2 Valve Monitors The valve monitors were developed to automatize several types of rotative valves. They can be assembled over any rotative valve or pneumatic actuator, allowing a local visual indication and remote electrical signalling for valve positioning (open or closed). Local Visual Indication Through mobile blades automatically activated by a main axis which is connected to a valve or to a pneumatic actuator allow the open or closed state indication of the monitored valve. Flow Local Visual Indication The local indication shows the open or closed state of the valve with yellow blades and black letters, but as an option can be provided either with different letter colors or with drawings indicating the flow direction. No Local Visual Indication Optionally, the monitors can be provided with a cover without the local visual indication, only with the remote electrical signalling, for those applications where no operator is required or in hard access sites. Remote Electrical Signaling Can be effected by mechanical contacts, reed switch sensors, inductive sensors or network modules with internal sensors activated by a rotative cam axis. Electrical Connection Uses screw terminal block (, mm ) that allows the installation of wires with or without terminals previously isolated. Cable Input All monitors have thread inputs of ½ NPT (Sentinel ¾ NPT) and are also available with a third input of ½ NPT if required. Solenoid Valve Completing the valve automation, the monitors can be provided with Parker's solenoid valve, available in several models for many different applications. Installation kit for manual valve or pneumatic actuator When ordering we will be able to supply a complete kit as especified, including all fixation screws for actuator / monitor, besides the fixation plate developed in painted steel or stainless steel.

3 Housing Metallic Box In aluminum with black epoxy painting, very robust for aggressive environments and fully equipped with stainless steel axis and screws. It is available in three versions: alumínum for general purpose, increased safety and explosion proof. Plastic Box In Zytel, a new plastic material, very resistant to the bad weather, chemical agents, salinity and higher temperature. Also available for general purpose and increased safety. 4 Local Visual Indication Indicates the valve position through mobile blades automatically activated by a main axis which is mechanically connected to the valve or actuator axis. Utilizes a robust and highly transparent plastic display being able to support applications on aggressive environment and the action of several chemical agents. The display sealing, water jet, freezing and dust resistant, uses a rubber ring (Buna N) compressed by the display insertion. Flow Local Visual Indication Color options on Local Visual Indication It is possible to indicate the flow direction of the controlled fluid by the valve through the following options: O T F S 10º 10º The visual indication blades are regularly provided in yellow with black letters, but optionally (under order) can be provided in the following standards: L G R B Y O P E N O P E N Remote Electrical Signaling The monitors have an internal switch set that makes possible to indicate valve opening and closing and that through an exclusive rotative cam axis allows the adjustment of the commutation point without any tool. The axis is coupled to the pneumatic actuator or directly in the valve and has as a function to activate the blades and the cams of the remote sensors. The cams adjustment is made by pressing them down (top cam) or up (bottom cam), releasing them of the spring that keep them pressed against the wheel carved in the axis. Once released, they can be rotated in any angle, allowing a precise positioning of the commutation point. Mechanical Signalling Utilizes a cam that when rotating, activates a limit switch actuator. Reed Switch Signalling To activate the reed switch a magnetic cam is used. The cam has a small magnet that when passing in front of the reed switch can get it activated. Proximity Sensor Signalling The cam has a metallic pin that when passing in front of the inductive sensor will get it activated. PCB Module Signalling The analog transmission monitors with network signalling, use an electronic PCB with sensors detecting the magnetic cam. The PCB is assembled inside a plastic box which is filled with a resin and has screw terminals for electrical connection.

6 Solenoid Valves Low Power Aiming to complete the valve automation, the monitors can be provided with Parker's Solenoid Valves. The set will be delivered completely assembled, where the valve is fixed mechanically to the monitor, that also integrate its electrical connection. Available in several versions including the one for potentially explosive areas, making the system versatile and practical. General Purpose Low Power The PVL serie are valves of plastic body and ways brass connection (to use 3 ways we provide covers) with high flow and low consumption (Low Power < 1,W) available in versions: Double Solenoid For double action actuators, the PVL solenoids can be also provided with double solenoid, both Low Power. General Purpose Namur coupling The Namur coupling dismisses pneumatic connections (tubes and plastics hooks) between the valve and the actuator, because has holes the perfectly hook in the actuator, reducing the installation cost. Available in two versions: Internal Coil Explosion proof valve Low Power The valve monitor Exd can be provided with Parker valve serie 1 certified by Inmetro/Cepel to be used in classified areas as explosion proof housing. The supply includes accessories (reducer sleeve ¾ ½ NPT and nipple ½ NPT) also certified for a perfect coupling with Monitor cables ¾ input. 8 Electrical Connection The monitors screw terminal bar (for cables up to, mm ) installed inside the housing and protected against liquid penetration, allowing the connection of the sensors, solenóide and control system cable. When the monitor is working with PCB network module there is no need of screw terminal bar, since the wires are directly connected in the PCB. Electrical Connection Cables Input The monitors were designed to receive directly rigid conduit, flexíble conduit or cable gland through their threaded inputs. The are equipped with two threaded female inputs of ½ NPT (except on explosion proof version which has threaded inputs of ¾ NPT) and a third optional input with ½ NPT thread. Network PCB Function Through the network it is possible to send the valve signaling state and receive the command to activate its outputs that can utilize the own network supply line to energize the solenoid valve that moves the actuator. The network PCBs replace the remote signalling sensors. Hall Effect transistors are installed on PCB module protected by the resin that fills all the housing. The PCB module, that is available for ASInterface, Devicenet and Profibus DP protocols, allow besides the remote signalling, the valve activation, offering screw terminals for wire connection and leds of signalliing of the output sensors e of the network status. Network Topology The industrial network topology differs in accordance with protocol used, but the valve monitors can be used in all types of network if our internal or external network distributors are applied. Line Topology The LINE topology can be used on ASI, DeviceNet e Profibus DP network. The main cable comes from the controller and pass through all valve monitors. The cable network can utilize flexíble conduits, rigid conduits or explosion proof cable gland, simplifying the installation in the plant. Increased Safety In the increased safety housing the network PCBs are special, utilize Exem tecnology and can be assembled in the plastic or metallic housing of the monitors that use this protection. The internal set has an acrylic cover that allows the network PCB's leds visualization and if removed, will give access to the electronic PCB replacement and the solenoid valve, because are disabled without interrupting the rest of the network operation. This exclusive system was certified in accordance with the rules for increased safety allowing its usage in the zones 1 and. Comprises a distributor detects the presence of the acrylic cover, that if removed will disable the supply on PCB, independently of the input and output of themain cable of the network. The cable installation does not require metallic conduits and the cable goes inside the housing through an increased safety cable gland.

11 Internal Distributor This exclusive system of the Network cable distribution totally integrated to the valve monitor, allows its usage on the LINE topologye sua utilização através da topologia LINE. Just in case the PCB or solenoid valve needs to be replaced, the system will allow this intervention without interrupting the network operation. 14 Monitor for Rotative Valves with 4 to 0 ma Analog Position transmitter Angle Indication For valve automation where the local indication of the valve openning angle is required. Positioning transmitter and Remote Electrical Signalling The monitor axis is mechanically connected to the valve, it has a gear system that amplifies its movement and activates a potentionmeter of 1k (other values under order), that can be used to transmit the valve positioning. The monitor can be provided with a current transmitter PCB (similar to the network PCB) that converts the signal of the potentionmeter, allowing the adjustment of the beginning and the end of the scale, converting angle in 4 to 0 ma, besides the positioning sensors, that allow to signalize the open and closed valve, adjusted also by their cams. Analog DeviceNet PCB For application in DeviceNet Network Sense offers an exclusive PCB that has one analog input to receive the signal of the potentionmeter and send to the network the percentage of the valve opening.
