2 Stock Selector Counterbalanced Combines order picking and overhead maintenance capabilities The Big Joe stock selector series is designed and engineered for efficient order picking. It functions as a multi-use Stock Selector and a portable, self-propelled ladder. It is versatile and can increase productivity. The operator can perform all functions...lift, lower, forward and reverse from the stock picking level since all controls are located on the elevating operator compartment and platform. The operator can pick orders at various levels and move to other locations without having to lower the platform. Capacities range from 2000 to 3000 pounds with pick heights up to 23 feet. The Big Joe stock selectors are very maneuverable which allows them to operate efficiently in tight narrow areas. This series also allows you to increase productivity by eliminating the use of ordinary ladders, and decreasing labor needs. They are also excellent for a variety of overhead maintenance applications...changing lights, repairing overhead heaters and sprinklers...anywhere you would use a ladder.

3 STANDARD EQUIPMENT Channel and I-Beam Mast. High grade steel mast construction features interlocked channel and I-beam design with roller bearing surfaces. Mast and carriage is of fully-rollered construction for smooth, long-wearing performance. This type of construction accommodates high lifting stresses and maintains load stability. Fully Protected Electrical System. 24V SSC and SSCM models have a transistor drive control system for infinitely variable forward and reverse speed control. 12V models have resistor drive control system with 3-speed forward and reverse featuring premium, industrial grade contactors with silver-alloy replaceable tips. Both power and control circuits are fused for maximum protection. Wiring to the operator s compartment is a multi-conductor, flexible cable, coded and routed within the mast for maximum protection. Steering System. Mechanical steering (standard on the 12V and 24V SSC 20/30 and SSCM Models) is via a large diameter automotive type steering wheel coupled directly to the drive wheel via steel cables affording maximum mechanical advantage for minimum steering effort. Power steering (standard on the 24V SSC 30 TRI Model; optional on the 24V SSC 20/30 Models) is an in-line hydraulic torque generator coupled directly to the steering wheel providing finger-tip steering ease. Easy-to-read directional indicator on the operator s console gives the angular position of the drive wheel to assist the operator in steering and maneuvering. Brake System. A large diameter, automotive-type disc brake coupled directly to the drive motor armature shaft, provides high braking force and energy absorption. Industrial Rated Batteries. Precision built, lead-acid industrial battery with SB type quickdisconnect connector. (Dual batteries on SSCM.) High Strength Construction. The power section frame, main upright baselegs, operator s platform, overhead guard and forks are all precision welded integral units for maximum strength and rigidity. Mast and platform rollers are specially constructed and feature sealed-for-life lubrication and premium alloy steel for smooth operation, high load capability and long life. Support and vertical translation of the operator s platform is via dual, heavy duty ANSI BL Series leaf chain. Chrome Plated Lift Cylinder. Provides smooth lift/lower operation and maintenance-free long cylinder life. Pressure-Compensated Flow Control Valve. Automatically regulates maximum lowering speed within safe limits. Emergency Power Disconnect. Pushbutton power disconnect on operator s console interrupts all power to the truck in the event of an emergency. SSC load wheels are 6 x 4, SSCM load wheels are 4 x 2 1 /2 cured-on polyurethane with sealed ball bearings and large diameter axles. Forks are reinforced structural steel channels with tapered ends for load support and easy pallet entry.

6 DRIVE SYSTEM 12V or 24V, series wound, class H traction motors coupled directly to the transmission provide high torque at modest current levels for operational efficiency and long service life. A combination spur and bevel gear, double-reduction transmission with tapered roller bearings on SSC models. A double-reduction spur gear transmission with ball and tapered roller bearings on SSCM. Oil-filled, cast ductile iron housing and integral drive wheel axle efficiently transmits the motor's horsepower to the drive wheel. The drive wheel is a 10-1/2 x 5 pressed-on, polyurethane tire offering high load capability, excellent traction characteristics and long service life. The traction motor, transmission, brake and drive wheel are an integral unit designed to eliminate flexing electrical cables and maximize power transmission efficiency. HYDRAULIC SYSTEM Large, in-line removable hydraulic reservoir with a filtered/calibrated bayonet level gauge and integral suction filter provides maximum system cleanliness and oil viscosity/temperature stability. High efficiency gear pump, with built-in check and relief valves, delivers maximum flow at minimum power consumption for long service free cycles. 12V or 24V, heavy-duty pump motor delivers high torque at minimum power consumption for long life. A hydraulic accumulator (standard on 24V SSC 20/30, 30 TRI Models; optional on 12V SSC 20) cushions pressure surges to allow for smooth positioning of fork height. Lowering valve provides the operator infinitely variable lowering speed for precise fork and/or load positioning (optional on SSCM). Large diameter lift cylinder provides structural integrity while keeping system pressures to minimum levels for efficient power utilization. A pressure compensated flow regulator automatically regulates maximum lowering speed within safe limits. Premium hydraulic hose and couplings, sized for pressure and flow requirements, are used to assure maximum safety, efficiency and service lift. Premium hydraulic oil, with a full complement of additives to resist corrosion and suppress foaming, is used to assure optimum system performance. SAFETY FEATURES Automatic speed reduction when the operator's platform is raised above 24. Pressure relief valve to protect hydraulic system from excessive pressures. A biased, pressure sensitive check valve in the lowering circuit automatically prevents the cylinder from lowering should the operator accidentally hang up the load and/or forks. A pressure compensated flow regulator automatically controls lowering speed should a hydraulic hose fail. Automatically applies brake and cuts out travel when operator s foot is removed from Dead-man brake pedal. Chain/post enclosed operator compartment provided as standard fall restraint.
