C JONATHAN CAPREE GONNA BUILD ME A MOUNTAIN OX BOW 3109 VG++ 2,000 First time ever on our list for this one. A disc which has truly built up to a mountain of demand in recent years and is genuinely a discovery of the new millennium sometimes its surprising how long certain newies have actually been around but we didn t ever see this one until ten years ago. D SPIDER TURNER I VE GOT TO GET MYSELF TOGETHER GOOD TIME 1019 VG Poor old Spyder gets mis-spelt on this one but what a side it is one of at least three versions of the song but easily the best, beating even writer Kenny Carter s own version on RCA.

2 E THE VALENTINOS SWEETER THAN THE DAY BEFORE CHESS 1977 M- 250 Contrary to what you may occasionally hear, Bobby Womack is not on this recording, but no matter it cannot be improved. Northern Soul of the highest grade and one of those lovely Chess white promos with the not for sale watermarked paper too. F GWEN RAY BUILD YOUR HOUSE ON A STRONG FOUNDATION BEE BEE 223 VG Ultra rare genuine original only the second copy were ever seen. If Holly St. James is four figures then this should be five surprisingly booted at least twice, if not three times. This one is a lighter orange with lighter print, the Matrix in the dead wax is at 6 o clock and the dead wax 8.5mm wide. You might never see it again. Great Deep Soul flipside by the way. G LYNN VERNADO SECOND HAND LOVE (IS NOT FOR ME) YUMIE 1000 VG One of only three released records from a great singer and again an elusive one that only occasionally crops up. Matrix number at Monarch evidences a 1974 recording, confusingly, the reissue/boot was done at the same plant 2 years later (but is a light blue label anyway). H DAVE MITCHELL THE TRIP P.S 2768 VG+ 200 In 1975 Ian Levine wrote in Black music if only Wigan had this one! with reference to this manic instrumental. Well they did get it, it went massive and was booted... on the Met label. It was to be many years before this, the true original first label, turned up. Not a minter so check the soundbite. I JO JO PETITE JOEY BOSS 0041 VG One of three West Coast records utilising the same backing track with the other two being male and female versions of Crazy, Crazy, as is this one, but with slightly different lyrics. All are scarce but this probably is the rarest. J THE ABSTRACT REALITY LOVE BURNS LIKE A FIRE INSIDE SPORT 104 M- 200 Michael and Raymond strike again over a tremendous Detroit backing (also used by Joan Doval on Sport). The instrumental flip is credited to Gordon Berry(!) no wonder it's a rarity then.
