Insert the leads of the Distribution Cable through the hole, one-at-a-time, starting with the largest connector and ending with the smallest connector. 4. Insert the 3/4-in. inside diameter rubber grommet into the hole, around the wires of the Distribution Cable. 5. Make a slit in the floor mat so the floor mat will slide over the large round connector of the Distribution Cable. The large round connector of the Distribution Cable should protrude above the floor mat as shown in Figure Connect the Cab Cable to the monitor console. IMPORTANT: Never use force to mate electrical connectors. If the connectors do not push together easily, they are not aligned properly. Use of force on connectors will result in connector damage. 9-4 December

7. Route the cab cable to the Distribution Cable using the stick-on, snapopen/closed clips to attach the Cab Cable to the front windshield. Use the alcohol swabs to clean the window before attaching the stick-on snapopen/closed clips. Refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2 and route the Cab Cable down the front windshield along the side of the front right cab post and then across the bottom of the windshield along the floor. Connect the Cab Cable to the Distribution Cable Installing Power Cable and Elevator Speed Cables Parts required for this procedure: Elevator Speed Cable 18 ft 6 in. Power Cable 15 ft Ground and Elevator Speed Installation Kit Cable Installation Kit Step-by-Step Procedure 1. Refer to Figure 3 and on the left side of the combine, underneath the battery, locate two bearings, one on lower clean grain elevator shaft and one on the return tailings elevator shaft. The shaft that is closest to the front of the combine is the lower clean elevator shaft. 2. Refer to Figure 4 and install the shaft speed sensor on the clean grain elevator bearing (shaft closest to the front of the combine) as follows: a. Mount the sensor bracket on the existing bearing bolts. b. Mount the sensor on the bracket. c. Mount the magnet collar assembly on the locking collar of the bearing. NOTE: The existing bearing bolts may be too long and may hit the sensor, if they are, replace them with shorter bolts. (Shorter bolt are not provided) 3. Install the ring terminal leads of the Power Cable to the combine battery terminals. Install the black wire of the Power Cable to the negative battery terminal. Ensure you install the red wire with the yellow in-line fuse of the Power Cable to the positive terminal of the battery. December

Install the cable clips around one of the cables as shown in Figure 7 and fasten the cable clips to the support arms using the two 1/4 in. bolts. Use the cable ties and tie the other cable to the first cable that is now secured to the support arm by two cable clips. Support Arm Cable Clips Figure 7. Power Cable routed up the vertical support arm on the left side of the combine (Elevator Speed Cable not shown) 7. Route both cables forward, underneath the combine cab to the Distribution Cable. Connect the Power Cable to the Distribution Cable. 8. Before connecting the Elevator Speed Cable to the Distribution Cable you must install the Elevator Speed Power Cable (cable 10-in. long with two 2-pin connectors and two 3-pin connectors). The Elevator Speed Power Cable provides power to the Elevator Speed Sensor by teeing between the Power Cable and the Distribution Cable. Connect the Elevator Speed Power Cable to the Power and Elevator Speed Cable and the respective Distribution Cable connectors. 9-8 December

9. Verify that the monitor console powers up. If the monitor console does not power up, quickly turn it OFF and make sure the ring terminal leads of the Power Cable are installed on the correct battery terminals. Installing Ground S peed Sensor Parts required for this procedure: Sprocket and hub assembly Elevator and Ground Speed Installation Kit Step-by-Step Procedure 1. Remove the right side final drive shaft, located behind the right front axle on the right side of the combine. NOTE: You may need to sand off the rust and dirt from the shaft before installing the hub and sprocket onto the shaft. 2. Install the hub and sprocket onto the final drive shaft so the collar of the hub points towards the center of the combine, not towards the tire. Refer to Figure 8. Hub and Sprocket Assembly Ground Speed Sensor Final Drive Shaft Figure 8. Hub and sprocket installed on right side final drive shaft. Ground speed sensor installed on frame. December

3. Re-installed the final drive shaft, with the hub and sprocket installed on the shaft. 4. Use the provided bracket and install the ground speed sensor to the frame; using the large bolt in the frame to attach the bracket to the frame as shown in Figure Position the sprocket on the final drive shaft so that as it turns the sprocket teeth will pass directly under the ground speed sensor. Tighten the set screws in the collar of the hub. 6. Secure the ground speed sensor in the bracket so that the sensor is 1/16 1/8 in. distance from the teeth of the sprocket. Move the combine forward so that the hub and sprocket assembly rotates one revolution and check the clearance between the shaft speed sensor and the sprocket teeth (the hub is slightly larger than the final drive shaft and the sprocket will rotate slightly off center around the drive shaft). 7. Do not install the ground speed cable at this time. It will be installed with the flow sensor cable and moisture sensor cable as instructed. Installing Elevator Deflector Plate Parts required for this procedure: Elevator Deflector Plate stainless steel Deflector Plate Installation Kit Step-by-Step Procedure 1. On the right side of the combine at the bottom of the clean grain elevator, disconnect the drive chain (4425) or remove the drive belt (4435) from the slip clutch mechanism. 2. Rotate the clean grain elevator by hand until the disconnecting link of the paddle chain is at the bottom of the elevator (if the clean grain elevator is difficult to turn by hand, disconnect the fill auger drive chain at the top of the clean grain elevator). Disconnect the clean grain elevator paddle chain December

3. At the top of the clean grain elevator, open the top shield. Refer to Figure 9 and measure and make a line (from left-to-right), 5/8 in. from the front edge of the top housing that is directly above the grain elevator paddles. On that line, measure and make two center punch marks that are 4 in. apart, but centered left-to-right on the top housing. 4. Drill two clearance holes in the top housing using the 11/32-in. drill bit. Reinforcing Bar Mounting Block Elevator Deflector Plate Figure 9. Elevator Deflector Plate installed in top of the grain elevator. 5. Install the deflector plate, mounting block and reinforcing bar as shown in Figure 9. Ensure the deflector plate is pushed back against the backside of the grain elevator housing. Use a flat washer, lock washer and tighten down both nylock nuts. 6. Rotate a paddle to the top of the elevator shaft. Measure the clearance between the deflector plate and tip of the paddle. Use both bearing bolts to adjust the position of the top shaft up, until there is a 1/2-in. clearance or less between the tip of the paddle and the deflector plate. This clearance is very critical to measuring grain flow accurately. IMPORTANT: Never move the top shaft after it is adjusted to obtain 1/2 in. or less clearance. Moving the top shaft will greatly decrease your calibration accuracy and you will have to recalibrate your yield monitor. December

7. Drill two clearance holes in the top shield so the two 5/16 in. carriage bolts can protrude through the shield and the shield can fully close. 8. Install Do Not Adjust! Use Lower Adjuster! decal on top of the elevator head. Installing Flow Sensor Parts required for this procedure: Flow Sensor Black Load Cell with integral cable and 2 tapped holes for 5/16-in. bolts. Flow Sensor Installation Kit 1-3/8 in. hole saw 11/32 in. drill bit Step-by-Step Procedure 1. Refer to Figure 10 and measure down 2-11/16 in. from the top housing surface and draw a horizontal line on the front housing surface of the clean grain elevator. 11/32 in. Clearance Holes Figure 10. Two 11/32-in. clearance holes for flow sensor bolts in front elevator housing December

2. On the horizontal line (2-11/16 in. from top housing surface) measure over 2-9/16 in. from the left side (as you are facing the elevator as in Figure 10) of the front housing and make a mark. From that mark, measure over to the right 1-1/8 in. and make another mark. Measure the distance between the left side of the elevator and then measure the distance between the right side of the elevator. Both distances should be the same. If they are not, that means the two marks 1-1/8 in. apart are not centered side-to-side on the front housing. If this is the case, measure the total width of the front housing and subtract 1-1/8 in. and then divide that by 2 and measure over the left side by that amount. Always keep the two marks 1-1/8 in. apart from each other. 3. Make two center punch marks and use the provided 11/32 in. drill bit and drill two clearance holes for the two 5/16 in. hex head screws that screw into the back of the black load cell. 4. On the housing of the grain elevator, that is directly above the horizontal fill auger, measure back 1-1/4 in. from the front edge and make a mark. From either the right or left side, measure over 3-1/8 in. and make another mark. Make a center punch mark at the intersection of the two marks and use the 1-3/8 in. hole saw and drill a hole, for the black grommet, through the top housing. 5. Refer to Figures 11 and 12 and install the black flow sensor to the front housing of the grain elevator using the following procedure: Flow Sensor Cable 3/8 in. I.D. grommet Reinforcing Bar Figure 11. Flow Sensor mounted to the front grain elevator housing. December

a. Install the black 3/8 in. I.D. grommet over the flow sensor cable with the groove in the grommet closest to the top of the black flow sensor. b. Reach underneath the front of the elevator and position the flow sensor inside the front of the elevator head just in front of the horizontal fill auger. Feed the flow sensor cable through the 1-3/8 in. hole in the top of the elevator housing. From the underside of the top housing, insert the grommet into the 1-3/8 in. hole. The grommet should protrude upwards through the top elevator. As shown in Figure 12. c. Take two reinforcing bars (1/4 x 3 x 3-1/2 in.) and position one on the inside front elevator housing and position the other bar on the outside of the front elevator housing as shown in Figure 11. Install the reinforcing bars so that the longest side of both bars are in the vertical position. IMPORTANT: Do not use extreme force when tightening these two bolts and thus damage or ruin the flow sensor. d. Align the two holes of both reinforcing bars with the two holes in the front elevator housing and the (2) holes in the back of the black flow sensor. Use (2) 5/16 in. lockwashers and install the (2) 5/16-18 x 1 in. hex head screws into the back of the flow sensor. e. Refer to Figure 12 and drill a clearance hole (using the 1-3/8 in. hole saw) in the top shield of the grain elevator head so the flow sensor cable can pass through the top shield when it is closed December

3/8 in. I.D. Grommet Flow Sensor Flow Sensor Cable Elevator Deflector Plate Figure 12. Flow Sensor installed to the front grain elevator housing Installing Moisture Sensor Parts required for this procedure: Moisture Sensor (21 ft cable) Moisture Sensor Tube (7 in. tube) Bottom cover for Moisture Sensor Tube Moisture Sensor Installation Kit Sabre Saw Step-by-Step Procedure 1. Remove the top shield that is above the existing horizontal auger that fills the grain tank. You will have to leave this shield off after installing the moisture sensor tube to allow the grain tank to fill evenly. 2. On the side opposite the grain elevator remove the bearing support anchors and bearing on the horizontal fill auger. Slide the Moisture Sensor tube onto the horizontal fill auger as shown in Figure 13. Ensure the cutout end of the Moisture Sensor Tube is toward the grain elevator head when sliding the Moisture Sensor Tube onto the horizontal fill auger. December

Moisture Sensor Tube Figure 13. Moisture Sensor Tube slide onto horizontal fill auger 3. Re-install the bearing and bearing support anchors on the end of the horizontal fill auger. 4. The Moisture Sensor installation requires removing 6-1/2 in. of flighting from the horizontal fill auger so that grain will flow past the moisture sensor at all times. Refer to Figure 14 and follow the steps below to cut the flighting: 6-1/2 in. of Removed Flighting Figure /2 in. of flighting removed from the horizontal fill auger December

a. Slide the Moisture Sensor Tube over completely against the side of the grain elevator head. Make sure the rectangular hole in the Moisture Sensor Tube is on the bottom side of the tube. b. Look up through the rectangular hole in the Moisture Sensor Tube and rotate the horizontal fill auger until the flighting of the auger is directly over one of the short sides of the rectangular hole in the Moisture Sensor Tube. Make a mark on the outside edge of the flighting where the flighting passes over the side of the rectangular hole. Mark the outside edge of the flighting in the same way on the opposite side of the rectangular hole in the Moisture Sensor Tube. c. Slide the Moisture Sensor Tube away from the side of the grain elevator head. d. The two marks on the outside edge of the flighting mark the location to cut the flighting. Before cutting the flighting, weld the flighting to the auger shaft next to where the flighting will be cut. You may not need to weld the flighting if the flighting already is securely welded to the shaft where the flighting will be cut. e. Use a good sabre and cut the flighting completely down to the shaft. Start cutting from the mark on the outside edge of the flighting and make a perpendicular cut to the auger shaft. Make sure that you remove 6-1/2 in. of flighting along the line of the auger shaft, not 6-1/2 in. of flighting radially. NOTE: You must remove the flighting all the way down to the auger shaft. If you leave some flighting on the auger shaft it may cause the moisture sensor to read erratic. f. Slide the Moisture Sensor Tube back against the side of the elevator head. Insert the clearance gauge into the rectangular hole in the Moisture Sensor Tube and rotate the auger and make sure the flighting of the auger does not hit the clearance gauge. If the flighting does hit the clearance gauge, you must trim back more flighting. 5. Slide the Moisture Sensor Tube back against the side of the elevator head. Refer to Figures 15 and 16 and mount the moisture sensor to the side of the elevator as follows: December

a. Center the Moisture Sensor Tube around the horizontal fill auger and drill (3) 5/16 in. clearance holes (using the 11/32 in. drill bit) through the existing (3) holes in tube flanges as guides and through the side of the elevator head as shown in Figures 15 and 16. b. Mount the Moisture Sensor tube using (6) 5/16-in. hex head screws. You will have to use your own judgement and drill (3) new holes through the flanges on the Moisture Sensor Tube and through the side of the elevator head. c. Use 5/16 x 1-in. hex head screws with flat washers, lockwashers and nylock nuts and fasten the Moisture Sensor Tube to the side of the elevator head. IMPORTANT: Ensure the Moisture Sensor Tube is centered evenly around the fill auger so that when the auger turns the flighting does not hit the tube. Use the extra 5/16-in. flat washers, as needed, between the elevator head and Moisture Sensor Tube mounting flanges to center the tube even with the auger flighting. Figure 15. Moisture Sensor Tube mounted to side of grain elevator head December

Figure 16. Moisture Sensor Tube mounted to side of grain elevator head. 6. Refer to Figure 17 and install the bottom cover to the Moisture Sensor Tube underneath the flow sensor. Use (2) 1/4-x 3/4-in. hex head screws with 1/4-in. lockwashers and nylock nuts. Figure 17. Bottom Cover of Moisture Sensor Tube installed underneath flow sensor. December

Moisture Sensor mounted to Moisture Sensor Tube Routing Flow Sensor Cable, Moisture Sensor Cable and Ground S peed Cable Parts required for this procedure: Integral Moisture Sensor Cable Flow Sensor Extension Cable Ground Speed Cable Cable installation kit Step-by-Step Procedure 1. Use a 1/4 in. cable clip and attach the integral flow sensor cable (that is attached to the flow sensor) to the 5/16 in. deflector bolt as shown in Figure Connect the flow sensor extension cable to the integral flow sensor cable attached to the flow sensor. Route the moisture sensor cable underneath the elevator head and along the right side of the elevator head, just underneath the horizontal fill auger drive chain. Secure the moisture sensor cable with a cable clip and cable ties. Route both cables down the side of the grain elevator to the bottom of the grain tank December

Ele Elevator Deflector Plate Bolt Flow Sensor Extension Cable Figure 19. Flow Sensor Cable attached to the Elevator Deflector Plate bolt 3. Refer to Figure 21 and use the 1-3/8 in. hole saw and drill a hole through the bottom of the grain tank next to the grain elevator. Route the Moisture Sensor and Flow Sensor Extension Cable though the hole in the grain tank. 4. Attach the 3/4 in. I.D. rubber grommet around both cables and install the grommet and cables into the hole in the grain tank floor. Apply the silicone sealant around both cables at the grommet in the grain tank floor. Secure both cables to the grain elevator next to the grain tank floor using a cable tie to attach both cables to the existing cable attached to the grain elevator. December

Figure 22. Flow and Moisture Sensor Cables routed over return tailings elevator to underside of cab. 6. Refer to Figure 22 and route the cables over the side of the return tailings elevator and underneath the auger that the return tailings dumps into. Route both cables through the crevice underneath the auger to the area underneath the cab. Make sure to use the cable ties to secure the cables away from moving parts. 7. Connect the Ground Speed Cable to the Ground Speed Sensor and route the cable up to the underside of the cab where the Flow and Moisture Sensor cable are now routed. 8. Route all three cables across the underside of the cab and connect them to Distribution Cable. Make sure to use the cable ties to secure the cables away from moving parts. December

Installing Lower Elevator Adjuster Parts required for this procedure: Lower Elevator Adjuster Lower Adjuster Installation Kit Drill Step-by-Step Procedure IMPORTANT: A slide adjuster must be installed at the lower end of the clean grain elevator, so the top shaft of the elevator can remain in a fixed position. If you don t install this lower slide adjuster, every time you adjust the top shaft to tighten the chain your grain weight calibration will change. IMPORTANT: If your elevator chain and top drive sprocket have several years of use, it is a good idea to install new parts. If these parts are changed at a later date, it will affect the calibration of the monitor. 1. Remove the slip clutch from the bottom shaft of the chain grain elevator. Remove the existing bearing flange, bearing and sprocket spacer from the bottom shaft. Make sure the elevator paddle chain is disconnected. 2. Refer to Figure 23 and install the aluminum lower adjuster template on the existing bearing bolts as shown. Use the 13/32-in. drill bit and drill (4) holes in side of the grain elevator for the (4) lower adjuster carriage bolts as shown. Use the square file and file all (4) holes square to match the square hole of the adjuster template. 3. Install the provided 30-mm x 2-1/2 in. sprocket spacer on the elevator bottom shaft. Install the aluminum lower adjuster spacer and the lower adjuster to the side of the grain elevator as shown in Figure Install the existing 1/4-in. wide bearing spacer onto the grain elevator shaft so the spacer is pushed fully against the adjuster bearing as shown in Figure 25. Install (1) 1-1/4 in. machine washer next to the 1/4 in. wide bearing spacer that was just installed 9-24 December

Figure 23. Drilling holes for Elevator Lower Adjuster Figure 24. Adjuster Spacer, Lower Adjuster and existing bearing spacer installed on lower clean grain elevator (machine washer(s) not shown) 5. Insert the provided half moon shaft key. You may have to cut off part of the key for it to fit in the slot. December

Figure 25. Center divider cutout above bottom sprocket on clean grain elevator 6. With the lower adjuster adjusted to its top adjustment, refer to Figure 25 and make sure the bottom paddle chain sprocket will not hit the center divider inside the bottom of the elevator. If the center divider interferes with the sprocket cut away part of the divider directly above the sprocket. 7. With the top shaft of the grain elevator correctly adjusted, reconnect the paddle chain. You may have to add the provided half link to make the elevator paddle chain long enough to reconnect the chain. 8. Re-install the slip clutch mechanisms onto the bottom clean grain elevator shaft. Before installing the drive belt or drive chain, rotate the slip clutch and verify there is enough clearance between the lower adjuster and the side of the slip clutch. 9. When reconnecting the drive chain or drive belt on the slip clutch mechanism, you will need to use the provided 5/8-in. flat washers to move the idler in-line with the drive belt or drive chain. You will also need to slide the drive sprocket or drive pulley over, in-line with the belt or chain. 10. Close the shield on the right side of the combine that covers the area of the drive chain or drive belt for the clean grain elevator. The drive chain of drive belt may new rub against the right side shield. If the shield rubs against the chain or belt, add spacers to the shield so that when it closes, it will not rub against the belt or chain December

Installing Header Sensor Parts required for this procedure: Header Sensor Header Sensor Kit Step-by-Step Procedure 1. Underneath the cab, locate the right side cab support arm that is to the back of the cab. If there are existing holes(s) in the cab support arm, use those holes to mount the header sensor as long as it mounts the header sensor close to the in-line with the feeder house. If no holes are present, drill (2) clearance holes in the cab support arm using an 11/32-in. drill bit. 2. Install the header sensor on the support arm using (2) 5/16 x 1-in. hex head screws, flat washers and nylock nuts. Mount the header sensor in the front left and back right slots as shown in Figure 26. Ensure the header sensor is mounted with the cable pointing towards the back of the combine and the pivot shaft towards the right side of the combine. Figure 26. Header Sensor mounted to the right side of cab support arm. December

3. With the feeder house lowered, measure 20 in. forward from the back of the feeder house and make a center punch mark on the top of the feeder house, in-line with the threaded rod. Use the 11/32-in. drill bit and drill a clearance hole for a5/16 in. bolts through the top surface of the feeder house. 4. Install a 5/16 x 1-in. hex head screw with a bent chain link in the clearance hole in the top of the feeder house. 5. Install the threaded rod to the pivot shaft of the header sensor. Position the chain on the threaded rod 1-in. from the end of the threaded rod that is opposite the header sensor. 6. Attach the spring to the bent chain link attached to the top of the feeder house. Use pliers to close the bent chain link around the lope of the extension spring. 7. Route the Header Sensor Cable to the Distribution Cable and connect it to the Distribution Cable. Figure 27. Header Sensor with chain attached to feeder house 9-28 December

Final Inspection Installation is now complete. Do a walk around of the combine and complete the following: All cable connections have been made. Excess cable has been tied out of the way, so there is no interference. All tools have been removed from the combine. All cap screws and carriage bolts are tight. Operational Checkout Step-by-Step Procedure Refer to the Display Items section in the Operation Section for instructions on how to display different items on the screen. 1. Start engine. 2. Turn the monitor power switch ON and verify that the monitor turns on properly. A field and load should be displayed at the top. 3. Display Elevator Speed on the screen. 3a. Verify that elevator RPM stays at zero with the separator and header OFF. 3b. Engage the separator and verify the monitor measures elevator RPM. It should be between RPM at full engine speed. NOTE: On some combine models, the header must be engaged to get an elevator speed signal. If you do not get an elevator RPM reading, engage the header drive. December

4. Display Ground Speed on the screen. Move the combine slowly to verify the monitor measures MPH at low speeds (below 1 mph). NOTE: MPH will NOT be accurate, because the monitor has not yet been calibrated to your combine. 5. Start the separator with the combine at rest and verify that the monitor reads 0.0 MPH. 6. Display Head Height on the screen. 7. Lift the head and verify the head height number increases. Lower the head and verify the head height number decreases. 8. Display Temp on screen and verify that there is a temperature reading. The temperature may be off slightly because it has not been calibrated. Refer to the Setup Section of the Operator s Manual to adjust the monitor to your combine. Operational Checkout for YM 2000 Step-by-Step Procedure Refer to General Description in the Setup Section of the Operator s manual for a description of the key. 1. Start Engine. 2. Flip the monitor power switch ON and verify that the monitor turns on properly. (a) The top display should show F1 L1 (b) The lower-left display should show SOYBEANS. (c) The lower-right display should show 0.0 AV/B/A. 3. Push the FLOW key twice to display Elevator RPM. (a) Verify that elevator RPM stays at 0 with the separator and header OFF. (b) Engage the separator and verify that the monitor measures elevator RPM. It should be between 400 and 450 RPM at full engine speed December

NOTE: On some combine models, the header must be engaged to get an elevator speed signal. If you do not get an elevator RPM reading, engage the header drive. 4. Move the combine slowly to verify that the monitor measures MPH at low speeds (below 1mph). NOTE: MPH will not agree with the combine s monitor, because the yield monitor has not been calibrated to your combine. 5. Start the separator with the combine at rest and verify that the monitor reads0.0 MPH. 6. Place the feeder house at about mid-height. 7. Place the AREA COUNT switch in the UP position. 8. Select STOP HEIGHT on the top display. 9. If the red AREA COUNT light is ON, increase the stop height displayed on the top line (using the UP ARROW key for the top display) until the light goes out. 10. If the AREA COUNT light is OFF, decrease the stop height displayed until the light comes on. 11. Verify that the AREA COUNT light goes out as the head is dropped slightly below the original position and comes on as the head is slightly above the original position. NOTE: Use small up and down head movements for this check. If you use large motions, it may appear that the head moves too far before the light changes, because there can be up to a 1 second delay before the monitor gets to the point in its program cycle where it checks header height. December

12. Check for proper connection of the moisture sensor as follows (a) Turn On the Yield Monitor (b) Set MOIST = AUTO under the MOIST key. (c) Press the MOIST key five times to display temperature, which should show a number within a few degrees of the actual ambient temperature. (d) If you know the temperature in the area of the moisture sensor accurately, you can adjust the temperature readout with the lower-left UP or DOWN ARROW keys. (e) If you do not get a reasonable temperature reading (it will indicate 20 DEG F if the sensor is not connected), recheck the connections. Call at if you have a problem and cannot find it. NOTE: You cannot get a moisture reading until there is grain flowing through the combine. Also, you will only see the AVG% display when there is no grain flow. *** 9-32 December
