2 Automatic Transmission Cleaning Why? How? Modern automatic transmission fluids should be replaced at least every 50-60,000 km according to the manufacturers specifications. Some manufacturers even do not instruct change intervals. This is a so-called lifetime filling. However, even in compliance with the oil change intervals, damages or defects can occur. In contrast to manual transmissions, automatic transmission wear out considerably faster.
