3 3SGTE ENGINE EG1511 OIL COOLER REMOVAL (See Components for Removal and Installation) 1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE TERMINAL OF BATTERY CAUTION: Turn the Ignition switch to LOCK. Discon nect the negative terminal from the battery. Wait et least 20 seconds before proceeding with work. 2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT 3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVERS 4. REMOVE RH ENGINE HOOD SIDE PANEL 5. REMOVE NO.1 AND NO.2 INTAKE AIR CONNECTORS 6. (w/ CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM) DISCONNECT CRUISE CONTROL ACCELERATOR LINKAGE 7. REMOVE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ELECTRIC COOLING FAN (a) Disconnect the cooling fan connector. (b) Loosen the three bolts, and remove the cooling fan.
4 EG1512 3SGTE ENGINE 8. DISCONNECT A/C COMPRESSOR FROM ENGINE (a) Remove the three clamp bolts, and disconnect the parking brake cable. (b) Remove the two bolts and lower suspension brace. (c) Remove the clamp nut, and disconnect the two A/C pipes. (d) Loosen the idler pulley nut. (e) Loosen the adjusting bolt, and remove the drive belt. (f) Remove the nut, pulley cover, idler pulley and spacer.
5 3SGTE ENGINE EG1513 (g) Disconnect the A/C compressor connector. (h) Remove the three bolts and idler pulley bracket. (i) Remove the two bolts, and disconnect the A/C com pressor from the engine. HINT: Suspend the A/C compressor to strut rod with a string. 9. REMOVE OIL FILTER Using SST, remove the oil filter. SST DISCONNECT OIL DIPSTICK GUIDE FROM OIL COOLER Remove the bolt, and disconnect the dipstick guide from the water inlet.
6 EG1514 3SGTE ENGINE 11. REMOVE OIL COOLER (a) Disconnect the water bypass hose from oil cooler. (b) Remove the relief valve and plate washer. (c) Remove the two nuts and oil cooler. (d) Remove the Oring and gasket from the oil cooler. (e) Remove the bolt, and disconnect the water bypass pipe from the oil cooler bracket. 12. REMOVE OIL COOLER BRACKET (a) Remove the relief valve and plate washer. (b) Remove the four bolts and oil cooler bracket. (c) Remove the two 0 rings from the oil cooler bracket.
7 3SGTE ENGINE EG1515 OIL COOLER INSPECTION 1. INSPECT RELIEF VALVE Push the valve with a wooden stick to check if it is stuck. If stuck, replace the relief valve. 2. INSPECT OIL COOLER Check the oil cooler for damage or clogging. If necessary, replace the oil cooler. OIL COOLER INSTALLATION (See Components for Removal and Installation) 1: INSTALL OIL COOLER BRACKET (a) Install two new 0rings to the oil cooler bracket. (b) Apply a light coat of engine oil on the small 0 ring. (c) Install the oil cooler bracket with the four bolts. Torque: 78 Nm (800 kgfcm, 58 ftlbf)
8 EG1516 3SGTE ENGINE 2. INSTALL OIL COOLER (a) Install new 0ring and gasket to the oil cooler. (b) Temporarily install the water bypass pipe with the bolt. (c) Place a new gasket on the water bypass pipe. (d) Temporarily install the oil cooler with the two nuts. (e) Apply a light coat of engine oil on the threads and under the head of the relief valve. (f) Install the plate washer and relief valve. Torque: 78 Nm (800 kgfcm, 58 ftlbf) (g) Tighten the two nuts. Torque: 7.8 Nm (80 kgfcm, 69 in.lbf) (h) Connect the water bypass hose to the oil cooler. 3. INSTALL OIL DIPSTICK GUIDE TO WATER INLET Install the dipstick guide with the bolt.
9 3SGTE ENGINE EG INSTALL OIL FILTER (See Replacement of Oil and Oil Filter) 5. INSTALL A/C COMPRESSOR (a) Temporarily install the A/C compressor with the two bolts. (b) Install the idler pulley bracket with the three bolts. Torque: 25 Nm (250 kgfcm, 18 ftlbf) for A 27 Nm (275 kgfcm, 20 ftlbf) for B 37 Nm (375 kgfcm. 27 ftlbf) for C (c) Connect the A/C compressor connector. (d) Tighten the two bolts of the lower side of the A/C compressor. Torque: 25 Nm (250 kgfcm. 18 ftlbf) (e) Temporarily install the spacer, pulley and pulley cover with the nut.
10 EG1518 3SGTE ENGINE (f) Install the drive belt with the adjusting bolt. (g) Tighten the idler pulley nut. (h) Install the two A/C pipes with the two clamps and nut. (i) Install the lower suspension brace with the two bolts. Torque: 73 Nm (740 kgfcm, 54 ftlbf) (j) Install the parking brake cable with the two clamp and three bolts. 6. INSTALL ENGINE COMPARTMENT ELECTRIC COOLING FAN (a) Install the cooling fan with the three bolts. (b) Connect the cooling fan connector.
