1 SCB-PPI Programmable Power Interrupt Installation and Operation Instructions Description The SCB-PPI Programmable Power Interrupt is a fully digital and programmable unit used to interrupt the coil charge in any motorcycle without activating an engine or FI warning code. This unit also activates the shift solenoid with an adjustable offset for perfect and quick shifting every time. Using the Shift Solenoid Offset adjustment allows the user to adjust the lead time for the air-solenoid turn on. This allows adjustments to compensate for long air lines and insures that air pressure is applied at the correct time before the Ignition Power Interrupt. Not all systems are the same, this is why the unit is adjustable. Each application will need to be tested for optimum performance and adjusted as needed by the user. Installation Please follow the instructions and guidelines listed below for best performance. Location Begin by finding a location for the SCB-PPI unit away from engine heat, moisture, and electrical noise. (tail section is best). Power & Ground The SCB-PPI unit should be powered anytime the key is on. A good + volt source is the tail light wire (always hot with ignition on) or from the fuse box. Ground should always go straight to the negative side of the battery. Coil Wiring The SCB-PPI unit interrupts the ground side of the ignition coils. Locate the ground wires going to the coils. For most stick coil applications, the positive wire is the same color with every coil and the negative is a different color for every coil. You can solder the coil lead unto the negative coil wires, or you can use the Schnitz Coil Wiring Harness with factory connectors (please ask sales rep for details). On a two coil system, you will only use two of the coil lead wires. The SCB-PPI may also be used with older ignition systems that are not Stick Coil design. Activation The SCB-PPI unit can be + volt or Ground activated from the factory horn or starter switch. You can also use a separate push button switch or RPM switch to activate the system as well. There are two separate wires for the + volt and Ground Activation signals. The Yellow wire is the for + volt activation and the Green wire is for Ground activation. Either activation input may be used, this method allows the SCB-PPI to used with systems that are + volt or Ground controlled without the need to re-wire an existing installation. Setting Ignition Interrupt Time Please see Page 5. Setting Shift Solenoid Offset Time Please see Page 5. NOTE The Interrupt Time and Shift Offset settings are also located under the SCB-PPI cover. Remove the four screws attaching the cover and remove lid to adjust settings.

2 Use Butt Splice Shift Solenoid Installer must determine which wires are +V and which are Negative. The SCB-PPI kill wires MUST only be connected to the coil negative wires! Plug-and-Play wiring harness is available for some models. See Pages 3,4 for more information. Contact Schnitz to order. SCB-PPI POWER P ROGRAMMABLE PI OWER NTERRUPT Connect to Key-On + volts Connect to Battery Ground Horn Switch and/or Shift Switch Use either + volt Activation or Ground Activation. Do NOT use both! Ground

3 SCH303 ENGINE KILL WIRING HARNESS IMPORTANT For motorcycles with volt wire on right side of coil harness ONLY! Picture A Locate your factory coils. Check each coil for wire colors going to them. Generally the positive wires are all one color and the negatives for each cylinder are all different colors or have a different color stripe. For the SCH303, you must make sure that the positive wire is connected to the red wire. You may need to trim some of the electrical tape to see them clearly. Picture B Connect SCH303 harness to factory harness and coils. Picture C Run all 4 black wires to the SCB-PPI controller. Cut them to length. Then, strip the wire to attach the male terminals to each of them. Be sure to use the proper crimping tool. Picture D Finally, insert the male terminal into the female connector. Repeat for all 4 wires and plug the female connector into the male connector on the SCB-PPI controller. A B C D 3

5 5 SCHNITZ Interrupt Time The Interrupt time is adjustable from 0ms to 80ms to work with any engine and transmission combination. You want the shortest amount of time possible while still being able to make complete shifts. Always remove power to the SBC-PPI unit before making a change to Interrupt Time or Solenoid Offset Time. To test the unit, disconnect all air lines and set the interrupt time to 90ms Rev the bike to approximately 3,000 RPM. Activate the system with the bike running. You should hear the unit interrupt the engine NOTE New switch settings will only be recognized when the unit is powered up! Always remove power to the SBC-PPI unit before making a change to Interrupt Time or Solenoid Offset Time. With the key on and all air lines disconnected, activate the SBC-PPI unit. You should hear the solenoid click open and then close. The offset time is a great why to ensure proper shifting especially for applications where the air line from the solenoid to the shifter ram is longer than 6. This allows you to activate the solenoid before the power interrupt begins. NOTE New switch settings will only be recognized when the unit is powered up! Schnitz Motorsports obligation under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of any component found to be defective when returned postpaid to Schnitz Motorsports. The Controller must be returned with evidence of place and date of purchase or warranty will be void. The warranty will not apply if the SCB-PPI has been installed incorrectly, repaired, damaged, or tampered with by misuse, negligence or accident.
