1 SFETY GTE SSEMLY INSTRUTIONS TO SUIT LUMINIUM / FIREGLSS PLTFORM STEP LDDERS WITH 500mm HNDRIL WIDTH 500mm Please read all these instructions completely before mounting and using the Safety Gate. Do not attempt to fit this Safety Gate unless you are competent in the use of hand tools including: Spanners and Power Tools. Do not attempt to fit this Safety Gate unless you understand basic technical drawings and can relate such drawings to step by step instructions. If you do not understand these instructions, contact your employer, dealer, or the manufacturer for assistance. Your original product has been manufactured to exacting standards. If the Safety Gate is fitted incorrectly you can compromise your safety and the integrity of the product. 2 Step 1 - Identify Kit omponents Identify all the components in the carton. Rear ross ar (x1) RHS Side rm (x1) Tools required: - lamp - Drill - 6.5mm Drill bit - 11mm Spanners (x2) LHS Side rm (x1) Gate Rail (x1) Parts Kit (x1) Identify all the components in the Parts Kit. Support Plate (x2) (only required for fibreglass models) Drilling Template (x1) Gate Rail lip (x1) 3" olt (x2) 2 1/2" olt (x2) 2 1/4" olt (x2) 2" olt (x3) 1 1/4" olt (x4) Spacer ush (x4) (only required for models with 475mm wide handrails) Joiner (x2) olts (ctual Size) Note: Not all bolts are required. (Use bolts as specified in instructions). Pivot ush (x2) Washer (x12) Nut (x5) PGE 2

3 Step 2 - Drill Mounting Holes Handrail RHS stile ORRET placement of drilling template Front face of stile LHS stile Drill through handrail and stile using a 6.5mm drill bit. Position the drilling template against the front face of the stile and against the outside face of the handrail. Slide up against bottom of handrail. lamp in place. INORRET placement of drilling template Drill through stile using a 6.5mm drill bit. D Use the drilling template to drill the RHS stile. PGE 3

4 Step 3 - Mount LHS Slide Pivot Slide pivot Remove slide pivot from side arm assembly. LHS side arm assembly. Insert 2" bolt into slide pivot and through the drilled hole in the handrail. Slide pivot olt Fit washer and nut onto bolt. Tighten nut and bolt until all surfaces contact. (Do not over tighten). PGE 4

5 Step 4 - Mounting LHS Side rm ssembly Slide pivot Reassemble side arm assembly onto slide pivot. LHS side arm assembly. Pivot bush Side arm support Drilled hole in stile Insert pivot bush into side arm support. Insert bolt through washer, pivot bush and through the drilled hole in the stile. Step 4 continued on PGE 6 Use: 2 1/4" bolt for aluminium models, 2 1/2" bolt for fibreglass models. PGE 5

6 Step 4 (continued) - Mounting LHS Side rm ssembly D ssemble support plate, washer and nut onto bolt. (Firmly tighten nut and bolt). olt Support plate (only required for fibreglass models). E Ensure the side arm assembly will slide and pivot to this position. F Repeat steps 3 & 4 to mount the RHS side arm assembly. PGE 6

7 Step 5 - ssembly of Rear ross ar Rear cross bar Insert joiner into end of side arm. Side arm Insert rear cross bar into joiner. Side arm Rear cross bar Rear cross bar Insert 1 1/4" bolts through washers and into side arm and rear cross bar. (Firmly tighten bolts). D Repeat step 5 to assemble the other end of the rear cross bar. PGE 7

8 Step 6 - ssembly of Gate Rail Side arm assembly Gate rail Position gate rail into side arm assembly Insert 2" bolt through washer, side arm hinge bracket and gate rail. Fit washer and nut onto bolt. Tighten nut and bolt until all surfaces contact. Side arm hinge bracket D ssemble gate rail clip onto side arm hinge bracket.
