7 16 CONTROLS AND INSTRUMENTS MANIFOLD HEAT CONTROL VALVE. The purpose of this control, located in the engine manifold, is to improve engine performance and efficiency in hot or cold weather by controlling the path taken by the hot exhaust gases. Manifold Heat Control Valve (Gasoline) Manifold Heat Control (All-Fuel) On gasoline -burning tractors the words "HOT" and "COLD" are stamped on opposite sides of the valve as shown in the illustration above. On All-Fuel engines an indicator on the valve points to the letters "C" or "H" stamped on the manifold (see illustration at left). Turning the valve to the "H" or "HOT" position causes the exhaust gases to warm the incoming fuel and air mixture before it enters the combustion chamber of the engine. This position is for use in cold weather (below 32 F.),

8 OPERATION 53 Place the two halves of breakaway coupling together and force rear half ahead by means of a screwdriver inserted in the slot provided. NOTE: Pressure in the lines which connect the breakaway coupling to the Powr-Trol housing can be relieved by stopping the engine and moving the Powr-Trol lever forward and backward. Always wipe valve faces on the couplings free from dirt before the two halves of the breakaway coupling are joined together. Rockshaft Opera tion when Tractor is Equipped with Breakaway Coupling. Coupling ReTnote Cylinder Hoses Disconnect remote cylinder from tractor by uncoupling the breakaway coupling. The two halves of the coupling may be separated either by a quick pull on the hose lines which are attached to the implement or by moving the coupling release trigger toward the implement. Remove cap from selector valve body and screw inner valve out until the inside end of knurled section lines up with outer end of selector valve body. Replace cap.
