1 Parts and Accessories Installation Instructions Active cruise control retrofit (ACC) BMW 7 Series (E 65, E 66) LHD Important information The retrofit kit is for use within the BMW dealership organisation only. Subject to technical modifications. Before installing the retrofit kit, use the latest CIP application to ascertain the car's status and if necessary update the software in accordance with the action plan. The actual duration of the software update can vary for technical reasons. Target group The target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars with the appropriate specialist knowledge. All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and work instructions in a rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and safety regulations. Installation information Ensure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car. The installed cables are to be secured with cable ties. If the specified PIN chambers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals must be used. The ACC sensor must be set using a special setting station and may only be set using the special tools and test equipment approved by BMW. After the installation work the active cruise control retrofit must be coded using DISPlus, MoDiC III or GT- via the Retrofit path. Installation time Approx. 5 hours, but this may vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it. An additional two hours approximately will be required for setting the ACC sensor. 4 . Preparations! In versions with xenon headlights: Danger of death from high voltage! You must isolate all the components from the voltage supply before you remove them. Work on the entire xenon light system (ignition, control module and lamp) may only be completed by trained personnel. TIS instruction No. --- Refer to the airbag safety regulations. 9 6. To install the ACC sensor Remove the wiring harness () (no longer required). TIS Remove the holder (2) for the bumper trim.! Z A B Check the following dimensions on the ACC sensor D and adjust them if necessary: Dimension A = /-.2 mm Dimension B = /-.2 mm D Do not remove the backing foil () until after completing the installation.! Z I Secure the ACC sensor D to the holder E using selftapping screws. E Ensure that the two guide pines are positioned correctly (arrows).! 11 7. To install the front-end wiring harness Secure the holder () for the bumper trim. Install the wiring harness B, using the existing holes to secure it. Connect branch B (not shown) to the ACC sensor D. B X Z Connect branch B9 to plug X647. B Z Connect branch B to plug X35. Connect branch B2 to plug X3695. 12 8. To install the active cruise control wiring harness Connect branches A2 and B7. A2 B Z Disconnect bridge U5 X73. 13 8. To install the active cruise control wiring harness Connect branch A to the earth post X6. A X Z Thread branch A6 through the rubber grommet () into the electrics box. A Z 2 Drill a mm hole (2) into the ventilation grille () in the electrics box Z A5 Thread branches A5 and A6 through the hole () into the interior of the car. 14 8. To install the active cruise control wiring harness A6 Connect branch A6 to PIN 2 of the blue 8-pin plug X454. Insert the 7.5 A fusible insert K into fuse slot F7. 15 9. To install the active cruise control switch The plug casing for the active cruise control switch E must be inserted precisely into the steering column switch.! OFF Secure the active cruise control switch E using the Torx bolts (). E Z Retrofit kit No Installation Instructions No Issue date:.22 EN/5

Concluding work and coding The ACC sensor must be adjusted before the bumper trim is installed.! - Connect the battery - Code the ACC retrofit - Initialise the ACC sensor using the service function and adjust the ACC sensor - Conduct a brief test - Re-assemble the car - Adjust the headlights H F Fit the ornamental grilles F and H into the bumper trim ().
