9 BRIGHT SPOTS Marker Loads Bright Spots were used in the automobile industry to do braking test. An instrument was attached to the car s braking system that worked on a pendulum. When the brakes were applied the system swung forward and fired a yellow or green caulk straight down onto the pavement marking where the brakes were applied. The distance could then be measured from the chalk spot to the final stopped place on the vehicle. The AAA was instrumental in distributing them to places like high school driving classes to illustrate how far a vehicle travels until completely stopped and driver s reaction time. Traditionally the were Long or Long Rifle primed cases filled with a colored caulk substance with a white over-wad. Several headstamps have been noted such as the Western diamond, Remington, none, etc. so it is assumed that they loaded whatever they could purchase. D.W. Pointious of Columbus, Ohio seems to be the primary distributor and loader. The cartridges were also made in 45 Auto. NOTE: These were not made to be fired in a firearm. LR-1.22 LONG RIFLE. The stun gun has a tube holding rounds and is fired by pushing the barrel down and squeezing the trigger. These cartridges can also be used in standard firearm chambered for.22 Long Rifle. A company was started and the small steel balls were soon being place in Winchester ammunition. Centerfire ammunition is seen the most with this addition.

13 Hoxie Ammunition Co. Power Plus Enterprises, Inc On February 5th, 1907, Gilbert H. Hoxie was awarded U. S. patent # 843,017 which called for the placing of a small steel ball in the nose of standard bullets with the idea that the steel ball would increase penetration. A company was started and the small steel balls were soon being place in Winchester ammunition. Centerfire ammunition is seen the most with this addition. Only one box of rimfire ammunition has been found. It is pictured here in Winchester 22 Automatic caliber. The lone surviving round also has the distinctive letter W on the case near the mouth.
