2 Start by removing the standard air box and airflow meter assembly. Remove the 5-position connector to the airflow meter. Undo the hose clip that attaches airflow meter to throttle body. Undo the three bolts that hold the air box to the engine castings. One bolt (circled) is hidden inside the box itself. You are left with a bare intake pipe to the throttle body housing. It s also much easier to access the throttle switches now. On certain models, a breather pipe (circled) attaches to the standard air box. This does not need to be connected with our conversion kit.

Disconnect the 3-pin connector from the open throttle switch.

Align the throttle potentiometer so that the screws are in the centre of their mounting

3 Disconnect the 3-pin connector from the open throttle switch. Undo the two crosshead mounting screws (circled) and remove the switch. In this picture, the 2-pin connector for the closed throttle switch is also disconnected this is not essential, but can improve access. Slide the new throttle potentiometer onto the throttle spindle. This has a D section, so ensure correct alignment first. In this picture, the potentiometer has not been pressed onto the throttle spindle correctly there is still a gap between potentiometer and throttle body casting. There is no gap between potentiometer and throttle body casting here. The two mounting screws can now be replaced. Align the throttle potentiometer so that the screws are in the centre of their mounting holes (illustrated above). The new air filter and link pipe can now be attached. The link pipe should be positioned such that the air temperature sensor is horizontal, facing the rear of the vehicle. The MAP sensor bracket attaches to these two bolts, in the front-left of the engine bay. Access can be improved by removal of the heater blower motor.

Install the MAP sensor bracket and tighten the two mounting bolts. Install the MAP sensor itself, using the nylon thumbscrews to attach it to the bracket. Do not over tighten. The MAP sensor takes a vacuum reference from the same place as the fuel pressure regulator (in the front-left of the engine bay). Use the T-piece and vacuum piping to extend the vacuum lines from the fuel pressure regulator....to the MAP sensor itself. Ensure that all vacuum pipes are securely connected.

5 Connect the conversion wiring loom as follows: A) 2-pin female connector to air temperature sensor. B) Green 3-pin connector to MAP sensor. C) 3-pin male connector to original open throttle switch connector on Porsche harness. D) 5-pin male connector to original air flow meter connector on Porsche harness. E) 6-pin female connector to throttle potentiometer. Use cable ties to secure the new wiring loom and be sure to route the wiring securely to prevent chafing. Software Upgrades If you purchased your MAP sensor conversion kit at the same time as your DRH Performance ECU, all necessary software is already preloaded into the ECU. If you purchased the MAP sensor conversion kit separately, you MUST upgrade the software in your ECU before attempting to start the engine. There are two alternative methods, depending on whether you have a programmable ECU or a locked ECU. Locked ECU Your MAP conversion kit contains a firmware upgrade CD. Follow the instructions on the CD to perform the upgrade. Alternatively you can return the unit to Canems for reprogramming. Programmable ECU As your ECU is programmable, there is no need to upgrade the firmware. Instead, you can simply load a new map into the ECU. Your conversion kit contains a CD with this map installed. Follow the instructions on the CD to perform the upgrade, or alternatively consult your ECU manual and the section entitled Loading and Saving Files.
