8 StabiliTrak, ABS and Traction Control We ve equipped the VUE with StabiliTrak-Stability Control a system that uses the vehicle s electronic brake and traction control capabilities to provide added stability ABS for more precise, controlled braking performance, and Traction Control for enhanced traction. Person and machine as one Smart features on the VUE help keep you in control. A MacPherson strut front suspension, multi-link independent rear suspension, and a quickreacting hydraulic steering system (standard on V6 models) have been tuned to deliver a smooth, refined ride with responsive handling and solid on-center feel. 9 Cost-effective cruising This unique hybrid system mates an electric motor /generator to the 172-hp, 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine with a modified automatic transmission. VUE Hybrid Easy going To improve fuel economy, the VUE Hybrid has low-rollingresistance tires, a rear spoiler, and a ride height lowered by one inch. Beauty and brains The engine in the VUE Hybrid shuts off when the vehicle is brought to a stop to minimize idling, and it restarts promptly when the brake pedal is released. The 36-volt battery is connected to an Intelligent Charging System, which can automatically recognize the most efficient time for the power converter to recharge. Rethink being responsible. 10 VUE 2-Mode Hybrid (limited availability beginning spring 2009) V6 power With the 2-Mode, you will get powerful acceleration, a 3,500-lb. towing capability, 1 and the utility you d expect from a V6. Hybrid battery The twin 55-kW electric motors are powered by a 300-volt nickel-metal hydride hybrid battery pack and integrated into the automatic transmission. Mode 1 Operates at low speeds and light loads and works in one of three ways: all-electric, internal combustion engine, or a combination of the two. Mode 2 The second mode is used primarily at highway speeds to optimize efficiency. It provides electric assist in addition to 6-cylinder power when conditions demand it, such as trailer towing or climbing steep hills. The all-new 2009 Saturn VUE 2-Mode Hybrid is hard-working and smart. We designed it for customers who want the outstanding fuel savings of an advanced hybrid and the full power and towing capability of a V6. An efficiency gauge replaces the tachometer, and it will inform you when you re achieving maximum fuel economy. SPARE TIRE INFORMATION There is no jack or spare tire (and no place to store a tire) in the 2009 Saturn VUE Hybrid. Your vehicle has a tire sealant and compressor kit that uses a liquid tire sealant to temporarily seal up to a ¼-inch puncture in the tread area of the tire. After using the tire inflator kit, it is recommended that you take the tire to an authorized retailer for inspection and repair as soon as possible, but at least within 100 miles of driving. The tire sealant cannot seal and inflate sidewall damage, punctures larger than ¼ inch, or a tire that has unseated from the wheel.
