8 Structure: Group work: Engine Systems Exercise Classes Weeks 1-4: Modeling of an intake manifold in Matlab/Simulink using measurements from a real engine Weeks 5-13: 1. Modeling of a complete engine (mean value model), including taking your own measurements at the test bench 2. Synthesis of a model-based idle-speed controller 3. Competition of all controllers win a pizza voucher for your team Individual effort Weeks 1-13: Theory exercises will be handed out on a regular basis
9 Engine Systems Exercise Classes Useful information: You will form groups of 4 people in the first exercise class An extensive exercise instruction script will be made available online during the first week of the course You can find the class facts sheet online it contains all information concerning deadlines etc. Solving the exercises or attending the exercise classes is not mandatory, however, we can not stress enough that understanding the theory helps a lot at the oreal exam. The class text book will be made available as.pdf-file Last but not least: We love teaching and it is important to us that you understand the material taught in class. However, there are no official office hours. If you have questions that we did not answer in the exercise class, just send us a mail and we will arrange a meeting.
