1 DI58 DIA8Y0 DTC P05 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit DTC P07 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Low Input DTC P08 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input CICUIT DESCIPTI A thermistor built in the engine coolant temperature sensor changes the resistance value according to the engine coolant temperature. The structure of the sensor and connection to the is the same as those of the intake air temperature circuit malfunction shown on page DI54. If the detects the DTC P05, P07 or P08, it operates the fail safe functions in witch the engine coolant temperature is assumed to be 80 C (76 F) DTC No. Proceed to DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area P05 Step P07 Step 4 P08 Step Open or short in engine coolant temp. sensor circuit for 0.5 sec. Sensor G 8 G EE BB EE LB E A466 INSPECTI POCEDUE If different DTCs that are related to different systems are output simultaneously while terminal E is used as a ground terminal, terminal E may be open. ead freeze frame data using the handheld tester or the OBD II scan tool, as freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, it is useful for determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, the engine was warmed up or not, the airfuel ratio was lean or rich, etc. at the time of the malfunction. Connect OBD II scan tool or handheld tester, and read value of engine coolant temperature. (a) Connect the OBD II scan tool or handheld tester to the DLC3. (b) Turn the ignition switch and push the OBD II scan tool or handheld tester main switch. (c) Select the item DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBD II/DATA handheld tester. : Same as actual engine coolant temperature. If there is open circuit, OBD II scan tool or handheld tester indicates 40 C (40 F). If there is short circuit, OBD II scan tool or hand held tester indicates 40 C (84 F) or more. 40 C (40 F)... Go to step. 40 C (84 F) or more... Go to step 4. If, replace engine coolant temperature sensor. 3 Check for open in harness or. Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor E 8 E A5300 (b) emove the glove compartment (See page SF63). (c) Connect terminals and E of the connector. The engine coolant temperature sensor connector is disconnected. Before checking, do a visual and contact pressure check of the pressure of the connector (See page IN8). (d) Turn the ignition switch.
