2 This manual ensures safe and efficient use of the 3PV2 or 3PV8 force-actuated three-way valve with spring-loaded return to the middle position and actuator (referred to as valve in the following). This manual is a component of the valve and must remain accessible at all times for everyone who uses the valve. Everyone who uses the valve must have read and understood this manual before commencing any work. The basic prerequisite for working safely is compliance with all safety instructions and usage instructions specified in this manual. Furthermore, the local accident prevention regulations and the general safety regulations in the area in which the valve is operated apply. 6 1 Wire 2 Actuator 3 Adjusting lever 4 Outlet side B (water heating) 5 Clamping button to release the actuator 6 Direction of flow indicator 7 Inlet side 8 Outlet side A (central heating) 9 Locked position (open) Description of function The 3PV2 or 3PV8 three-way valves with spring-loaded return to the middle position and actuator are used exclusively to control the flow of fresh water in a heating pipeline system for central heating or water heating. The valve is attached via the inlet side (Fig. 1/7) and the two outlets (Fig. 1/4, 8), according to the direction of flow indicator(fig. 1/6). The inlet side provides the supply of fresh water and the two outlets provide the inflows A for the central heating and B for the water heating. The 22 mm or 28 mm valves can be set to manual or automatic mode using the adjusting lever (Fig. 1/3). Manual: To fill, drain or bleed the heating pipeline system, the adjusting lever (Fig. 1/3) is pushed down slightly to lock the actuator (Fig. 1/2) into the locked position (Fig. 1/8). 6
7 Automatic: Once the heating pipeline system has been filled and bled, the adjusting lever (Fig. 1/3) is released from the actuator locked position (Fig. 1/2). Automatic adjustment is enabled by a control signal sent along the wire (Fig. 1/1). When the valve is in one of the end positions, either the central heating or the water heating can be operated, and if it is in the middle position, both heating pipeline systems can be operated. EN Tips and recommendations This symbol highlights useful tips and recommendations, as well as information for efficient and fault-free operation. Intended use The 3PV2 or 3PV8 force-actuated three-way valves with spring-loaded return to the middle position and actuator are used exclusively to control the flow of fresh water in a heating pipeline system for central heating or water heating, within the limits listed in the technical data. The intended use also includes compliance with all information specified in this manual. Any use other than the intended use is considered incorrect use. The guarantee is voided by any interference with, or modifications to, the valve. 9
10 WARNING! Improper connection can lead to fatal injuries! Only allow qualified professionals to install and connect the valve. For the flexible wires, only use terminals with a cross-section of at least 1 mm². Only use a 230 V power supply. Earth the valve properly. WARNING! Improper installation can lead to fatal injuries! Only allow qualified professionals to install the valve. Do not connect the fresh water lines directly to other water systems as there is a risk of biological contamination. Residual risks The valve is state-of-the art and constructed in accordance with current safety requirements. However, residual risks remain that require caution when using the device. The residual risks, and the conduct and measures they require, are listed in the following. 10
11 WARNING! Danger to life due to electric shock! Improper assembly and installation of the device can lead to life-threatening electrical voltages. Have assembly and connection performed by a qualified electrician only. EN WARNING! Risk of fatal injury from contaminated drinking water! Improper installation of pipelines and mixing different water systems can cause life-threatening infections. Only allow qualified heating experts to install the valve. 11
12 Personnel requirements Heating expert Professional training, knowledge and experience, and knowledge of the relevant standards and regulations enable the heating expert to perform mechanical work on heating systems and to identify, and avoid, potential dangers of the heating expert s own accord. Heating experts are specifically trained for the work environment in which they work, and are familiar with the relevant standards and regulations. Qualified electrician Professional training, knowledge and experience, and knowledge of the relevant standards and regulations allows the qualified electrician to perform work on electrical systems and to identify, and avoid, potential dangers of their own accord. A qualified electrician is specifically trained for the work environment in which they work, and are familiar with the relevant standards and regulations. 12
13 Installation and connection Installation in the heating pipeline system Personnel: Heating expert Special tool: Set of open-ended spanners Prerequisite: The connections to the heating pipeline system are prepared with the accurate dimensions, flush and clean. When replacing or installing the valve, the connections to the heating pipeline system must be depressurised and empty, and the electrical connections must be dead and secured against being switched on again. 14 Only fill, drain and bleed the heating system in the open locked position. Fig. 2: Fitting the pressure ring, example 1 Union nut 2 Pressure ring 1. Screw the union nuts (Fig. 2/1) off the valve and place them to one side together with the pressure rings (Fig. 2/2). 14

Slide the union nuts (Fig. 2/1) onto the heating pipeline system connections with the open thread side facing the mounting location. 15

17 5. The actuator must not face downwards as it could come into contact with escaping liquids in the event of a leak, which could cause a short circuit. EN Place the valve between the connections, taking note of the direction of flow indicator and the code letters. 6. Slide the pressure rings (Fig. 2/2) up to the start of the thread on the valve and screw on the union nuts (Fig. 2/1). 7. Overtightening the union nuts can cause material damage! NOTICE! Use an open-ended spanner on the valve body to keep the valve in the installation position and tighten the union nuts with a second spanner, without applying excessive force. ð Installation is complete. 8. After filling the heating pipeline system, check the threaded connections on the valve for leaks. 17
18 Replacing the actuator Personnel: Qualified electrician Special tool: Phillips screwdriver Prerequisites: The valve is installed properly. The heating is switched off and secured against being switched back on. The adjusting lever is in the locked position (Fig. 3/2). 1. Disconnect the actuator on the electrical connection side. 2. Disconnect the wire laid to the actuator. 18

21 4. Move the adjusting lever (Fig. 6/2) of the new actuator (Fig. 6/1) to the locked position. 5. Place the new actuator (Fig. 6/1), with the clamping button pressed in (Fig. 6/6), in the correct position on the adjusting spindle (Fig. 6/4) of the valve, let it slide onto the anti-twist protection (Fig. 6/3, 5) and release the clamping button. 6. Lay the electrical connection wire properly, fasten it and then connect it (Ä Chapter "Connecting the electricity" on page 22). EN 21
22 Connecting the electricity Risk of fatal electric shock! Personnel: DANGER! Qualified electrician Special tool: Phillips screwdriver Prerequisites: The valve is installed properly. The terminals for the flexible wires must have a cross-section of at least 1 mm². Connecting 22
23 1. If the 1.2 m connection wire is not long enough, it may be extended professionally. EN Strip the insulation from the connection wires. Stripping length: 8 mm 2. Lay the connection wire properly and fasten it. 3. 25 4. Insert the connection wires into the corresponding terminals in accordance with the circuit diagram. NOTICE! Tightening torques Tighten all terminals with a Phillips screwdriver. ð To avoid damage and faulty contacts, tighten the terminals using a tightening torque of 0.6 Nm. The valve now is now connected electrically. EN 25

28 1. Carefully slide the adjusting lever (Fig. 7/1) to the left against the variable resistor and push down slightly on it to lock it into the locked position Fig. 7/2). Setting automatic mode 1. Push the adjusting lever (Fig. 7/1) up and out of the locked position (Fig. 7/2). ð The spring force moves the adjusting lever to the middle position. Automatic mode now performs the actuator functions. You can see that the automatic actuator function is active when the adjusting lever moves without any manual intervention. 28
29 Disposal Improper disposal EN ENVIRONMENT! Incorrect disposal presents an environmental danger. Incorrect disposal could result in environmental dangers. Electric scrap and electronic components must be disposed of correctly, i.e. the parts for disposal must be sorted into material groups. Disposal must be environmentally responsible and must comply with the current status of environmental protection, recycling and disposal technology. 29
30 Recycling If no agreement has been made covering return or disposal, ensure that the dismantled components are recycled: Scrap metals. Ensure plastic elements are recycled. Dispose of other components after sorting them according to material properties. 30
