1 Setup for using our speedometer with GPS sensor Wiring: Speedometer red (1) power +12V Speedometer black (5) - ground Speedometer green (4) LED illumination (can be 12V) Speedometer blue (7) signal input, connect to white lead on GPS sensor. GPS red - power +12V GPS black ground GPS white Speedometer blue Set speedometer parameter: Go to Config menu on speedometer setup (see speedometer manual) Set the parameter SetPPU to No need to do any further calibration. 2 Speedometer Setup Menu Warning: Take your time with the instruction manual. The better you understand the concepts, the faster you'll set up the gauges properly. To activate and access the configuration menu, Touch the front when the pointer start to move right upon powering up. Keep pressing it until the pointer goes back to zero and the LCD screen lights up again. Allow at least 3-5 seconds. Speedo and Tach Wiring: Red (1) : Power +12V Black (5) Ground Green (4) LED illumination Blue (7) Signal Input, for all senders. The connections below show optional features: Yellow (8): Shift #3 (or Speed) warning, uses a 400 Ohm internal resistor. The internal LED will light when the speed or rpm limit is reached. The output will change from 12V to 0V when the needle passes this set point. Brown (3): Shift #2, uses a 400 Ohm internal resistor. Connect an external 10K resistor to get 12V to 0V to light the LED when this set point is reached. Dk Gray (2): Shift #1, with 400 Ohms internal resistor. Connect an external 10K resistor to get 12V to 0V to light the LED when this set point is reached. White (6): Remote reset input, optional. Connect to +12 volts via external switch. Page 1 of 5

3 Switch Selections: Input type Switch select Speedo, hall effect sender (logic input, square wave, 12V) 110 Speedo, magnetic sender (analog input, sine wave, 2.1V min.) 111 Speedo, S1 can set to 0 if not working at high speeds 0xx Speedo, S2 can set to 0 if reading not stable x0x Tachometer, Ignition coil or W terminal (high voltage) 110 Tachometer, magnetic sender (analog input, sine wave, 2.1V min.) 111 Tachometer, multispark tacho output (MSD ignitions, 2.1V min.) 000 Tachometer, S1 can set to 0 if not working in high RPM 0xx Tachometer, S2 can set to 0 if reading not stable x0x Notes: The default pin setting is "000", and works in most instances. If the pointer isn't stable in any application, switches 1 and 2 can be reversed to experiment with the compatibility between the source and the gauge. S3 should NEVER be on "1" when the input (blue, Pin 7) is connected to a coil ignition. Damage will occur. Coil ignitions can have a 400V spark signal that will damage the gauge circuitry if S3 is on. Therefore S3 should normally be set to the "0" position. Page 2 of 5

4 To activate and access the configuration and calibration menu: 1. Turn on the power and touch the momentary button as the pointer starts to move to right. Hold the button down. 2. The LCD illumination will confirm that the set/reset switch display is working 3. Hold the button 3 seconds until CltrIP is displayed. 4. Push the momentary button to scroll through the menu. CltrIP = Clear trip Odometer HS-Ind = Set high speed indicator ConFI9 = Configuration menu 5. Hold the button for 3 seconds to advance each sub-setup menu CltrIP Clear trip Odometer Trip ODO resets to zero LCD returns to OD display HS-Ind Sets high speed indicator 3 digits xxx Push the momentary button to change each digit All digits flash after last digit is set Push the button momentary while the digits flash to confirm the setting LCD returns to total ODO. ConFI9 Configuration menu Push the momentary button to scroll through each menu: ClrSEr = Clear service counter SetSEr = Set service counter SetPPU = Set pulses per mile calibration DtSPPU = Drive to set pulses per mile calibration. Hold the button for 3 seconds to advance each sub-setup menu ClrSEr Clear Service Counter LCD display ClrSEr flashes Hold the button while the digits flash to confirm clear. LCD returns to display total ODO. SetSEr Set Service Counter 6 digits xxxxxx Push button momentary to increment each digit in turn. All digits flash after last digit is set Push button momentary while digits flash to confirm set. LCD returns to total ODO. SetPPU Set Pulses Per Mile calibration Page 3 of 5

LCD returns to total ODO. The speedometer process is required and is important. The gauge default is pulses. Increasing the number will decrease the display reading. For example, if the setting is reading pulses per minute, the gauge reading is 60 mph, changing the setting to (increase 50%) will change the display to 40 mph (50% decrease). See the formula below. Don't exceed the maximum setting of pulses. Formula: New reading = old reading x old setting / new setting; Or: New setting = old setting x old reading / new reading (correct MPH) Solving Speedometer Error--You can test the speedometer by checking against a known speed. The easiest way to do this is to download a GPS speedometer app on a smart phone. Many are free. The difference between the actual speed and stated speed will determine what number to use to set the speedometer. For example, if the default setting of pulses equals (displayed) 60 mph, and you find the actual speed is 140 mph (speedo reading too low), then you can use the following calculation: x 60 / 140 = 6857, and then set the pulse count to 6857 and your speedometer will be accurate! Speed Calibration method 1: (same as above) To calibrate the speedometer, have a friend sit in the passenger seat and open a GPS application on their phone. Find a road to safely drive your car at a steady 50mph. At 50 mph, note the reading on your new speedometer (speed-a). PPU (new setting) = 50 x / speed-a Got to SetPPU to set the correct pulse number (X) Speed Calibration method 2: Purchase our GPS Antenna unit, The GPS Antenna works at a higher receiving (10HZ) rate than a typical cell phone, and is able to give more accurate data at high speeds or changing speeds. Check the website for speedometer compatibility. For most speedometers, the GPS antenna Page 4 of 5

6 automatically converts real speed inputs from GPS data into the default pulses that can be read by our line of speedometers. Speed Calibration method 3: DtSPPU Drive to set pulses per mile calibration. LCD display 5 digits and toggle 0xxxxx Drive vehicle exactly 1 mile--using road mile markers are the best option Stop car after driving LCD returns to total ODO reading Notes: 1. In older cars, the typical setting is 8,000 pulse/mile 2. the maximum pulse count is 64, If you don t drive within 5 seconds while in DtSPPU mode, the menu will quit Page 5 of 5
