3 GE Magnetic Contacts Product Information Steel Door Contact 3 /4 and 1 contacts 1078/1076 Series Overview The GE Interlogix 1078 Series Steel Door contacts are designed specifically for use in the steel doors commonly found in commercial building applications. The unique housing design features a rugged unibody construction with flexible ribbed sides for quick, secure installation without gluing. The magnet housing isolates the magnet from the surrounding steel for maximum gap distances, both make and break. Over seven models including: Wide Gap, SPDT, DPDT, and Biased for High Security applications make the 1078 Series the most widely used and comprehensive line available. Architectural and Engineering Specifications Designed for use in Steel Doors On available models a terminal connection (T) makes installation easier. Simply strip the wire, insert it into the terminal block and tighten. The terminal accepts any wire size from 14 to 22 gauge, and has a unique one piece design for added strength. An optional Rare Earth Magnet is available. It is designed for use in metal entry/exit doors with a channel in the top of the door. The magnet eliminates the need to cut a mounting hole in the door channel. The flexible magnet housing can be compressed to accommodate a variety of channel widths for quick, easy installation. Adhesive is recommended. The contact contains a hermetically sealed magnetic reed switch. The reed shall be potted in the contact housing with a polyurethane based compound. Contact and magnet housing shall snap-lock into a 3/4" or 1" dia. hole. Housings shall be molded of flame retardant ABS plastic. Color of housings shall be off-white, grey or mahogany brown. The magnet shall be made of Alnico V. Rare Earth Magnet shall be made of neodymium iron boron. Snap-lock insulation bushing for tight fit and maximum gap in steel. Both contact and magnet plastic housings are constructed of one piece of thick-walled ABS plastic for maximum strength and durability. This medium-to-low duty swing door operator can automate new or existing swing door panels up to 125 pounds through the use of a push plate, wave sensor, or other knowing act device. 21 Cylinder and Key Stamping Key Systems VKC and CKC Visual and Concealed Key Control With these options, keys and/or cylinders are stamped with their respective keyset symbol, so lock mix-ups during installation or key mix-ups afterwards are less likely to happen and easier to straighten out if they do. Lost keys are also easier to replace. The coded information on the cylinder tells you how the cylinder is keyed, thereby eliminating trial and error. For example, the symbol AA1 shown in the illustration identifies the lock to be operated by grand master key A, master key AA and change key AA1. Upon written authorization from the building owner to an authorized Corbin Russwin Distributor, a bitting list can be furnished for each job to translate the symbols into key bittings. If a key is lost, it can easily be replaced by referring to the symbol on the cylinder and the bitting on the bitting list. VKC is not available on Security or Pyramid cylinders. Visual Key Control (VKC) For Greater Convenience The key symbol is stamped on the plug face or other visible portion of the front of the cylinder. (VKC is available on all keys, but not available on Security, CK4400 Series Lockset or Pyramid cylinders.) AA1 Concealed Key Control (CKC) For Greater Security For greater security, specify CKC on the cylinders. The key symbol is stamped in a concealed location, such as the rear of the cylinder. It is not visible to the general occupants of the building but can be accessed by authorized personnel upon removing the cylinder from the lockset. These models are also furnished with an offsetstyle jamb bracket. Designed for heavy-duty applications, 100 Series models will provide long-lasting protection to doors, frames, hinges, related hardware and surrounding walls or obstructions. 100H Series hold-open (Suffix H) The hold-open function should be used where it is desired to hold a door open at a predetermined position for short or long periods of time, permitting an unobstructed traffic flow through the opening. These models are both selective and adjustable, featuring the most reliable hold-open mechanism available. They feature a control knob which protrudes from the face of the door and turns the hold-open function on or off. Set in the inactive position, the unit acts as a stop and shock absorber. The tension on the hold-open mechanism can be adjusted using an allen wrench to offset air currents or other exterior conditions. The hold-open tension adjustment is located in the bottom of the track in the top of the door. PAGE 033

26 100HP Series internal hold-open These models provide a hold-open unit with the hold-open mechanism built into the channel, thus reducing the door prep. The 100HP have a preset hold-open force that is not adjustable. The hold-open feature is not selectable in these units, so the doors are always held open. 100F Series friction hold-open (Suffix F) Friction hold-open models provide an alternative holding method, ideal for heavy patient room doors, closet doors or similar applications where multiple hold-open positions are desired. The friction tension is adjusted using an allen wrench and an open end wrench. The friction tension adjustment is located on the top of the slider in the channel. 100S Series stop-only (Suffix S) When the hold-open function is not required, the stop-only function provides the same effective door control minus the hold-open feature. The stop-only model may be used on fire doors. 100SE Series special stop-only (Suffix SE) When stop-only models are used in conjunction with single point hold-open electronic door closers, they may be ordered without the shock-absorbing mechanism. Used as an auxiliary stop with these closers, they will prolong the life of the closer. The stop location is adjusted using an allen wrench on the stop block located in the channel. Note: Caution should be taken when using this option in other applications, as the elimination of the shock-absorbing spring can put added stress on the door and frame. Application Information UL Classification The 100 Series stop-only models are classified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) as miscellaneous fire door accessories. This classification applies to use on either hollow metal fire doors or wood fire doors. Where wood door manufacturer s listing allows for the cutout required for installation, concealed overhead stops may be used on those wood fire doors. These units may be used on doors of any rating. As a reminder, the miscellaneous fire door accessories (GVUX) section is defined by UL as: Miscellaneous fire door accessories are intended in the individual listings. The accessories have been investigated to determine that when installed in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions, the accessories do not adversely affect the fire rating of the fire door and/or fire door frames." Dead stop templating If a wall or similar obstruction is in place at 110 or less opening angle (i.e. doors that open back-to-back), dead stop templating should be used. This includes all hold-open, friction and stop-only models, except when the SE option is used. The dead stop position is reached when the shock-absorbing spring is fully compressed, the initial degree of opening will be 5 to 7 less than the dead stop opening. Example: If the holder is templated to a 100 dead stop, the door will hold open at an angle between 93 and 95 but no further than 100. Note: Do not use dead-stop templating on the 100SE Series since there is no shock-absorbing spring. Environmental considerations Environmental factors should always be considered when specifying overhead holders and stops. Doors that are positioned on a building s exterior or subject to corrosive conditions should be equipped with a holder constructed primarily of stainless steel or brass materials. For interior applications, steel is acceptable, though brass substrates generally provide a more attractive architectural-grade finish. Options Suffix ADJ (adjustable jamb bracket) An additional option on the 100 Series is the adjustable jamb bracket, which allows the degree of hold-open or stop angle to be adjusted after installation. Suffix ADJ is available in all functions, but only in sizes 3, 4, 5 & 6. ADJ jamb bracket requires additional frame prep. The ADJ option cannot be added to an existing unit, it must be factory ordered. Suffix CJ (closer jamb bracket) Provides a special jamb bracket needed for 100 Series units used with LCN 5030 closers. These special jamb brackets are handed, so handing will need to be specified when ordering the CJ option, CJLH for a left hand door and CJRH for a right hand door. The CJ option cannot be added to an existing unit, it must be factory ordered. Suffix SOC (Pin-in-socket security screw package) A screw package with pin-in-socket screws for mounting the jamb bracket to the frame is provided instead of the standard screw package. FL Series Bar Coodinators The COR Series Coordinators are designed for use on pairs of doors when one door needs to close before the other. All COR units function easily. 60 98/99 Chexit, RCM and DE5300 features The Chexit, Remote Chexit Module (RCM) or DE5300 devices have several features and options available to fit your applications. See below for more information. Inputs & Outputs Fire Alarm Input This input releases the door immediately upon a fire alarm allowing immediate egress. The Internal Alarm can be silenced during a fire input via an onboard switch setting. Inhibit Input (Access Control) This optional input is provided to allow authorized egress or entry when the device is Armed using an external card reader, Key Switch, etc. It also allows remote reset of the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 in an alarmed condition. The ability to reset alarms with the inhibit input can be disabled via an onboard switch setting. Door Position Switch Input An optional Door Position Switch (DPS) can provide door position status to Chexit, RCM or DE5300 for additional security, ensuring that the door is closed, and can cause alarm when the door is left or forced open. Gang Bus The Gang bus allows a Chexit, RCM or DE5300 device to signal other Chexit, RCM or DE5300 devices when it enters the Release Delay, allowing multiple doors to release at the same time in an emergency. Up to 8 devices may be connected to the Gang Bus. Alarm Relay Contacts The Alarm Relay contacts are provided as a means to control a Remote Alarm, such as a horn or lamp, or signal an external monitor. The contacts can be configured with a jumper as Normally Open or Normally Closed, and become active upon entering an alarmed condition. Secure Relay Contacts The Secure Relay contacts are provided as a means to signal an external monitor. The contacts can be configured as Normally Open or Normally Closed with a jumper, and become active when the DPS indicates the door is closed and the Push Pad is locked. Delays Release Delay When the Push Pad is pushed and the Nuisance Delay expires, the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 enters the Release Delay with alarm. During the Release Delay, the Internal Alarm sounds, the Alarm Relay activates, and the Chexit/RCM keeps the Push Pad or DE5300 magnetic lock, locked for 15 seconds (less any time already elapsed during the Nuisance Delay). Once started, the Release Delay sequence will not stop and the devices will unlock. Nuisance Delay When a Chexit, RCM or DE5300 is located in a public area, it can be desirable to limit false releases when the Push Pad is accidently pushed. The Nuisance Delay is the brief time a Push Pad can be accidently pushed before the Release Delay sequence starts. If the Nuisance Time is set to 0 seconds the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 will enter Release Delay as soon as the Push Pad is pushed (when armed). Setting the Nuisance Time to 1, 2, or 3 seconds allows the Push Pad to be pressed for 1 to 3 seconds before the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 goes into Release Delay. If the Nuisance Audio and Nuisance Delay are both on, the Internal Alarm will pulse during the Nuisance Delay. The Alarm Relay does not activate during the Nuisance Delay. If the Push Pad is released before the Nuisance Delay expires, the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 will remain armed. Rearm Delay The Rearm Delay is the amount of time after the Key Switch or Inhibit Input is deactivated to when the device rearms. It is designed to give someone time to pass through the door before rearming occurs. The Rearm Time can be changed via the onboard switch settings from 0 and 28 seconds in 2 second increments. If the Rearm Time is set to 30 seconds and a DPS is used, if the door is opened and the Rearm Time expires, there will be no alarm. The Chexit, RCM or DE5300 will rearm after the door is closed. If the door never opens, the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 will rearm after 30 seconds. If not using a DPS, the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 will always rearm in 30 seconds. DPS Delay If the DPS detects that the door closed during the Rearm Delay, the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 ends the Rearm Delay and allows 2 seconds for the latch to clear the strike before rearming. Interface Key Switch The Key Switch provides the means to Arm or Disarm/Reset the Chexit, RCM or DE5300. Turning the Key Switch clockwise initiates the Rearm Delay, and turning the Key Switch counterclockwise Disarms/Resets the Chexit, RCM or DE5300. The Key Switch allows the key to be removed in either the Arm or the Disarm/Reset position. Status Indicator The red Status Indicator displays the status of the Chexit, RCM or DE5300. The Status Indicator flashes slow if the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 is armed, flashes fast in an alarmed mode, is off when inhibited and on solid during Rearm Delay. Internal Alarm The Internal Alarm sounds the status of the Chexit, RCM or DE5300. The Internal Alarm sounds continuously during and after a fire alarm or a Release Delay, pulses fast during the Nuisance Delay or a tamper and pulses slow during Disarmed Powerup mode. Settings Armed Powerup When set to OFF, a power disruption and power return will put the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 in a disarmed, unlocked alarm mode. Trim Fail Safe / Fail Secure (FS/FSE) The trim input power can be set to FS (Fail Safe; locked when energized, unlocked when deenergized or during power failure) or FSE (Fail Secure; unlocked when energized, locked when deenergized or during power failure). A control station operator can flip a switch to retract the latch bolt and immediately change an exit door to push-pull operation. A powerful, continuous duty solenoid retracts the latch bolt, either for momentary unlatching, or for extended periods of time. The EL feature is an alternative to manual dogging. If manual hex-key dogging is required, specify HD-EL. If cylinder dogging is required, the standard cylinder dogging is not available, but special center case dogging is available, specify SD-EL. SD-EL is not available on the 9875 or 9975 devices. EL devices are also useful with automatic door operators, and may be applied to fire-rated applications when under the control of an automatic fire alarm system. 68 33A/35A Electrical options ALK Alarm kit RX Request to exit The ALK battery alarm kit is a simple yet effective way to deter unauthorized use of an opening. While the exit device is still a means of egress, the ALK kit contains an internal horn. When the touch bar is depressed, the horn sounds to provide an audible means of signaling that the opening has been violated. The alarm kit can be armed or disarmed by key. Thus allowing the exit device to be set in an armed or disarmed mode. The horn is rated at 85 decibel. The key switch uses a standard 1 1 /4" (32mm) mortise cylinder with a straight cam (Schlage Cam reference B ). The unit operates on one standard 9-volt alkaline battery. When the battery is weak, the horn will emit an intermittent low battery alert signal. The RX feature is used to signal the use of an opening. This device is equipped with one internal SPDT switch which monitors the pushpad. The device can be connected to a security console, or may be used as a single door alarm when used with a horn and power supply. A continuous current electric transfer must be used for transferring power from the frame to the door. The RX switch option should not be used to control a load, but as a signalling switch (0.5 amps. resistive maximum). The RX switch is available in a low current (LC) switch. Most commonly used in computer operated monitoring systems. Also can be powered using the PS902 power supply. See PS902 for additional information. Alarm kits are available with a choice of two switch kits, RX or LX. RX monitors the touchpad and is furnished standard. 70 33/35 Chexit, RCM and DE5300 features The Chexit, Remote Chexit Module (RCM) or DE5300 devices have several features and options available to fit your applications. See below for more information. Inputs & Outputs Fire Alarm Input This input releases the door immediately upon a fire alarm allowing immediate egress. The Internal Alarm can be silenced during a fire input via an onboard switch setting. Inhibit Input (Access Control) This optional input is provided to allow authorized egress or entry when the device is Armed using an external card reader, Key Switch, etc. It also allows remote reset of the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 in an alarmed condition. The ability to reset alarms with the inhibit input can be disabled via an onboard switch setting. Door Position Switch Input An optional Door Position Switch (DPS) can provide door position status to Chexit, RCM or DE5300 for additional security, ensuring that the door is closed, and can cause alarm when the door is left or forced open. Gang Bus The Gang bus allows a Chexit, RCM or DE5300 device to signal other Chexit, RCM or DE5300 devices when it enters the Release Delay, allowing multiple doors to release at the same time in an emergency. Up to 8 devices may be connected to the Gang Bus. Alarm Relay Contacts The Alarm Relay contacts are provided as a means to control a Remote Alarm, such as a horn or lamp, or signal an external monitor. The contacts can be configured with a jumper as Normally Open or Normally Closed, and become active upon entering an alarmed condition. Secure Relay Contacts The Secure Relay contacts are provided as a means to signal an external monitor. The contacts can be configured as Normally Open or Normally Closed with a jumper, and become active when the DPS indicates the door is closed and the Push Pad is locked. Delays Release Delay When the Push Pad is pushed and the Nuisance Delay expires, the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 enters the Release Delay with alarm. During the Release Delay, the Internal Alarm sounds, the Alarm Relay activates, and the Chexit/RCM keeps the Push Pad or DE5300 magnetic lock, locked for 15 seconds (less any time already elapsed during the Nuisance Delay). Once started, the Release Delay sequence will not stop and the devices will unlock. Nuisance Delay When a Chexit, RCM or DE5300 is located in a public area, it can be desirable to limit false releases when the Push Pad is accidently pushed. The Nuisance Delay is the brief time a Push Pad can be accidently pushed before the Release Delay sequence starts. If the Nuisance Time is set to 0 seconds the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 will enter Release Delay as soon as the Push Pad is pushed (when armed). Setting the Nuisance Time to 1, 2, or 3 seconds allows the Push Pad to be pressed for 1 to 3 seconds before the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 goes into Release Delay. If the Nuisance Audio and Nuisance Delay are both on, the Internal Alarm will pulse during the Nuisance Delay. The Alarm Relay does not activate during the Nuisance Delay. If the Push Pad is released before the Nuisance Delay expires, the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 will remain armed. Rearm Delay The Rearm Delay is the amount of time after the Key Switch or Inhibit Input is deactivated to when the device rearms. It is designed to give someone time to pass through the door before rearming occurs. The Rearm Time can be changed via the onboard switch settings from 0 and 28 seconds in 2 second increments. If the Rearm Time is set to 30 seconds and a DPS is used, if the door is opened and the Rearm Time expires, there will be no alarm. The Chexit, RCM or DE5300 will rearm after the door is closed. If the door never opens, the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 will rearm after 30 seconds. If not using a DPS, the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 will always rearm in 30 seconds. DPS Delay If the DPS detects that the door closed during the Rearm Delay, the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 ends the Rearm Delay and allows 2 seconds for the latch to clear the strike before rearming. Interface Key Switch The Key Switch provides the means to Arm or Disarm/Reset the Chexit, RCM or DE5300. Turning the Key Switch clockwise initiates the Rearm Delay, and turning the Key Switch counterclockwise Disarms/Resets the Chexit, RCM or DE5300. The Key Switch allows the key to be removed in either the Arm or the Disarm/Reset position. Status Indicator The red Status Indicator displays the status of the Chexit, RCM or DE5300. The Status Indicator flashes slow if the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 is armed, flashes fast in an alarmed mode, is off when inhibited and on solid during Rearm Delay. Internal Alarm The Internal Alarm sounds the status of the Chexit, RCM or DE5300. The Internal Alarm sounds continuously during and after a fire alarm or a Release Delay, pulses fast during the Nuisance Delay or a tamper and pulses slow during Disarmed Powerup mode. Settings Armed Powerup When set to OFF, a power disruption and power return will put the Chexit, RCM or DE5300 in a disarmed, unlocked alarm mode. Trim Fail Safe / Fail Secure (FS/FSE) The trim input power can be set to FS (Fail Safe; locked when energized, unlocked when deenergized or during power failure) or FSE (Fail Secure; unlocked when energized, locked when deenergized or during power failure).
