Temp Low match/vdo120c: Normally used in water temp, F. Datcon standard output: ohms. VDO 7bar & VDO 10bar: there is a little different is curve shape but all both ohms. To test the gauge (oil, fuel, temp): 1) Disconnect the input (S), or leave S open, the gauge needle will go all way to the right (or all the way to the left). 2) Connect the S to the ground, the gauge needle should go all way to the left (or all the way to the right), opposite the step #1. 3) If above two steps is true, then the gauge does work. 4) For further test, using a resistor around the middle of the gauge range, the needle should go in the middle of the gauge. 3 Warning: It needs some good patient to go through the instruction manual below, the more slow to read, the fast you can get it right. To activate and access the configuration menu, Touch the front button as the pointer start to move right, keep touch it until the pointer go back to zero and the LCD screen lighted up again. It must touch at least 3-5 seconds. Speedo and Tacho wiring: Red (1) Power +12V Black (5) - ground Green (4) LED illumination Blue (7) signal input, for all senders. The connection below is only optional: Yellow (8) open collect output, shift #3 and overspeed, with 400 ohms internal current limit resistor. The internal LED will be lid when over the speed or over the set RPM. The output will change from 12V to 0V when the needle pass the set point. Brown (3) open collect output, shift #2, with 400 ohms internal current limit resistor. Can connect an external 10K resistor to get 12V to 0V change when set point reaches. Dark gray (2) open collect output, shift #1, with 400 ohms internal current limit resistor. Can connect an external 10K resistor to get 12V to 0V change when set point reaches. White (6) remote reset input, optional, connect to +12 volts via external switch. Page 3 of 11

4 Switch select: Input type Switch select Speedo, hall effect sender (logic input, square wave, 12V) 110 Speedo, magnetic sender (analog input, sine wave, 2.1V min.) 111 Speedo, S1 can set to 0 if not working at high speeds 0xx Speedo, S2 can set to 0 if reading not stable x0x Tachometer, Ignition coil or W terminal (high voltage) 110 Tachometer, magnetic sender (analog input, sine wave, 2.1V min.) 111 Tachometer, multispark tacho output (MSD ignitions, 2.1V min.) 000 Tachometer, S1 can set to 0 if not working in high RPM 0xx Tachometer, S2 can set to 0 if reading not stable x0x Notes: Normally, set to 000 will be fine. If in any application the pointer is not stable, switches 1 and 2 can be reversed to experiment with the compatibility and matching with the sender. S3 should NEVER be on (or 1) when the input (blue, Pin 7) is connected to a coil ignition, damage will occur. Coil ignition will have 400V spark signal and can damage the gauge IC if S3 on. So normally S3 should be set to 0 postion. Page 4 of 11

5 Tacho Setup Menu The default menu is hours only, however there is a display for RPM on the LCD. Push button momentary to toggle between hours and RPM To activate and access the configuration and calibration menu follow the path below: 1. Turn on the power, touch button as the pointer start to move to right, and hold the button. 2. The LCD illumination will confirm set/reset touch switch is working. 3. Hold button at least 3 seconds until Set S1 is displayed. 4. Push button momentary to scroll through each menu (below) in turn: Set S1 Sets shift light #1 RPM Set S2 Sets shift light #2 RPM Set S3 Sets shift light #3 RPM Set PPr Set pulses per revolution calibration 5. will go each above sub-setup menu. Set S1 Sets shift light #1 RPM LCD display 5 digits xxxxx Digits flashing can be set. LCD returns to hours. Set S2 Sets shift light #2 RPM LCD display 5 digits xxxxx Digits flashing can be set. 6 Set S3 Sets shift light #3 RPM LCD display 5 digits xxxxx Digits flashing can be set. LCD returns to hours. Set PPr Set pulses per revolution calibration, only. LCD display 5 digits xxxxx Digits flashing can be set. Push button momentary while digits all flash to confirm set. (must during the flash) LCD returns to hours. If error shows, it mean the data is out of range. The PPR range is only. The higher number you set, the lower reading will be on the display, vise verse. For example, if the PPR setting is 8.0 and display shows 1000 PRM, than change the setting to 4.0 will make display shows 2000 ROM. Notes on pulses per rev for different engine types: You have to know pulse/rev in order to calibrate the tachometer. Here are some hints: Gasoline 4 stroke engines. 1 cylinder engine (motorcycle): 0.5 pulse/rev 2 cylinder engine: 1 pulse/rev 4 cylinder engine: 2 pulse/rev 6 cylinder engine: 3 pulse/rev 8 cylinder engine: 4 pulse/rev 10 cylinder engine: 5 pulse/rev 12 cylinder engine: 6 or 3 pulse/rev On modern 4 stroke engines with no distributor the pulse per rev should be doubled. On two stroke engines the pulse per rev should be doubled. Page 6 of 11

7 Speedo Setup Menu To activate and access the configuration and calibration menu follow the path below: 1. Turn on the power, touch button as the pointer start to move to right, and hold the button; 2. The LCD illumination will confirm set/reset touch switch is working. 3. until CltrIP is displayed. 4. CltrIP Clear trip Odometer Trip ODO resets to zero LCD returns to OD display HS-Ind Set high speed indicator LCD 3 digits displayed xxx LCD returns to total ODO. ConFI9 Configuration menu Push button momentary to scroll through each menu (below) in turn: ClrSEr Clear service counter SetSEr Set service counter SetPPU Set pulses per mile calibration DtSPPU Drive to set pulses per mile calibration. will go each above sub-setup menu Page 7 of 11

8 ClrSEr Clear service counter LCD display ClrSEr flashes Hold button while digits flash to confirm clear. LCD returns to display total ODO. SetSEr Set service counter 6 digits xxxxxx LCD returns to total ODO. SetPPU Set pulses per mile calibration LCD display 6 digits xxxxxx LCD returns to total ODO. This a very important parameter you have to set, the default is Increase the set number will decrease the display reading. For example, if setting is 8000, the reading is 60 miles/hour. Then change the setting to 12000, the pointer will display 40 miles/hour. The maximum setting number is 64000, so if you have very high frequency signal input (such as fry wheel) and need to set more than 64000, it won t work. So if you know how much the reading is off, you can change the setting by proportional scale. For example, if the setting as default is 8000, and you find the reading is 140 miles/hour, and it should be 65 miles/hour, then you can calculate the setting: 8000 x 140 / 65 = 18667, and then set the parameter to will be done. Speed Calibrate method 1: DtSPPU Drive to set pulses per mile calibration. LCD display 5 digits and toggle 0xxxxx Drive vehicle exactly 1 mile Stop car after driving LCD returns to total ODO. Speed Calibrate method 2: DtSPPU Drive to set pulses per mile calibration. LCD display 5 digits and toggle 0xxxxx Drive vehicle a known distance to increment count Page 8 of 11

9 Stop car after driving chosen distance Quickly make a note of the pulse count before it returns to total. Manual calculate the pulses per mile. Calculate pulse/mile: pulse/mile = recorded count x (1mile / driven distance in miles) Then go to SetPPU to input manually. Note: 1. In old cars, normally is 8000 pulse/mile; 2. to get accurate calibration, 2-5 mile driven is recommended. 3. the maximum count is 64, If you don t drive in 5 seconds in DtSPPU mold, the menu will be quit. 10 Sending Unit Oil pressure sender: Input: PSI, 0-80 PSI, PSI Output: ohms, ohms resistance Types: isolated ground, earth (case) grounded, quick disconnect (with low pressure warning switch). Accuracy: within 5% full scale. Thread: 1/8 NPT. Wiring connectors: 8-32 stud, or quick disconnect. Symbols: G and are resistance output. G can be wired to ground S - signal output blade. WR - Low 20 psi alarm switch: when pressure is bigger than 20 psi, the WR switch will be open, when pressure is smaller 20 psi, the WR switch will be closed, or connect to ground. Temperature sender: Temp sender for water or trans oil. Temp range: F, F Output (connect to gauge): ohms, Stewart-Warmer type. 1/8" NPT thread mounting, 1/2" long for thread portion. 1/4" blade connection. 3/4" hex size. 1/2" long probe, total 1" include thread portion. Magnetic pickup sender: Magnetic pickup sender for Speedometer or Tachometer. Sine wave output. Page 10 of 11

11 Normally connect to gauge open collect input. Output impedance: 390 +/-15 ohms. Sealed wiring. Working voltage: 3-30 VDC. Temperature range: -40C ~ +80C. Dimensions: 3/4 x 2, 3/4 x 2, Thread size: 3/4-16 Wiring. Blue: open collect input from Tach or Speedo. Brown: Ground. Output Vpp: 500Hz > 2V, 1000Hz > 3V, 1500 >4V. Mounting: normally by fly wheel. Speedo sender, GM (standard) or Ford type, pulse generator: 16 pulse/rev output, Hall-effect 0.104" driver key Quick disconnect/cable wire harness included For GM transmissions type, Ford type is optional. Working voltage: 8 30 VDC. Temperature range: -40C ~ +80C. Easily wiring. Red: +12V. Black: Ground. White: signal output Thread: female 7/8"-18. Fuel level sender: 6-24 height and swing arm adjustable. 240 ohms (E) to 33 ohms (F) resistance output. Other range is also available.
