2 Safety precautions DeLaval Barrier Teat Spray Exstention Kit Safety precautions Read carefully before using the product! For best possible performance, continuous satisfactory safe operation, read and understand these instructions thoroughly before operating your equipment. The information, instructions and parts listed are applicable and current on the date when issued. DeLaval reserves the right to make changes without notice. Note to operator It is your responsibility to see that any person involved with the use or operation of this equipment follows all safety and operational instructions. Under no circumstances should you allow this equipment to be used if the equipment is faulty or the operator does not completely understand the operation of the equipment. Know when dangerous condition can exist. Then take necessary steps to protect personell as well as equipment. Danger! Use caution when handling chemicals. Read and follow the instructions on the label and use the recommended system settings and protective equipment such as goggles, gloves, plastic or a rubberized apron at all times. Danger! Do not mix chemicals unless instructed. Danger! Keep chemicals away from children.

3 Safety precautions Warning! Keep children away from the control box and other components. Warning! Before installing or operating this equipment, carefully read and follow the instructions provided in this manual. Failure to follow these directions may cause accidents resulting in serious injury and/or property damage. Warning! Never use the equipment for any purpose than the specified application. Warning! The system is pressurized until ball valve is closed and trigger is squeezed to bleed line pressure. Warning! Before servicing, close ball valve and/or separate air supply from spray system. Chemical supply line remains pressurized. Squeeze gun trigger to bleed line pressure.

5 Planning DeLaval Barrier Teat Spray Extension Kit Planning Compressed air The system works by using compressed air. If compressed air is not available, install a compressor unit with the following features: - Minimum capacity air supply of 125 PSI/8.6 Bar - Volumetric flow rate of 2.6 SCFM System configuration The drops can be positioned in the middle of the parlor or on each side. Check the dimensions of the milking parlor to define the number of drops necessary. The coil hose has a maximum extension of 12 feet (3.6 meter). The first drop should be installed between the first and the fourth milking stall. Additional drops can be added according to the number of milking stalls.

9 Installation DeLaval Barrier Teat Spray Extension Kit Installation Enclosure Hang enclosure on a wall within 18 feet (5 meters) of air source and less than 7 feet (2.1 meters) from the floor were chemical drum can be placed. Chemical Feed Extension Hose 1. Insert ½ LDPE tubing into the chemical outlet port on pump, (right side). 2. Route chemical tubing from enclosure to parlor and along the pit where drops will be convenient. Secure tubing in place using nylon zip ties at a convenient height. Preferably, above head level and no more than 10 feet (3 meters) above pit floor. 3. End tubing approximately 10 feet (3-4.5 meters) from the end of the parlor. Remove excess lengths, do not roll it up. 4. Each drop has the capability to reach approximately 12 feet (3.6 meters) in any direction. Locate the first desired hanging location (closest to enclosure). 5. After checking spray gun accessibility to necessary milking stations, cut chemical tubing. 6. At cut locations, insert T fitting, push tubing all the way in, and tighten nuts. Do this at each drop location. For last drop location, proceed to step 7. See procedures below for compression fitting instructions.

10 Installation Ferrule Nut Tubing Fitting Body Tubing Stop A. Cut the tubing end squarely and remove any internal and external burrs. B. Insert the tubing through the back of the nut all the way through to nut assembly to the tube stop in the fitting body. If the tubing does not enter the nut easily, loosen the nut one turn and then insert the tubing all the way to the tube stop in hte fitting body. C. Turn the nut hand tight. D. Wrench tighten the nut 1-1/2 to 2 turns. E. All nuts must be retightened when the system reaches projected operating temperature. Note: Squeaking sound when tightening nut is normal. For pipe threaded connections, a durable thread tape must be used. If a shorter length is desired, it can be cut from the short tail end of the coil hose. In longer barns, shorter drop length at far ends can slightly improve spray performance. Caution! To insure proper assembly, tubing must be fully inserted into the fitting body to the tube stop. 7. For the last drop location, use the provided plugging cap on unused port of T fitting. 8. Firmly secure T to a secure surface. This will be a stressed component when pulling on the drop. Chemical Inlet Tube 1. Cut a length of plastic pipe long enough not to fall into the chemical container. (Not included) Feed the tubing through the pipe until foot valve/strainer is at the bottom of the pipe. Attach the clear tubing to the chemical inlet on pump, and secure with a hose clamp.

11 Installation Compressed Air Connection 1. Turn off valve on the bottom of the enclosure. 2. Attach ¼ tubing to air inlet valve. 3. Route tubing to compressed air source and connect. Air source connection components not included. Testing 1. Place chemical inlet tube in bucket. 2. Turn on ball valve. 3. Set regulator to PSI [ bar] the product being sprayed will dictate the necessary air pressure. 4. Activate guns to purge air. 5. Check for leaks. Pump will stop cycling when set pressure is achieved. If pump continues to cycle, there is a leak somewhere in the spray line.

Increasing and decreasing air pressure will affect spray pattern, and teat dip consumption. 2. Temperature will affect teat dip viscosity. It will affect spray pattern, teat coverage and teat dip consumption. It is recommended to turn off (close) the air valve after use.

13 Maintenance DeLaval Barrier Teat Spray Extension Kit Maintenance Clean spray guns and nozzles with warm water as needed. Clean foot valve strainer on chemical pick-up tube weekly. Annually purge system with hot water to flush product build-up and debris, or as needed.

15 Troubleshooting DeLaval Barrier Teat Spray Extention Kit Troubleshooting Poor Spray Pattern 1. Make sure air pressure is at desired setting. 2. Clean foot valve strainer on pick-up line. 3. Clean spray gun and nozzles. 4. Increase air pressure for cold temperatures. 5. Check for a kinked hose. 6. In longer barns, shorter drop length at far ends can slightly improve spray performance. In case of emergency, close air valve. System will shut down
