3 ENGINE 1,498cc 4-Stroke Engine is Intercooled and Supercharged (KP) Legendary Ninja -inspired engine adapted for personal watercraft use. Intercooled Eaton TVS roots-type supercharger produces large amounts of boost, even at low rpm, for instant and powerful acceleration right off idle. Eaton Twin Vortices Series (TVS) supercharger uses twin four-lobe rotors to produce a continuous delivery of air for smoother throttle response and a significant increase in performance. Automatic supercharger belt tensioner reduces maintenance and ensures belt is kept tight for maximum supercharger performance. Chrome composite plated cylinders (KP) are lightweight, durable, and quickly carry heat away from the combustion chamber and piston for supreme durability at high power output. The water jacket distributes water evenly around the cylinder for optimum cooling performance. To help prevent dilution due to over-cooling, a checkvalve opens to release the water from the jacket when the engine is idling or turned off, then closes when running to allow the jacket to fill. V-groove in the second land on each piston (between top and second ring grooves) provides consistent oil retention at high loads. Dual piston cooling oil jets help cool each piston for increased power and durability. Dry sump oil tank built into crankcase. Large oil pan return holes for quick return of oil to the pan and partitions in the pan prevent oil from accumulating on one side during tight turns or sudden acceleration/deceleration. Dual water mufflers reduce exhaust back pressure to help increase performance and provide a quieter ride. Anti-knock sensor helps protect engine by detecting abnormal combustion and retarding ignition timing to suppress it. The operator is alerted by a buzzer and a warning on the instrument panel.

4 ENGINE CONTINUED Intercooled Pressurizing the intake air heats it to extremely high temperatures which would rob power, but the liquidcooled intercooler reduces intake air to ambient temperature, or even less, for higher combustion efficiency and more power. Digital Fuel Injection (KP) Large 60mm throttle body for ample airflow. Intake manifold is slim and long to help boost low end and mid-range power. High-pressure fuel pump flows a high volume of fuel for increased power and better fuel efficiency. High-flow injectors complement the engine s substantial output and contribute to combustion efficiency. Electronic Throttle Valve (KP) (ETV) The throttle on the handlebar operates an acceleration position sensor (APS) that uses the ECU to send a signal to a small motor that operates the throttle valve. This makes throttle action very light for reduced rider fatigue and the more precise throttle control results in better performance, smoother running and increased fuel mileage. Using a cable-operated APS allows the electronics to be placed within the hull for increased protection from water and vibration. Multiple Riding Modes The ECU-controlled ETV allows multiple riding mode options to be activated with the touch of a button: - 5mph Mode conveniently regulates rpm to maintain constant speed in no-wake zones. - Cruise Control fixes speed at a specified level for convenient long-distance touring. - Economy Assistance Mode changes to a leaner FI map to prioritize fuel economy over driveability. - Fuel Economy Assistance Mode settings provide more significant fuel savings when the mode is activated for increased range during long-distance touring. Smart Learning Operation (SLO) mode Activated with a separate key, the Smart Learning Operation feature limits engine speed to approximately 5,800 rpm, which reduces maximum speed by approximately 30 percent so unskilled operators can practice maneuvering the watercraft at reduced power until they become more familiar with its operation. When activated, SLO appears on the multifunction meter screen and FPO (Full Power Operation) appears when normal operation is selected. Kawasaki Smart Steering (KP) A steering sensor is linked to the ECU to aid in watercraft handling when the throttle is quickly released from high speed.

5 HULL Fiberglass Hull Inside of bow reinforced to handle the high horsepower. Aggressive styling reflects flagship status and presents a powerful image. Two separate flush ports for the engine and intercooler for easy maintenance. The hull offers excellent stability and responsive handling in calm and rough waters. Deep 22.5-degree V-angle at the bottom of the hull provides better grip for racing-like performance. Sponsons extend further from the hull to enhance straight-line performance and high speed maneuverability. Four Kawasaki Splash Deflector (KSD)(KP) ridges across the bottom of the bow minimizes spray in a wide variety of conditions for greater rider concentration. High-performance ride plate with an added groove from the center to the rear enhances handling. High quality gel coat is used for a deep, lustrous, scratch-resistant finish. 6 CONTROLS Electric Trim Control System Allows the rider to control the angle of the jet pump nozzle to suit water surface conditions and riding style. Raising the pump raises the bow for improved rough-water handling, while lowering it increases turning performance. Instrument Panel Multi-function meter design provides high-quality image and accurate display. Fuel consumption function in display for convenience. All-digital LCD screen is easy to read and displays water and air temperature in addition to the speedometer, tachometer, hour meter, clock, trip distance, trip time and fuel level. Positioned high on the hull with a visor for easy visibility. Direct Drive Axial Flow Pump (KP) Impeller blade angle provides quick acceleration from a stop and low speed. Pump houses a big 160mm stainless steel impeller that efficiently converts all the power into forward thrust. The steering nozzle is designed to reduce load and provide lighter handling despite the power. Oval leading edge blade shape for maximum efficiency, and minimum cavitation. Horizontal guide vanes on the intake grate help grip the water and prevent the bow from rising on acceleration for improved stability. Direct drive from engine to pump; no gear reduction unit. Engine turns lower rpm for less stress, wear, fuel consumption and vibration. Durable injection molded plastic reverse bucket provides backing action. 7 ERGONOMICS Luxurious Cockpit LXuryseat is the only production PWC seat to feature a cover made of heat-mitigating material that does not retain as much heat in direct sunlight for increased comfort. 10 KAW-PEDIA AXIAL-FLOW JET PUMP The JET SKI pump, directly driven from the engine, pushes the watercraft with a stream of pressurized water. The fullyenclosed pump takes in water through the grate in the bottom of the craft, pressurizes it with an impeller, then pushes the water out the back at high speed, driving the watercraft forward. An axial-flow pump (one that pushes the water out in line with the pump center line) has guide vanes straightening the flow from the impeller. The guide vanes straighten the water flow and eliminate torque reaction which can cause the craft to roll during acceleration. Benefits: The axial-flow pump has excellent high RPM performance and good handling during acceleration. The completely enclosed pump has no exposed propeller. CHROME COMPOSITE CYLINDER PLATING Kawasaki s chrome composite cylinder plating is a mixture of nickel-phosphorous alloy, ceramic, silicone carbine and some organic materials that is bonded directly to aluminum cylinder walls. This plating improves heat transfer, is porous so it holds lubrication well, is hard to resist abrasion and seizure, and provides a consistent coating of the cylinder wall, even around the chamfered edge at the top of the cylinder. This is especially useful in two-stroke engines since the consistent edges of the cylinder ports resist snagging piston rings and allows the top of the exhaust port to be straight for smoother flow. Benefits: Chrome composite plating adds durability, helps provide consistent power output, allows closer piston tolerances for more power and prevents hot spots that can lead to pre-ignition. DIGITAL FUEL INJECTION An on-board, digital microprocessor reads various inputs from the engine, i.e. ignition timing, rpm, and throttle position, and from the environment, i.e. air temperature and pressure. It uses the information to decide the precise amount of fuel that the engine needs at that moment, and injects it into the intake tract. Benefits: The fuel injection system feeds the engine just the amount of fuel it needs, when it needs it. No extra fuel is wasted, nor is the engine forced to run too lean. The result is excellent fuel economy combined with power and torque when the rider demands it. The engine runs smoothly and powerfully from idle to top speed. ELECTRONIC THROTTLE VALVE (ETV) Kawasaki s electronic throttle actuation system enables the ECU to control the volume of both the fuel and air delivered to the engine. The throttle grip and throttle valves are not mechanically connected. Instead, twisting the throttle grip actuates cables attached to a pulley on one side of the throttle body, so that throttle pull feels just like a traditional system. The pulley on the throttle body connects to an Accelerator Position Sensor (APS), which sends a signal to the ECU for the rider s requested throttle position. It is the ECU that actually controls the opening of the throttle valves by actuating a DC motor atop the throttle body. Throttle position is confirmed to the ECU by the throttle position sensor (TPS). The simple system makes it easy to incorporate other systems like cruise control. Benefits: Kawasaki s ETV provides several advantages over a purely mechanical system. Its ideally matched fuel injection delivery and throttle valve position results in better, more natural engine response. Control of both fuel injection and airflow also enables precise cold-engine idling control, and once underway the precise control contributes to better fuel mileage. For the rider, throttle pull is lighter yet retains the more traditional, mechanical feel, while cruise control equipped models help reduce fatigue on long trips.

11 KAW-PEDIA CONTINUED KAWASAKI SMART STEERING (KSS) The Kawasaki Smart Steering system features a steering sensor that is electronically linked to an on-board microprocessor. If the handlebar is fully turned in either direction and the engine rpm drops from a designated rpm, such as when the throttle is released at speed, the microprocessor activates the KSS system which raises engine rpm to provide enough thrust to initiate the desired turn. Benefit: This system improves handling by helping initiate corners more smoothly at higher speeds. Average riders may not even know the system is there, since they normally apply the throttle when initiating a corner. KAWASAKI SPLASH DEFLECTOR (KSD) The Kawasaki Splash Deflector (KSD) is a series of ridges across the bottom of the bow of the watercraft hull. These ridges are carefully designed to catch water splashing forward from under the hull, and keep it from flying up in front of the watercraft and into the rider s face. Benefits: Less splash means a drier, more comfortable ride. This feature is especially important if it is cold.
