3 President s Message Our August meeting was held at Wagner s Drive- In, and while it was a rainy evening, it was a good in-between from the heat of the previous weekend and the snow that will be flying sooner than we d like! Leann brought to our attention to an opportunity to help out at the upcoming Hastings Car Show on Labor Day weekend--and while it would be a good idea, many of the members in attendance had plans for the holiday already. She is going to check into maybe helping on a different date so please consider attending some of the monthly meetings and we can get a better idea of who might be available to help in this and other areas. Please remember: our Club is only as good as the members who present ideas, help plan, and volunteer for various events. Todd suggested that we mark our calendars for a Club Event Day at Rock Falls Racetrack on Sunday, September 27th. It would be a fun day for everyone to gather to both visit and to view some of the performance that those cars are known for! Consider packing a lunch and heading down for the day, we d love to see you there. Our September meeting will be back at the Rosetown Legion so we can dial in on the details for the Apple Valley Car Show. This will be our 14th Annual show with the dealership and we d like to continue the relationship for some time to come. Please consider helping if you can, or at the very least come to represent the Club and bring some friends with for the day. For those who aren t familiar, bring a food shelf donation and you ll get a free lunch to boot! What a great way to wrap up the summer months! Tony Miller, Tomahawk Chief Page 2
4 Other Events The Muscle Car Drag Race is on September 27 at Rock Falls Raceway. Some of our members plan to be there. August Meeting Minutes 8/18/15 We met at Wagner s Drive Inn under the canopy because of the rain. There were 12 members present and the meeting was called to order at 7:15. The July meeting minutes were read and accepted. Jim gave a treasurer s report and we have 3 new members. The Duluth Street Race is on September this year. Steve Mudbird Weese Tomahawk Chapter Secretary New Business Welcome new member Paul Lindahl, who has a 1977 Grand Prix with 44, 000 original miles. Valley Buick/ GMC Show We have show fliers for us to pass out. We will meet at the Rosetown Legion on September 15 to discuss final details for the show. Nick is getting the trophies. The food will be served until 1:00. Ballots are to be turned in at 1:00. Awards Hastings We have an opportunity to host this show on Labor Day weekend. We would need 4 to 5 people to run the event and receive 12 spots for our cars. This event is for 1976 and older cars. As we discussed this event we did not think enough of our member s could make that weekend. We will see if another day is available. Membership Meeting Tues, Sept. 15 7:00 pm Rosetown American Legion Roseville, MN Page 3
5 Meanwhile... Back at the Pontiac Ranch While I am sad to see Summer sliping away so fast here, I must admit that I do like Fall in Minnesota: the cooler temps, the changing colors of the leaves and the few remaining car shows and events to attend. My brother Jamie and I are going to attend the Pontiac Adveture to be held in the Wisconsin Dells Sept th at the Chula Vista Resort. It sounds like a fun time, see for more details. I wanted to share some photos from the POCI Convention and the Minnesota members that brought cars down for the show and the drag race. See photos on pages 6-8. Congratulations to the winners. Let me know if I missed anyone POCI Convention Bettendorf, IA Isle Hotel & Casino July On-line registration is now available at poci.org. Check the poci.org website for hotel availability and convention updates, or call the the POCI Club Office at (877) I hope many of you can attend the Valley Buick/GMC Car Show/BBQ on Saturday, Spet. 19th in Apple Valley. Let s keep those Ponchos rollin! Paul Bergstrom, Tomatalk Editor Page 4
