI V8. A 6-speed manual transmission lets drivers take their HEMI-powered Challenger through the gears. Or, they can opt for the standard 5-speed AutoStick either would be a sweet choice. The front short- and long-arm suspension and five-link independent rear suspension system provides excellent ride and handling characteristics. Challenger s features list boasts more than 25 available safety and security features including four-wheel ABS, Electronic Stability Program*, Tire Pressure Monitoring and standard supplemental side-curtain air bags*. 5 2009 DODGE CHALLENGER/ 2009 CHALLENGER CHALLENGER SRT8 THE MARKET THE MARKET CHALLENGER With the right stuff available in the LX platform RWD and powerful HEMI V8s, the 2009 Challenger answers the call for a two-door muscle car from Dodge customers and fans. The result is a look that s familiar, but with much improved proportions over the original, featuring a wider stance, less front and rear overhang, larger tires and wheels, and a better fit and finish. Inside, the four round cluster gauge pods reflect the then-and-now Dodge priority of no-nonsense sporty functionality. The center console angles up and toward the driver creating a cockpit-like driver s space, just like the 1970s car. A contemporary pistol grip shifter design motivates the available six-speed manual transmission. The monochromatic interior is finished with upscale materials and rich trim stitching. The front buckets feature aggressive bolsters consistent with the performance capabilities of the car, yet retain the comfort and luxury of the other LX-based products. Rear seating is exceptional for a two-door coupe, providing belted seating for three passengers and a standard fold-down center armrest, as well as 60/40 fold-down capability coupled with a spacious trunk. Challenger is immediately a serious competitor in the Standard Specialty segment long dominated by the Ford Mustang, along with the soon-to-be-available 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. Challenger is built on the highly successful LX platform that produced the Dodge Charger. In function, technology, and luxury, Challenger is a twodoor Charger, yet offers the sporty image only a highperformance coupe can provide. Challenger, though only 4" shorter than Dodge Charger, is longer than both Ford Mustang (by 9.5") and Chevrolet Camaro (by 7.3"). While these competitors seat just four passengers, Challenger seats five and offers more trunk volume 3.0 cu ft more than Mustang and 4.9 cu ft more than Camaro. The 2009 Challenger SRT8 HEMI V8 features a 25 percent increase in horsepower output and a larger horsepower-per-liter output over the legendary street Hemi of the 60s and 70s. Challenger SRT8 puts this awesome power to the pavement through a specially calibrated, 5-speed driverselectable AutoStick or a Viper-inspired 6-speed Tremec manual transmission and robust clutch also based upon proven Viper performance technology. Whether equipped with the AutoStick or available 6-speed manual, a Sure Grip rear differential ensures none of that power is needlessly wasted. The result is panic stops of 0-60 mph in approximately 110 feet. If you re going to go fast, you d better be able to stop fast! With high-performance driving in mind, SRT8 even reduced brake knock-back. Brake knock-back mitigation is standard on SRT8 models. Brake knock-back counters the tendency caliper pistons and pads have, of getting pushed away from the rotors when driving through curves at high speeds on closed handling courses. This pad knock-back causes added brake pedal travel during the next braking event. Knock-back mitigation corrects this by utilizing the lateral G sensor and the ABS pump. The lateral G sensor determines when knock-back may have occurred and the pump primes the brake system to reseat the pads, resulting in less pedal travel during the next braking event. RACE-INSPIRED INTERIOR The awesome power and performance offered by Challenger SRT8 require that the driver be in a position of control. Deeply sculpted and highly bolstered sport seats with power adjustments hold occupants in place during maneuvers. There are two steps in this process: Reinforce the wisdom of their purchase decision Make sure the customer fully understands how to operate their vehicle To support their purchase decision, remind them of all the features that make their vehicle unique. By reviewing these features and their benefits, you can make a product advocate out of your customer. The second step is to demonstrate features. Show how a feature operates, then ask the customer to perform the same operation to be sure they understand it.
