A Page 2 of 5 Description VACUUM SEAL-OFF VALVE MODEL VP-46 VACUUM SEAL-OFF OPERATOR MODEL VP-47 INSTALLATION, OPERATION & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS Models VP-46, VP-47 Spare Part Information on Attached Sheets Installation (Figure 1) 1. Remove Cap (3), Remove Plug Assembly (2, 5), by pushing from inside Valve Body (1); and O-Ring (4) from Valve Body (1). 2. Prepare connection on equipment with proper size hole. Position Valve Body (1) on equipment and weld in place. NOTE: All Valve Bodies (1) are 304 Stainless Steel. Protect O-Ring groove, Valve Seat and Threads during welding operation. 3. Clean O-Ring (4), O-Ring groove and Valve Seat. Apply a very thin film of vacuum grease to O-Ring (4) and replace in groove. Apply a light film of vacuum grease to internal part of body and lip. Replace Plug Assembly (2, 5). Valve is now ready for pump-down operation. Pump-Down and Seal Off Operation 1. Attach proper size Operator (Figure 2) to Valve Body (1). Connect pumping system to Operator and activate pumping system. Evacuate line between pumping system and Seal-off Valve. Engage Operator Lifter (7) with Plug Assembly (2, 5) and rotate clockwise (approximately 5 turns) pull Operator Lifter (7), Handle (2) up to free Plug Assembly (2, 5) from Valve Body (1). Push Handle (2) down to vertical position, locking Plug Assembly (2, 5) in the open position. 2. When pump-down process has been completed, rotate Handle (2) to horizontal position; push Handle (2) down to seat Plug Assembly (2, 5) on the lip of Valve Body (1); rotate Handle (2) counter-clockwise 10 turns until Handle (2) disengages from Plug Assembly (2, 5). Remove Operator and replace Cap (3). Maintenance 1. Valve Assembly (Figure 1) Since the entire assembly is stainless steel, with proper care, the Valve Assembly should require very little maintenance. Cleaning of Valve Assembly can be accomplished by removing the Cap (3) and Plug Assembly (2, 5) (CAUTION: This will cause the assembly to lose vacuum.) from Valve Body (1). Disassemble the Plug Assembly (2, 5) by removing O-Rings (5) from Plug Disc (2). Clean O-Ring grooves, and clean or replace O-Rings (5) and apply a very thin film of vacuum grease. Remove O-Ring (4), Clean O-Ring groove, and clean or replace O-Rings (5) and apply a very thin film of vacuum grease. After cleaning of all parts, Valve may be assembled in reverse order of above instructions. 06/04 Rev. A

Operator Assembly (Figure 2) Care should always be taken as not to nick or scar the sealing surfaces of the Shaft (7), Adapter (12 or 13), and Gland Nut (4). To disassemble the PHPK Seal-off Valve Operators, back off the one-piece Gland Nut (4); remove Ball Plunger (1), from Handle (2); remove Pin (3), withdraw the Shaft (7) using extreme care not to damage O-Ring (6). Remove O- Rings (5, 6) from Gland Nut (4). Clean or replace O-Rings (5, 6) and apply a very thin film of vacuum grease. Clean Gland Nut (4). Replace O-Rings (5, 6). Remove Adapter (12 or 13) from Body (8). Clean or replace O-Ring (11) and apply a very thin film of vacuum grease. Clean O-Ring groove on Pump-Out Port (12 or 13) and face seal on Body (8). Replace O-Ring (11). If O-Rings (5, 6, 11) show evidence of wear, they should be replaced. After cleaning of all parts, Operator may be assembled in reverse order of above instructions. 06/04 Rev. A
