Using the loop control, pull the rear bead chain to lower the shade Hanging the Shade and the front bead chain to raise. Insert the rail into the opening of the bracket. Push the rail back until it is fully engaged. 11 smithandnoble.com

Overview Step 2 Mounting s Loop Control with Aluminum Valance Aluminum Valance Inside Mount The brackets can be mounted up against the window frame, or against the side of the window casing. Make sure the mounting brackets are level. The brackets are always mounted so that the inner surfaces face each other. s are mounted with the open end down. Outside Mount Cord Tensioner Mount to wall or window frame. Make sure the mounting brackets are level. The brackets are always mounted so that the inner surfaces face each other. s are mounted with the open end down. Bottom Bar Extension Mounting Extension (Optional) Extension s are used to project the shade out from the mounting surface. This will allow the shade to avoid window cranks and door knobs when raised and lowered. Attach the extension brackets to the wall with the screws provided (or appropriate fasteners for your mounting surface) making sure they are aligned. Attach the mounting brackets to the extension brackets with the bolts and nuts provided. The bracket with the metal post is the control bracket and should be mounted in the same position as ordered, either left or right. The space between the brackets when mounted should be the width of the aluminum valance. 13 smithandnoble.com

Step 3 Hanging the Shade Step 4 Attaching the Valance Hanging the Shade Once the brackets are secured and level, the fabric roll can be inserted. Make sure your hands are clean to avoid soiling the fabric. Insert the foot of the control side bracket into the slotted center hole of the clutch. Set nub of the end plug into the V of the support bracket. Rotate Support T-Hook Valance Cover Peel & Stick Tape Valance Cover - Outside Mount You will be attaching the valance bracket cover to the valance bracket with the peel & stick tape provided is on the back of the brackets. Before you remove the tape backing, line up the bracket cover in the correct position to ensure proper fit. the T-hook on the support bracket to engage over the nub on the idler and secure the fabric roll. Nub After you have determined the correct position of the bracket cover, peel off the tape backing and simply press it onto the end of the bracket. Clutch Control Side See illustration to left. Step 5 Installing Cord Tensioner Step 4 Attaching the Valance Attaching the Valance Attach the valance by first hooking the top lip of the valance panel onto the bracket as shown. Swing the bottom of the valance panel towards the bracket and gently press at the bottom of the panel until the lip on the valance engages and snaps lock to the bracket. Foot Installing Cord Tensioner Your window shade has arrived with a cord tensioner to comply with current child safety standards. The cord tensioner MUST be mounted and secured before the window shade will operate correctly. To position the tensioner, grasp the screw hole and pull down to release the lock. Pull the cord through the tensioner until the tensioner is at the bottom of the cord loop. Please see cord tensioner guide on how to install (included separately). 15 smithandnoble.com

Step 5 Operating your Shade Optional Operating your Shade Hold Down Opening and closing your new Smith & Noble shades is entirely hasslefree. Using the loop control, pull the rear bead chain to lower the shade and, the front bead chain to raise. Rear Bead Chain Front Bead Chain Hold Down Optional Hold Down s are mounted with the supplied screws. With the shade at its proper drop, place the pin of each Hold Down into the hole in each End Cap and make sure the pins are level and aligned. Raise the shade, then screw the Hold Down into the mounting surface. Optional Troubleshooting Skew Adjustment If the shade does not raise evenly, first make sure the mounting brackets are mounted level with each other. If the shade is level and it still skews, operate the shade to the full down position. Prepare a strip of masking tape approximately 5 long. On the side of the shade opposite of the skewing direction, and as close to the end of the roller as possible, lift the fabric toward the back of the shade using your fingers and slide the tape with the sticky side facing the roller up as far as possible. The tape is to be running parallel to the roller. Roll the shade up and check for skewing. If the shade is still skewing, add another strip of tape on top of the first one. If the shade is now skewing in the opposite direction, tear off about 1 of tape from the last strip installed. The tape is to be torn from the end closest to the center of the shade. If these suggestions don t work, then please give us a call or visit our website. Fabric Roll Place tape at this end PROBLEM SOLUTION Make sure the mounting brackets are The shade fabric does not roll up evenly aligned and level with one another. The shade may be caught on an obstruction The shade will not raise such as a window crank or latch; if this is the case feel free to untangle. If these suggestions don t work, then please give us a call or visit our website. Care & Cleaning Care & Cleaning /Safety Use brush or dust head attachment. Occasional light vacuuming with a soft bristle attachment or gentle feather dusting is all that is required to keep your shades looking fresh and neat. Safety First. Style Second To None. Great style should never come at the cost of safety. Every Smith & Noble window treatment conforms strictly to today s safety standards, including permanent tiedown devices and built-in cord stops. To protect young children and pets, Loop Control works with a cord tensioner, which must be mounted to your window frame or wall. The shade or blind will not work if the cord tensioner is not mounted. Child Safety 17 smithandnoble.com

Warranty Service The enjoyment of your window coverings should be everlasting, which is why our products come with a limited lifetime warranty. The warranty applies to the original owner, requires a proof of purchase and covers defects in material or craftsmanship. Shades or blinds must have been properly installed.
