3 National Transplant Registry INTRODUCTION The data obtained demonstrated that documentation and reporting by tissue/bone banks has improved. Bone Bank (HKL), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Bank and University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) Bone Bank constantly notified NTR on tissues they received/procured and provided data on tissues they had distributed since 20. However, NTR has not received any Bone and Transplant Notification Form in 20 and 202. Thus, we could not document on how the tissues were utilised. We hope to get maximum participation and commitment from health professionals who perform bone and tissue transplantation in the near future. 7. TISSUE DONOR HOSPITALS AND TYPES OF DONATED TISSUES Table 7.., Table 7..2 and Table 7..3 show the hospitals where tissue donation took place, the types of donated tissues and the bank where the tissues were sent to for processing, storage and distribution in 20 and 202. As per record, there were 6 deceased bone donors in 202. The procurement of tissues from deceased donors was conducted by the team from Bone Bank HKL and UMMC Bone Bank. Only femur and tibia were procured from the deceased donors. UMMC Bone Bank and USM Bank were actively involved in the Living Donor Programme. These banks collected and/or processed donated femoral heads and amniotic membrane for transplantation. Table 7.. Buloh HOSPITALS/CENTRES WHERE TISSUES WERE DISTRIBUTED AND THE TYPES OF TISSUES UTILISED FOR TRANSPLANTATION The hospitals/centres where tissues were distributed and the types of tissues utilised for transplantation are shown in Table 7.2., Table 7.2.2, Table and Table No tendon, skin or fascia was distributed in 20 and 202. Freeze dried bone and preserved amniotic membrane were provided by USM Bank as it is the only tissue bank that processes bone and amniotic membrane. The data in Table were provided by Bone Bank HKL. It reveals that the surgeons had imported achilles tendons for transplantation in 20 and 202. This shows that tendons need to be procured from deceased donor where appropriate.
