() (+) () (+) EM V0 BM V BM EM F089 Disconnect the connectors from (V0, V) the hydraulic brake Connect battery positive (+) lead to BM or BM terminal and battery negative () lead to EM or EM terminal of the hydraulic brake booster (pump motor) connector. : The operation sound of the pump motor should be heard. Go to step 9. Check for short circuit (to B+) in harness and connector between BM or BM of hydraulic brake booster and ABS MTR relay or TRC MTR relay (See page IN8). Check for short circuit (to B+) in harness and connector between MT of hydraulic brake booster and skid control ECU (See page IN8). 00 RUNNER (RM887U) 80
3 DIAGNOSTICS DI0 Check pressure switch (PH). In case of using the handheld tester: (a) Connect the handheld tester to DLC. (b) Turn the ignition switch ON and push the handheld tester main switch ON. (c) Select the DATALIST mode on the handheld tester. Depress the brake pedal more than 0 times with the ignition switch OFF then turn the ignition switch ON and check the pressure switch (PH) condition. When the pressure in power supply system is released, reaction force becomes heavy and stroke becomes shorter. : OFF turns to ON. OFF: Low pressure ON: High pressure In case of not using the handheld tester: (a) Disconnect the connector (V0) from the hydraulic brake LOCK ON PH (b) With the ignition switch OFF, depress the brake pedal V0 more than 0 times to decrease the accumulator pressure. PHG When the pressure in power supply system is released, reaction force becomes heavy and stroke becomes shorter. F086 Measure resistance between terminals PH and PHG of the hydraulic : Resistance:.0 kω (a) Connect the connector (V0) to the hydraulic brake (b) Disconnect the connector (V0) after the ignition switch has been ON and the pump motor has stopped. Measure resistance between terminals PH and PHG of the hydraulic : Resistance: 0 Ω After inspection, connect the connector and clear the DTC (See page DI). Replace hydraulic brake booster assembly. 00 RUNNER (RM887U) 8
4 DI06 DIAGNOSTICS Check pressure switch (PL). In case of using the handheld tester: (a) Connect the handheld tester to DLC. (b) Turn the ignition switch ON and push the handheld tester main switch ON. (c) Select the DATALIST mode on the handheld tester. Depress the brake pedal more than 0 times with the ignition switch OFF then turn the ignition switch ON and check the pressure switch (PL) condition. When the pressure in power supply system is released, reaction force becomes heavy and stroke becomes shorter. : OFF turns to ON. OFF: Low pressure ON: High pressure In case of not using the handheld tester: V (a) Disconnect the connector (V) from the hydraulic brake PL LOCK ON (b) With the ignition switch OFF, depress the brake pedal PLG more than 0 times to decrease the accumulator pressure. When the pressure in power supply system is released, reaction force becomes heavy and stroke becomes shorter. F086 Measure resistance between terminals PL and PLG of the hydraulic : Resistance:.7 kω (a) Connect the connector (V) to the hydraulic brake (b) Disconnect the connector (V) after the ignition switch has been ON and the pump motor has stopped. Measure resistance between terminals PL and PLG of the hydraulic : Resistance:.0 kω 00 RUNNER (RM887U) 8
5 DIAGNOSTICS DI07 After inspection, connect the connector and clear the DTC (See page DI). Replace hydraulic brake booster assembly. 6 Check for short circuit (to B+) in harness and connector between pressure switch and skid control ECU (See page IN8). 7 Check ABS MTR relay and TRC MTR relay. Open Remove the ABS MTR relay and TRC MTR relay from VSC R/B. Check continuity between each pair of terminals of the motor relay. : Terminals and (Reference value ) Terminals and * : ABS MTR relay 6 Ω TRC MTR relay Ω Open (a) Apply battery positive voltage between terminals and.
