3 Target group: These installation instructions are primarily designed for use within the MINI dealership organisation and by authorised MINI service companies. In any event the target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on MINI cars with the appropriate specialist knowledge. All work must be completed using the latest repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and work instructions in a rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and safety regulations. Item numbers refer only to the overview drawing and to the texts next to the appropriate figure. The xenon headlight retrofit kit only applies to cars with an air conditioning system. In cars without a headlight cleaning system, it is also necessary to order the headlight cleaning system installation kit by quoting retrofit kit No Order and install heated spray jets if requested by the customer. Subject to technical modifications. Installation information Ensure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car. If the specified PIN numbers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals must be used. 19 13. To install the xenon headlights F G L L B Install xenon headlights F/G. Attach the xenon headlight control unit left/right using 2 fillister head self-tapping screws L each. EN/19

20 14. To install the load sensors Wheel arch front left Unscrew the bolt (1) at the front which secures the inner ball joint to the front axle transverse control arm. Ensure that the drive shaft joint cup (2) is not damaged. Install the load sensor holder H, tighten bolt (1) to 165 Nm. # &# * H M If there is no thread in the front axle bracket, use the M6 tapping tool to cut a thread in the existing hole (1). Use hexagonal screw M6 x 16 Mto screw the holder and load sensor H tightly onto the front axle bracket. 1 1 # && * Rear left transverse control arm If there is no thread in the transverse control arm, use the M8 tapping tool to cut a thread in the existing holes (1). # &' * O 1 Rear left axle bracket If there is no thread in the axle bracket, use the M6 tapping tool to cut a thread in the existing holes (1). Use 2 pan head screws M8 x 21 O to screw the holder and load sensor I tightly onto the top transverse control arm. M Use 2 hexagonal screws M6 x 16 Mto screw the holder and load sensor tightly onto the axle bracket. I # ' * The load sensor must be fitted above the brake line. EN/2

21 15. To install the headlight adjustment control wiring harness Route A1 A12 underneath the rear seat bench to the rear load sensor through the rubber grommet (1). Carefully cut open the rubber grommet to do this. Seal the rubber grommet (1). 1 A1-A12 # '! * Connect A1 A12 to the supplied SW 6-pin casing. A1 SW/WS PIN 1 A11 SW/GR PIN 5 A12 SW/GN PIN 4 Seal unused slots with the supplied blind stoppers and route them towards the front like cables. # '" * Route A6 A8 through the rubber grommet (1) below the fuse box. Seal the rubber grommet (1). A6-A8 # " * Q Route A6 A8 to the load sensor and secure it to the existing cable using a cable tie J. If (1) is not fitted, fit a cable tie Q and secure it to the wiring harness. 1 A6-A8 J # "! * EN/21

22 15. To install the headlight adjustment control wiring harness Connect A6 A8 to the supplied SW 6-pin casing. A6 GR/BR PIN 5 A7 GR/WS PIN 1 A8 GR/GN PIN 4 Use the supplied blind stoppers to seal the free slots. # '% * )' Footwell front left. Route A9 to the SW 42-pin plug X15S and connect it. A9 GR/GE X15S, PIN 6 Route A1 A5 behind the radio to the right-hand side # '& * A1 1 Footwell front right. Use 2 M6 nuts N to screw the LWR (headlight adjustment control) module R tightly on to the existing stud bolt (1). Route A1 to the LWR (headlight adjustment control) module R. R N #! * If the installation site is already occupied, secure with a cable tie. Footwell front right. Route A2 to the main cable loom. Carefully cut open the main cable loom and locate the BL/RT cable. Use the supplied miniature connector P to connect A2 BL/RT to the BL/RT power supply cable of the base module X254, PIN ) #! * EN/22

23 15. To install the headlight adjustment control wiring harness Right side skirt. Connect A3 WS/RT/GE to the joint connector X1116. If occupied, attach A3 to X1116 using miniature connector P. )! :$ #! * :# Right side skirt. Screw A5 tightly onto earth post connection X151. )# #! * )" :&$ Right side skirt. Connect A4 GE/GN to the joint connector X1186. If occupied, attach A4 to X1186 using miniature connector P. #!" * EN/23

To install the headlight wiring harness *" *! * * #!$ * Remove the old headlight wiring harness as far as the rubber grommet behind the ABS hydraulic unit (the old wiring harness will later be shortened and removed). Route the headlight wiring harness B along the cable guide for the old headlight wiring harness. B1 to X13 B2 to X135 B3 to X15 B4 to X16 If you are not installing heated spray jets, insulate B3 and B4 and tie them back to a suitable point. Only for RHD cars. B7ÐB26 Rubber grommet (1) near the brake booster. Carefully cut open the rubber grommet (1) and thread B7 B26 through the rubber grommet (1) into the interior. Seal the rubber grommet (1). * # " * * B7ÐB26 Only for LHD cars. Rubber grommet (1) behind the ABS hydraulic unit. Carefully cut open the rubber grommet (1) and thread B7 B26 through the rubber grommet (1) into the interior. Seal the rubber grommet (1). #!% * EN/24

25 16. To install the headlight wiring harness B8ÐB13 Route B8 B13 above the instrument holder to the left. Tie back B8 and B11 (not required). #!& * Route B9 and B1 to the washing water pump relay X1594. Disconnect the old cables in question, tie them back and replace them with new ones. Disconnect the old cables in question, tie them back and replace them with new ones. 27 16. To install the xenon headlight wiring harness Base module WS plug X254. Disconnect and tie back the following cables: BL/RT PIN 1 GE/BR PIN 2 BL/SW PIN 3 BL/BR PIN 19 GE/RT PIN 2 BL/BR PIN 21 : #" #!# * :# GE/SW PIN 37 GE/BR PIN 38 Route B7 to the earth post connection X151 and screw it on tightly. *% #!$ * a 1 Cut off the old wiring harness in front of the rubber grommet (1) and insulate it so it is water-tight. Dimension a = 1 mm Tie back the wiring harness to a suitable point. #!% * EN/27

28 17. To install the light module wiring harness + Footwell front left. Connect C1 GR/GE to X15B, PIN 6. :#* #!& * Route C2 and C3 above the instrument holder to the right to the base module. C2-C3 #!' * Base module right. Connect C2 and C3 to plug X255. C2 GR/GE PIN 34 C3 GR/GE PIN 52 If the plug is occupied, disconnect it and tie it back. : ## #! * EN/28

29 18. To install the instrument cluster wiring harness :!* Footwell front left. Connect D1 D3 to the SW 18-pin plug X23B. 32 19. To install the base module wiring harness Replace the manual headlight adjustment control switch in the oddments box with the supplied cover K. K #!! * EN/32

33 2. Coding Connect the battery. This system requires coding. - To ensure that the retrofit system - is fully functional and - prevents malfunctions and errors when combined with other electrical systems in the car, this retrofit system and, possibly, other components must be coded and saved in the central code of the IKE. This coding process is automatic using the current coding program in the Retrofit path. The procedure is user-guided, follow the text instructions for completing each individual step.
