2 Typical Applications The LFD s non-aspirating, unidirectional, laminar flow air pattern is ideal for applications where a low velocity and minimal entrainment of room air is required. Applications requiring the use of such diffusers include: hospital operating rooms, cleanrooms, laboratories, and protective isolation rooms. The LFD is classified as an ASHRAE group E non-aspirating diffuser and meets ASHRAE 170 requirements. The laminar flow diffuser utilizes an internal engineered equalization baffle, resulting in a dual chamber design that introduces clean supply air to the space with minimal entrainment of room air because of the low, controlled discharge velocity. The Price LFD is available in multiple sizes (including metric), in aluminum, stainless steel, steel, and hybrid construction. Many standard and optional features make the LFD a the most versatile laminar flow diffuser on the market. Engineered Equalization Baffle The integrated equalization baffle provides uniform, unidirectional airflow across the face of the diffuser, preventing entrainment of potentially contaminated room air in the diffuser s airflow. The equalization baffle is easy to remove from the diffuser face for sterilization. Easily Removable Face Laminar Flow Diffuser Quarter turn fasteners and stainless steel retainer cables make the diffuser face easy to remove for quick access to the plenum for cleaning and inlet damper adjustment. Adjustable Inlet Damper The optional butterfly-style inlet air damper allows for air balancing and fine tuning ensuring delivery of the desired quantity of air. 3 Hybrid Construction Customized hybrid solutions are available, as the plenum and face material can be independently selected. A variety of materials are available, including: stainless steel, aluminum and steel. One-Piece Welded Plenum An optional one-piece welded plenum features fully welded corners to protect against infiltration of air from the ceiling plenum, as well as preventing the loss of conditioned air through seams in the diffuser casing. ½" Foil Backed Insulation Optional ½" insulation prevents the cooled and conditioned air entering the diffuser from exposure to the warm air of an unconditioned plenum space.
