3 = Economical + Ecological Examples of Renault eco 2 cars, among dozens in the Renault range. The new Renault eco 2 symbol shows Renault s range of Economical and Ecological cars. Economical in terms of low fuel consumption, affordable engine technologies and lower road tax costs due to better emissions. Ecological in terms of measurable results at every stage of the vehicle lifecycle. Ecological in terms of the widespread impact of more environmentally-conscious car purchasing. As Renault eco 2 cars are more affordable, more people can choose them hence a bigger impact in total on the environment. Today s environmental challenges call for technological progress, which is applicable to as many vehicles as possible, at a cost customers can afford. The new Clio and Mégane Ethanol E85 are clear proof of Renault s Economical and Ecological commitment. A Renault eco 2 vehicle meets three environmental criteria covering the whole lifecycle: Twingo Twingo V 75 ISO since 2007 : 119 g/km 9% recycled plastic Twingo 1.2 TCe 100 ISO since 2007 : 132 g/km 9% recycled plastic Clio Clio 1.2 TCe 100 ISO since 2000 : 129 g/km 10% recycled plastic Clio dci 86 ISO since 2000 : 115 g/km 10% recycled plastic Modus Modus 1.2 TCE 100 ISO since 1999 : 140 g/km 13% recycled plastic Modus dci 86 ISO since 1999 : 119 g/km 13% recycled plastic In this price guide, each eco 2 vehicle is marked with the symbol Renault eco 2 criteria will be regularly updated to keep pace with new developments and ensure that the symbol denotes environmentally class-leading vehicles during their lifecycle. 4 Manufacturing Vehicles manufactured at plants certified to ISO ISO certifies a plant s approach to environmental progress. Since 1996, Renault has reduced its energy consumption by 25%, its water consumption by 57%, waste by 65%, volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions by 38%, and water-borne toxic discharge by 44%. In 2006, 39 industrial sites, covering over 90% of Renault operations worldwide, were certified to ISO The certification process is underway for the remaining 10%, just recently acquired by Renault in Russia and Morocco. Emissions Vehicles with emissions of 140g/km or less, or biofuel-compatible (ethanol E85). A low emission level is important because (carbon dioxide) is the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming. A large number of vehicles in Renault s eco 2 range emit less than 120 g/km of, qualifying them for UK Road Tax Band B. Many more vehicles meet the eco 2 emissions criteria of 140 g/km. Biofuel-capable vehicles also contribute to bringing down overall emissions, because the crops grown for making biofuels absorb from the atmosphere by photosynthesis as they are growing. Using ethanol as a fuel can reduce emissions by up to 70%. End of life/recycling Vehicles are 95% recoverable at the end-of-life, and at least 5% of plastics used in new vehicles are made from recycled materials. Like all Renault vehicles, a Renault eco 2 vehicle is designed so that 95% of its materials (by weight) will be reusable in one form or another. In addition, at least 5% of vehicle plastics on new eco 2 vehicles are made from recycled materials. Clio contains close to 20kg (10%) of recycled plastics, and Laguna around 35kg (17%). The table below illustrates the ' banding' and, therefore, the amount of Vehicle Excise Duty payable. These bandings are effective from 1st April 2010 and supersede any previous bandings. Following the government s commitment to reducing global warming, company cars are now taxed on their CO2 emissions. Using the latest in diesel technology, the Renault range has some of the lowest emissions amongst new cars on sale today. This easy guide will help you to calculate the amount of tax you will pay for any new Renault car by following 4 simple steps: Step 1 Each model in the Renault Car Price Guide has a Benefit In Kind (BIK) percentage rating for tax purposes. (See Car Benefit Table above) Example: New Mégane Hatch Dynamique dci 106 = 13%. Step 2 The price of the vehicle used for taxation (the P11D value) will be the Total Retail Price, plus the delivery charge of , plus any costed options. Example shown without costed options: New Mégane Hatch Dynamique dci 106 = 18, = 19, Step 3 Using the BIK figure, calculate the percentage of the vehicle that is liable for taxation. Example: New Mégane Hatch Dynamique dci 106 = 13% x 19, = 2, Step 4 Now calculate the amount of tax to be paid annually. This is based on the amount of income tax that you pay, either 20% or 40%. Example: New Mégane Hatch Dynamique dci 106 Car Benefit Charge = 2, x Income 20% = Tax Payable For an income tax payer of 20% the amount of tax to be paid on the New Mégane Hatch Dynamique dci 106 is therefore (for tax year 2010 to 2011).
