To change the mast position, loosen the position-adjusting knob, move the arm to the desired position, and tighten the knob. Implemen t warning lamp The implement warning lamp is plugged into the electrical outlet socket at the rear of tne tractor and installed on the implement. The lamp will be turned on as long as it I s plugged into the socket. C AUT ION: Use warning lamps when driving at night. Tractor warning lamp This lamp (which glows amber to the front and red to the rear) is mounted on a telescoping mast at the rear of the tractor. When desired, the lamp may be equipped with a flasher, available from your John Deere dealer. This lamp (which glows red to the rear and amber to the front) mounts securely on the lefthand side of a drawn implement. Installing Implement Warning Lamp Tractor Warning Lamp In Extended, Left-Hand Position When traveling on the highway at night or during periods oflowvisibility, the telescoping mast may be extended by loosening the length-adjusting knob. When the mast is in the high vertical position, approaching vehicles on hilly roads will have advance warning. When the extended mast is swung to a position at the left-hand side ofthe tractor, Electrical outlet socket This socket, a source of 12-volt, DC electrical power, is used for plugging in the implement. warning lamp, auxiliary lights, or other electrical equipment. It is located conveniently at the center rear of the tractor. Highway driving When transporting (or driving) the tractoron a road or highway at night or during the day, use accessory lights and devices for adequate warning to the operators of other vehicles. In this regard, check local governmental regulations. Various safety lights and devices such as those illustrated on this page are available at your John Deere dealer's.

6 lubrication and periodic service-200 hour Install a new oil filter element and, if necessary, replace the filter cover gasket. Install the filter cover. Change the filter element each time the oil is changed. Install the crankcase drain plug and add new oil of the proper viscosity and quality (page 40). After adding oil, run the engine for a few minutes to fill the oil filter. The oil level on the dipstick should be at the "FULL" mark. Total capacity is U.S. quarts. 13. Lubricating transmission clutch throwout bearing Keep a record of all oil and filter changes on page 1 of the service cards on your tractor. 10. Draining carburetor sump (LP-Gas) See page Checking generator belt tension See page Lubricating distributor (gasoline or LP-Gas) Clutch Throw.Out Bearing Grease Fitting (As View 'rom Beneath Tractor) With the tractor engine stopped, remove the clutch inspection cover on the underside of the ffactor. Apply five shots of SAE multipurposetype grease at the grease fitting Lubricating PTO clutch bearing Distributor Lubrication Points Lubricating distributor cam Remove, clean, and inspect the distributor cap, rotor, and housing cover. Replace all defective parts. Apply a trace of distributor cam lubricant or high-temperature grease on the cam. Too much lubricant will ruin the distributor points. Filling reservoir* Remove the reservoir filler plug and fill the reservoir with SAE 20W oil. Replace the plug. Oiling distributor wick* Place 2 or 3 drops of SAE 20Woil on the wick. *Per!orm this service only when distributor has spring clips to retain the distributor cap. PTO Clutch Bearing Grease Fitting (As Viewed 'rom Beneath Tractor) With the tractor engine stopped and the clutch inspection cover removed, move the PTO clutch lever all the way forward to engage the clutch. Then apply five shots of SAE multipurpose-type grease at the grease fitting. Replace the cover. 15. Checking belt pulley oil level After every 200 hours of belt pulley operation, remove the belt pulley filler plug (see page 50) and check the oil level. If the oil is not up to the level of the filler hole, add John Deere Type 303 Special-Purpose Oil or its equivalent.
