The Opel is a bit more turquoise-blue than the original. I haven't got the beige Volvo so I can't say if that's the correct colour. Otherwise quite accurate. 1 / 11

8 The nature of Atlas collections is, that you subscribe and get all or nothing, but too few of the models have a wide enough appeal to 'carry' a system like that... Trucks/lorries are, by nature, less international than road cars, so while many road cars would be familiar to vast international audiences, the same can't be said about the comercial vehicles - in Denmark, for example, we had trucks/lorries from Sweden, UK and Germany... and hardly anywhere else. In the UK, it was probably mostly domestic brands that dominated, in France it was all French and so on. I don't think I've ever seen a Unic, Somua, Panhard, Berliet or Pegaso in my life, but series subscribers would get lots of miniature ones with no option to skip. Speaking of miniatures, that is the other problem - a lot of the classic Dinky lorries/trucks were severely downscaled compared to their other models, making them - as somebody noted above - quite underwhelming. Even as a child I found it unappealing to mix toy cars of different scales, where a truck would have the same height and track-width as a Mini, for example... just didn't make sense, and still doesn't. Apart from the authenticity, downscaling also loses a lot of potential for detailing, so the overall appearence tended to be much cruder than that of road cars. While it is possible that a downscaled UK truck/lorry may just be able to appeal to a domestic UK audience, and the same for a french one in France, it just doesn't work on foreign markets: a tiny model of a completely unfamiliar truck is just too much of a problem, and because it's not possible to skip without cancelling, that's exactly what international audiences have been doing. 9 The Leyland Octopus which arrived last week Posted by Gradon - 03 Jan :12 It is interesting to note that a couple of months ago, when I contacted Atlas a couple of months ago, they told me this commercial Range was of 31 models, as this Range proved popular, they were looking to extend it and yet, just before Christmas, before the above Leyland was released, the collection was close as complete, Very Strange! There are a number of highly sought after, well-known and popular models that make people sign up, but it doesn't take much before people start unsubscribing again downscaled and/or obscure marques in a row, and frustration and disappointment sets in. The Leyland, for sure, is one of those models that most people would have wanted. Posted by calopez1-03 Jan :36 karls - you're quite right, the Isobloc should be 29E. I was going by the French list at com/atlas/dinky/pdf/dink...-editions_atlas.pdf. That does show 31 models, with the last 6 not made. Of those six, I would only have really liked two (and you can probably guess which ones!) As Teebodk says, quite a few of the models in the series won't appeal to many people, and as you can't pick and choose which ones you get, subscribers will drop out, making the remaining models less and less viable to produce. 9 / 11

10 I myself cancelled after the Heinz van - I didn't find the Bedford tipper particularly attractive - and only resumed when I saw (on here) what others were receiving, such as the Spratt's van. I'm still waiting for that - will I ever actually get it? But I wonder how it would have been if Atlas had been a 'normal' retailer, from whom you could buy whichever model whenever you wanted it. I'm not sure I would have even started collecting them. There's something quite nice, I think, in receiving a package every month, even if the contents sometimes disappoint! I also agree with Teebodk's comments regarding scale, though of course that's not Atlas's fault. Maybe they could have tried differential pricing: 20 for a large lorry is reasonable, in my opinion, but much less so for the tiny Isobloc. Posted by NSHDK - 04 Jan :08 "Me too" - I also agree to the fact, that Atlas have a funny way to deliver the models; I canceled the subscription after first getting three cranes, not identical, but very alike. Thereafter I recieved the attractive horse transporter, and then three different GAK Berliet trucks; 1 crane and two tippers, all with the same cab. All of them at a price around 25,00 a piece. I now try to get the models I want at ebay. I really think Atlas should reconsider a different way of marketing their otherwise nice models. I cancelled the original collection after receiving too many very simple older vehicles like the racing cars that I have zero interest in, which over time failed to mitigate the arrival of the later models with suspension and turned stainless wheels that I much prefer. 10 / 11

Some time ago Deagostini shelved the shelved the Dinky. collection on the U,K market after only 6 models, those models, I assume, were to test the market,for a future date, well, last night I discovered that future date has now arrived only this week, As looking on the Deagostini website, the Dinky Range was formally launched, This actually poses a couple of problems, the first models are the same models as the test models, well I already have those! The other issue is they are released every fortnight, is this another marketing ploy.. The garage was originally intend only after the final model would be released, now it would be available much earlier, but only to premium members!. This Range amazingly starts at the same time as two atlas dinky collections finish in France and the Uk truck collection finishes early, that must be more than a coincidence! Also I wonder, will the Atlas brand be dropped at some point, in favour of Deagostini!
