3 FOREWORD Paper Folder Model PF-P310 This manual is designed to help you to keep the machine in a good operating condition. Read, study and keep this manual in a safe and convenient place. Do not perform any maintenance until you read and understand the instructions in this manual. If you have questions regarding maintenance or this publication, please contact our service division. 8 2. Operation Overview 1. Turn on power switch. - When feed tray lever is raised, motor will be started. Feed roller will sometimes make 1 turn. - When feed tray lever is lowered, motor will not be started. - Single fold lamp and B5 size lamp will illuminate. - Display will indicate 0. - Lamp on 1st buckle stopper position will illuminate at (B5, single fold) position. 2. If feed tray lever is raised, lower feed tray lever. - Motor will be stopped. 3. Pile sheets on feed tray, adjust feed guide, and then select sheet fold pattern and sheet size. - When fold pattern select button other than single fold button is pressed, deflector will move and selected sheet size lamp on 2nd buckle will illuminate. 4. Adjust stopper indicator (orange mark) on the position where lamp is illuminating with stopper handle. 5. Press test feed button. - Clutch will be activated and feed roller will make 1 turn and a sheet is fed. Display will indicate 1. - If sheet is not piled on feed tray, feed roller will not turn and display will remain Press start/stop button. - Clutch will be activated and a sheet will be fed and then sheets will be transported continuously with some intervals (only accordion fold and short fold). - Display will show the number of sheets counted. 7. Sheet feeding stops. - Clutch will be off and feed roller stops when start/stop button is pressed. - Clutch will be off and feed roller stops and motor stops when feed tray lever is lowered. - Only feed roller stops when sheets run out on feed tray. 8. Turn off power switch. - When power is turned off and turn on again, the number of display is cleared and lamp on 1st buckle stopper position will illuminate at (B5, single fold) position. (The folding pattern and sheet size input are not memorized.)

9 3. Sheet Flow 1. Feed roller feeds sheet to transport roller. 2. Sheet is nipped between 1st drive roller and fold roller and then transported to 1st buckle. 3. When sheet reaches to stopper in 1st buckle, sheet is buckled and the buckled part of sheet is nipped between 2nd drive roller and fold roller In the case of single fold, deflector moves to the right and sheet is delivered to tray In the case of the other folding patterns, deflector moves to the left and sheet folded between 2nd drive roller and fold roller is transported to 2nd buckle. 5. When sheet reaches to stopper in 2nd buckle, sheet is buckled and the buckled part of sheet is nipped between 3rd drive roller and fold roller. 6. Sheet is folded and delivered to tray. 10 4. How to Remove Cover CAUTION - Turn off main power and remove any covers. Tool : Screwdriver Rear Cover - Bind Screw M4 x 8 (2 pcs) - Tapping Screw M4 x 10 (2 pcs) PEPER FOLDERPF-P310 Side Cover - Bind Screw M4 x 8 (4 pcs) Front Cover - Bind Screw M4 x 8 (2 pcs) Front cover is installed with the top edge fitted with operation panel. Remove front cover by pulling front cover diagonally downward.

11 5. Troubleshooting A. PF-P310 does not work with start button or test feed button. (Cause 1) Feed clutch solenoid is not positioned properly. (Remedy 1) Adjust feed clutch solenoid position so that the clearance between clutch lever and clutch stopper is 0.5 to 1 mm (0.02" to 0.04") while feed clutch solenoid is on. NOTE - Fix feed clutch solenoid so that feed clutch solenoid will not hit clutch lever. (Cause 2) Sheet presence microswitch on the top of feed tray is broken, sheet sensor microswitch is not positioned properly, or connector is not connected properly. (Remedy 2) - Check on microswitch position or replace microswitch after removing feed tray. Remove feed tray by removing two M5 x 10 screws and spring from the both end of spring shaft. - Position microswitch so that actuator ON position where click sound is heard is 2 to 4 mm (0.008" to 0.16") above feed tray. (Cause 3) Start/Stop button is broken. (Remedy 3) Replace switch or whole P.C. Board.

12 5. Troubleshooting B. Sheets is not folded correctly with single fold. (Cause) Deflector is deformed or deflector drive solenoid is not positioned properly. (Remedy) Adjust deflector so that the clearance between 2nd drive roller and deflector is 0.9 to 1.3 mm (0.03" to 0.06") from drive side to operation side while deflector drive solenoid is on. And also install deflector so that tip of deflector at the left side touches frame hole while deflector drive solenoid is off. NOTE - Install both sides of support plates without twist of deflector. And adjust support plate so that deflector drive solenoid will operate without hitting some parts. C. Folded sheets have wrinkles. (Cause) 1. Sheets are too thin. (Out of specification) 2. Sheets are curled. 3. Fold rollers are not positioned properly. (Remedy 1) 4. Fold rollers are smeared with ink. (Remedy 2) 5. Fold rollers are deformed by friction after long time use. (Remedy 3) 6.Bush plates have some problems. (Remedy 4) (Remedy 1) Install fold rollers in proper position. (Remedy 2) Clean fold rollers with alcohol soaked cloth. (Remedy 3) Replace fold rollers. (Remedy 4) Check that bush plates are not deformed and that they operate smoothly. After that lubricate fulcrum of bush plate.

13 5. Troubleshooting D. Misfeed occurs. (Feed roller rotates.) (Cause) 1. Sheet is too thick. (Out of specification) 2. Feed rollers are worn out. (Remedy 1) 3. Feed rollers get worse. (Remedy 1) 4. Feed tray does not operate correctly because spring is loosen. (Remedy 2) 5. Sheet is caught between feed guides too tight. (Remedy 3) 6. Feed tray pressure is weak. (Remedy 2) (Remedy 1) Replace feed rollers. (Remedy 2) Check on feed tray movement or replace spring in feeding section. (Remedy 3) Adjust feed guides. E. Double feed occurs. (Cause) 1. Sheet is too thin. (Out of specification) 2. Feed roller or double feed stope pad is worn out. (Remedy 1) 3. Sheets are curled. 4. Sheets stick each other with ink. (Remedy 2) 5. Sheets have static electricity. (Remedy 3) (Remedy 1) Clean double feed stop pad or replace it with new one. (Remedy 2) Fan sheets well. (Remedy 3) Fan sheets well a few minutes later.

14 5. Troubleshooting F. Folding result is not good. (Cause) 1. Sheet is too thin. (Out of specification) 2. Sheet is not cut square. 3. Sheet is curled. 4. Feed guides are set improperly. (Remedy 1) 5. Fold roller spring is loosen. (Remedy 2) 6. Stopper in buckle is set improperly. (Remedy 3) 7. Fold rollers are dirty with ink. (Remedy 4) 8. Sheets are jammed in buckle. (Remedy 5) 9. Support rollers are set improperly. (Remedy 6) 10. Feed roller or double feed stope pad is worn out. (Remedy 7) 11. Fold roller is worn out. (Remedy 8) (Remedy 1) - Adjust feed guides so that feed guides are right-angled with front guide and feed guides are parallel each other. - Red mark tells the standard position of feed guide adjust lever. 15 5. Troubleshooting (Remedy 3) 1. Turn power off and unplug power cord. 2. Remove all covers (front cover, rear cover and side covers). 3. Remove feed tray (support tray) and move 1st stopper to L direction until it appears under feed tray. Move 2nd stopper to the position where 2nd stopper can be seen from feed guide holes. 4. Feed exactly square A3 size sheet to buckle by turning feed roller by hand. Make sure that sheet is not skewed. 5. Check that the leading edge of sheet is parallel to buckle stopper. 6. If buckle stopper is not parallel with sheet edge, loosen two timing pulley screws and adjust stopper angle so that it will be parallel to sheet. (Remedy 4) Clean fold rollers with alcohol soaked cloth. (Remedy 5) Remove all jammed sheets in buckles. (Remedy 6) Readjust support roller position. (Remedy 7) Replace feed roller or double feed stop pad. (Remedy 8) Replace fold rollers.

16 5. Troubleshooting G. Counter does not count sheets. (Cause) 1. Count sensor is dirty. 2. Sheet size is irregular size or fold pattern is not regular pattern. 3. Sheet is jammed in sensor section or buckle. (Remedy) 1. Clean sensor. (Refer to page 11.) If counter does not works correctly in spite of cleaning, check on wiring, replace sensor or replace control P.C. B.. NOTE - To check count sensor, measure voltage between Pin 3 and Pin 4 in CON 4 on P.C.B.. Sheet Presence : 3 to 5 V No Sheet : 0 to 0.5 V 2. Select short fold or accordion fold with select button to provide interval between each sheet. 3. Remove jammed sheets.

17 6. How to Replace Count Sensor (-S/N ) 1. Remove feed base. (B4-8W screw : 4 pcs) 2. Remove stay. (B4-8W screw : 4 pcs) 3. Remove slide guided. (B3-16W screw : 6 pcs) 4. Remove buckle fix screws. (B4-12W screw : 6 pcs) 5. Remove indication sign panel. (B4-8W screw : 4 pcs) 6. Remove bracket. (B4-8W screw : 6 pcs) 7. Remove buckle stopper shaft. (B4-8W screw : 2 pcs) 8. Pull out buckle.
