24 Divided Lite Options Nothing magnifies the architectural style of a building as dramatically as divided lite windows. Divided lites allow you to mimic traditional architecture or create patterns that are uniquely your own. Whether your design is traditional or contemporary, Sierra Pacific divided lites provide the perfect element to establish the visual identity of your building. Simulated Divided Lites (Simulite) Simulated Divided Lites (Simulite) are an energy-efficient alternative to true divided lites. Featuring historically-accurate profiles, the simulite bars are permanently adhered to the glass with Very High Bond (VHB) adhesive tape. Our interior simulite bars are made from clear Ponderosa Pine, Douglas Fir or alternate species and are available in either Colonial or Contemporary profiles in three widths: 7/8, 1 5/16 or 2. Insulated units with simulite are standard with an internal shadow bar to give the appearance of authentic divided lites. Our wood exterior products feature simulite made from either factoryprimed Ponderosa Pine, clear Douglas Fir or alternate species available in either Colonial or Contemporary profiles to match the interior simulite. Our aluminum clad products have exterior simulite made from extruded aluminum available in either Colonial or Contemporary profiles to match the interior simulite. Different simulite bar widths can be combined in single units to satisfy the most demanding design criteria and lite patterns are limited only by your imagination. The Atherton profile is the newest addition to our family of simulite products. Available in wood exterior, the Atherton features historically accurate deep reveals to mimic traditional true divided lite profiles. 26 Glazing Options Choosing the Correct Glazing System Today s architecture features ever increasing expanses of glass to capture views and allow natural light to illuminate interiors. Choosing the correct glazing system (the glass and the spacer between the panes of glass) for your climate, exposure and architectural design is one of the most important decisions you will make during the construction process. Sierra Pacific s advanced glazing system features Super Spacer by EdgeTech, the world s only NO-Metal TrueWARM Edge insulating glass spacer paired with high-performance, spectrally-selective LoE glass from Cardinal. Sierra Pacific offers many glass options, including energy-efficient, spectrally-selective Cardinal LoE glass, tinted, obscure and specialty glazings. Spectrally-selective LoE coatings have the ability to handle each portion of the solar spectrum (visible light, ultraviolet and near infrared) differently. These coatings act as invisible insulation on your glass. They allow daylight to pass through the glass as they filter out solar heat for energy-savings during the air-conditioning season. Conversely, spectrally-selective LoE coatings significantly improve winter nighttime insulation, keeping the interior of your building warmer during the heating-controlled months of the year. Warm Edge In order to overcome the thermal inefficiency of conventional aluminum window spacers, a new type of spacer product called warm edge technology has evolved in the window industry. Warm Edge refers to the type of spacer material used to separate the panes of glass in an insulated window unit. If the material conducts less heat or cold at the edge of the glass than a conventional aluminum spacer, it is said to be warmedge. Most of these newer window spacers are less conductive and outperform pure aluminum. But there s still one small problem -- they all contain some kind of metal. And metal is highly conductive. Unlike other so-called warm edge spacers that contain steel or aluminum wrapped in butyl rubber, Super Spacer is made of 100% polymer structural foam. The NO-Metal formula conducts less heat and cold than conventional metal spacers and provides the warmest possible edge. Ideal Glass Performance The insulating effect of your windows has a direct impact on the comfort factor inside your home or commercial building. Typically 75% of the exposed surface of a window is glass, and the temperature of the interior surface of the glass directly affects the air temperature in the room. The better insulated the glass, the more comfortable the room. Cardinal LoE-180 Glass The Ideal Choice for Passive Solar Designs When the weather turns frigid, Cardinal LoE-180 glass is the perfect cold remedy. It provides excellent insulating capability, even better than our previous high solar gain glass, blocking heat loss to the outside and reflecting heat back into the room. What s more, it s the ideal glass for passive solar applications because it allows the winter sun s heat to pass into the home. Regardless of where your home is located, choosing windows that provide you with the highest level of comfort and energy savings year-round is extremely important. And choosing the right glass for your windows is the most important factor in the decision. Go beyond ordinary low-e glass - choose Cardinal LoE-180, the ideal choice for passive solar designs. Cardinal LoE Glass Reduce the Glare with Aesthetically-Consistent Color LoE 2-240, Cardinal s solution to solar glare and thermal discomfort, provides a great combination of aesthetic appeal with energy savings and indoor comfort. The glare-reducing tint in LoE is part of the spectrally-selective coating. Therefore, unlike regular gray and bronze tinted glass, the aesthetically-consistent, bluish-grey color and performance of LoE are the same regardless of changes in glass thickness from smaller to larger windows. Energy-efficient windows can help cut these costs. In fact, you can LoE blocks enough solar heat that cooling loads can be reduce your energy bills by up to one-third by simply using lowemissivity (LoE) glass. In fact, it blocks 84% of the sun s harmful ultraviolet rays and delivers a remarkable 96% performance improvement in winter nighttime insulation (R-value) compared to non-coated air-filled insulating glass. The nationwide focus on tree planting has never been greater, as awareness has grown that healthy trees and forests can help remove greenhouse gases like carbon from our atmosphere. Commitment to Environmental Stewardship At Sierra Pacific, we manage our nearly two million acres of forestland for sustainable growth. We have developed a one hundred year plan in California for managing our forests to provide the wood products consumers rely on while maintaining fish and wildlife habitat, soil stability and water quality. 29 100% Utilization of Wood Fiber The sustainably-grown wood from our forests moves through our SFI certified sawmills and millwork plants and is processed into lumber, millwork or window components or into products such as bark, chips or landscaping materials. The excess is then converted to electricity in our cogeneration facilities to run our mills and to power local energy grids. We effectively utilize 100% of the fiber we harvest. Products Manufactured from Sustainably Grown, Certified Wood Sierra Pacific Window products are environmentally friendly. Our products are manufactured from sustainably grown wood certified under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Program and carry the SFI on-product label. We also offer FSC certified products upon request. Our compliance with these programs demonstrates Sierra Pacific s commitment to the environment and the Green Building effort. Our Coatings Contain No VOCs Our extruded aluminum exteriors are coated with eco-friendly, no-voc (Volatile Organic Compound) powder coatings. Powder coatings generate zero hazardous waste during the application process and eliminate the additional energy required to operate thermal oxidizers and scrubbers used to lower VOC emissions common to the wet paint process. Powder coating is an EPA recommended finishing system, contributing to the Green Building Initiative of the US government, as well as to Leadership for Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) point credits. Energy Star Products Sierra Pacific Windows is an Energy Star Partner and applies the Energy Star label on all qualified products. Energy Star is a voluntary partnership program between the US Department of Energy and retailers, utilities and manufacturers aimed at promoting products that are more energy efficient.
