2 Pressure regulating dampers PESSUE EGULATING DAMPES introduction The PV pressure regulating damper is designed for use either as a differential room pressure controller or as a non return exhaust valve and is suitable for vertical mounting in partitions and walls. The units can be sized to regulate room pressures against a design air flow rate, but can also be adjusted after installation using the balance weights to give a range of operating pressures. The PV can also be used in conjunction with other Brooke Air products such as weather louvres for external applications or any of the grille range where architectural requirements need to be considered. type PV options For all additional available options, border styles, fixings, finishes and plenums see document PAT L fixings Standard fixing method is by countersunk screw through the flange - SC finish Standard finish is satin anodised aluminium - SAA sizes Pressure regulating dampers are available in sizes ranging from 150mm x 150mm up to a maximum of 1000mm x 1000mm in a single section. 6 Grille and duct dampers OPPOSED BLADE DAMPES introduction The OB type opposed blade damper is offered as a standard method of flow control or equalisation and is suitable for use with the majority of grilles and diffusers within the Brooke Air range. Dampers are normally supplied ready fixed to the air terminal when specified, but can also be supplied separately for duct mounted applications. The standard method of adjustment is by a removable key through the grille face, but lever and right angle type operators, together with fusible fire links, can also be supplied. Where necessary, the dampers incorporate end closure plates to provide an effective seal in the closed position. type OB sizes OB Dampers are available in sizes ranging from 100mm x 50mm to a maximum of 1200mm x 450mm. Sizes larger than this are supplied in multiple sections. ordering details Grille and diffuser mounted dampers should be included with the grille order adding the designation OB to the grille type. Duct or plenum mounted dampers (type OB/DM) should be ordered separately, stating the nominal duct dimensions. When ordering, state the type of operator required; OB or OBL (standard key or lever), OB/AO (right angle operator for quadrant), or OB/FFL (self closing with fusible fire link). 6

8 Grille and duct dampers STAIGHTENING VANES introduction The SV type straightening vane is offered as a standard method of flow directional control and is suitable for use with linear grilles within the Brooke Air range. The vanes are normally supplied ready fixed to the air terminal when specified, but can also be supplied separately for duct mounted applications. The standard method of adjustment is by hand. type SV sizes SV vanes are available in sizes ranging from 100mm x 50mm to a maximum of 1200mm x 450mm. Sizes larger than this are supplied in multiple sections. ordering details Grille and diffuser mounted straightening vanes should be included with the grille order adding the designation SV to the grille type. Duct or plenum mounted dampers (type SV/DM) should be ordered separately, stating the nominal duct dimensions. 8

10 Grille and duct dampers HOMBOIDAL DAMPES introduction homboidal dampers are specifically designed for use in applications requiring a combination of flow control and equalisation. The flexible aluminium blades are constructed to allow progressive regulation over the height or width of the damper by individual adjustment of the four corner screws. The dampers are particularly suitable where a grille is to be installed in the side of a main duct, or where there is a minimal length of stub duct available. Whilst the rhomboidal damper is suitable for the majority of grilles and diffusers within the Brooke Air range, it is suggested that it should only be fitted in situations where flow equalisation is likely to be a problem. type D sizes homboidal dampers are available in sizes ranging from 150mm x 100mm to a maximum of 600mm x 550mm. Sizes larger than this are supplied in multiple sections. ordering details When ordering, add the designation D to the grille or diffuser type. 10
